Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WELCOME JUNE WAITERS
So after procrastinating today, I spent my time with RC.
I'm about do to a LR powow with MBT questions bc this set didn't go that well, although I did a lot better with my accuracy going up and understanding the questions more (I got at least 4 extra questions wrong
).
I'm worried I have been slacking too much on LG, so I am going to try and somehow get back to that tomorrow.

has anyone here bought a 180 watch? I think I'm gonna buy one then sell it after the LSAT since its usually in high demand.

Ugh, I need to start practicing with a watch. Been using the 7sage proctor, which is ALMOST the same, but not close enough that I don't feel bad about it. Will probably switch over in the next week or two, with a countdown alarm set for 35 minutes.proteinshake wrote:has anyone here bought a 180 watch? I heard those don't last very long. I have a Casio Water Resistant 3 Hand Analog I bought online from Amazon for ~ $10.proteinshake wrote:has anyone here bought a 180 watch? I think I'm gonna buy one then sell it after the LSAT since its usually in high demand.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WELCOME JUNE WAITERS
Can someone help me with a MBT LR question? I posted it on 7Sage last week and I didn't like the response I got which was basically just look at the premise and take the contrapositive of it.
It was PT 16, Section 3, Question 8, or if you have the Cambridge LR packet #66 from the MBT questions.
This was my post:
I got this wrong and then tried redoing it in blind review (I drilled this question type in a set of 40 questions). In BR I chose C. My approach to the problem the second time around was to diagram this:
RP --> ASW (first sentence)
RP --> AWS (second sentence)
---------------------------------------------------------
P --> RP (conclusion)
So I went into this thinking I needed to link progress and unreasonable people.
What confused me was the last sentence, which I assumed was the conclusion. I was not sure if progress or unreasonable people was the necessary condition. Then I thought if I substituted "depends on" with "requires" it would make unreasonable people the necessary condition, (is this the correct way to diagram it?) still I was not confidant my approach was correct.
I think A is irrelevant and D is wrong because we are not concerned with the subset that are unable to bring progress. Can someone help me understand why the others are wrong and why B is correct? Is my reasoning/approach to this question wrong?

I wish they would release the entire season tomorrow so I could buy it and binge watch it, lol.

I was considering the 180 Watch, but I did read a review that said it stopped working for someone after a week or something like that.
I ended up getting the cheaper Perfect Score Watch (2 pencils and eraser included!

It does the job just fine for me. And lays flat on my desk which was something I wanted so as not to keep looking at my worst during the test.
Part of me still wants to get the 180 watch, though. It is so nice looking and seems quicker to adjust in-between sections. Someone buy it and let me know how it is!

A guy I intern with used a 180 watch. He said it was good but he said he probably would've just done what I do which is just use a regular watch and set it to 12:00 for each section. I regret not doing this during PT, I first did it with the real thing on June. Don't be me.

Anyone here have details on the Mulhenberg College testing center location?
I don't see anything about it on Simugator (which may be a good thing - likely low attended), and a friend who's taken it there before claimed it was like only 10 people in a room with huge tables.

What exactly are the "Cambridge packets" if anyone wouldn't mind linking me?Barack O'Drama wrote:I basically am doing what YupSports is doing. The 7Sage method for logic games is really helping me. Now I am excited to see my LR get more consistent. Right now I am fluctuating from -8 to -4.SweetTort wrote:YupSports wrote:Luckily, I have the advantage of possessing the Cambridge packets.proteinshake wrote:how much do you all usually drill in a typical day? how many sections/questions/etc?
If I'm drilling question types I'll usually do about 25. 5 warm-ups from the beginning of the packet and then 20 questions from the near-back of the packet (the more difficult ones). I'll keep doing the ones I miss every day until I can write out why the right answer is right and why the wrong answers are wrong.
I have a spreadsheet that tracks what sections I've "used" for drilling. I'll just pick one that I haven't done and do that section timed. If the section is LG (which I don't drill anymore) I use the 7Sage method; so I could be doing the same games for several days in a row. If the section is LR/RC I treat it like typical Blind Review. I try to limit myself to a maximum of 1 section a day, unless I did really well and thus reviewing is a breeze, then I might squeeze in 2 in a day.
I also keep all of the LR and RC questions/passages that were super difficult for me in a binder for later review when I need a break from PTing.
Note: If I am redoing questions from a previous day, that in the new days' drilling allotment.
Straight up, owning the Cambridge Packets has added a solid 5 points to my score.
Yes! Hallelujah to the Cambridge packets. The convenience of having them is great.

hi friends!
i just came back from a much needed lsat-vacation - i took like five weeks off after the june test and started studying again on sunday. i'm going through the lsat-trainer again and then will start doing PTs again!
does anyone have advice for re-taking PTs? (yes, i blew threw every single test the first time around..........i was counting on being one and done..... i was dumb, etc etc)
alsoooooo what's the consensus on the lsat trainer vs. the paid 7sage lessons? i'm considering doing both but don't want to waste money/not sure if i even have time/etc

They compliment each other well. The Trainer gets you to look at the test at a much more "high level" while 7Sage is more the methods and breakdown of specific question types.

I do this for RC and it's how I went from -8 to -0 on PTs. I thought I was the only one!!TheKingLives wrote:You guys are bros, thanks for the encouragement and feedback. Will stay positive and definitely consider switching to 8-week if I feel the load is unmanageable. I was in a weird place when deciding because I know I have the next month free and definitely want to spend every waking moment on LSAT prep, given that I've started kind of late. Leaves me more room to further prepare with other resources if need be.
Weirdly, I found a trick that works for me on LR. So embarrassed to admit this LAWLZ but silently reading the stimulus and the stem in an overpronounced, somewhat snarky way makes it easier for me to draw connections and I feel much more confident on the answer choices. Practiced it on a random LR section in PT 64 and got every question I attempted right. Not going to get me the score I'd like on test day, obviously, but I was not going to allow myself sleep until I felt I made at least a marginal improvement
I feel good. Not sure why, but I feel like the LSAT can be successful for me in September with the right work ethic and practice. Each section requires prep and a good assembly of habits which will surely come in time. Just have to make good use of the next few months. Good luck guys!

Yup! Using The LSAT Trainer w/ 7Sage course and they work very well together. I think YupSports hit the nail on the head with his characterization.34iplaw wrote:Odrama and another in thread appear to be fans.carasrook wrote:hi friends!

Both will run you $200 together. But I wouldn't doubt for a second that using both will raise my score another 4-5 points by the time I am done with them.
If you've seen the 7Sage free LG videos on YouTube and like those, then I think you would be a big fan of the starter course. J.Y. is good at breaking arguments for LR/RC down like he does for logic games.
As far a time, I think you can comfortably balance both at the same time. Especially since you are retaking and have a good understanding of the test already.

Thanks. I've stayed away from RC since it brings my LSAT self esteem down unlike LR and LG which I just need to improve on time for but my accuracy is pretty solid.legallyadog wrote:Stay positive and don't get discouraged!TheMikey wrote:Gonna start some intense RC drilling tomorrow. Of course when I get home I realize that it doesn't have individual minutes on it (ok not that big a deal) but it also has a metal/elastic band...wtf?
Going to B.R. the RC from PT5 today and then get going on some old games, hopefully getting my timing down
