Took PT 59 today and DAMN the first LR blew my mind. Just for reference, i went -2 on the 2nd LR but went -6 on the first LR section. Was it me or did this LR just literally blow some other sections out of the water?

Wow, I don't know what to say after taking the PT 53 LR sections. I missed FIVE on the first section with no time left and ZERO on the second one with 8 minutes. WOW. Talk about not knowing what's going on....

Yeah, I went -4 and then -2 on the LR as well. VOMITOUS LR, that was. I also don't care that vomitous isn't a word. the first LR was a bit rough... I think that was why they made the curve as generous.

vomitous... the desire to vomit after the fact- due to unexpected difficulty, poor performance, or utter dislike.( n, v, adj)

im taking it 59 tomorrow. i got my first -0 RC yesterday. i think im finally equally comfortable w all the sections... just need some more pacing on RC and to not get over cocky on LG.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
UGH #59 RC.
I was doing well (-0 on LG, -1 on LR1, -2 on LR2) until I got to this stupid RC section and got -4.
I think I spent too much time on the first passage (about 9minutes) and then spent the rest of the section feeling rushed. Thus, I didn't really double-check my answers for support in the passage, and was relying on memory for most of the section.
I was stumped on question #2 for the longest time. I know I probably should have moved on rather than spend a disproportionate amount of time on a question so early on, but... I couldn't help myself.
I HATED the law passage. SO. MUCH. Even more than the Noguchi. I got the main point question wrong on the law passage. A and C were just so similar. They say pretty much the exact same thing (at least that's what I thought). I also got #15 wrong because I was feeling rushed and didn't refer to the passage.
I got #20 and #21 wrong on Noguchi. They were both stupid mistakes, where if I'd taken an extra 30 seconds to read carefully, I could have gotten them right.
I guess my main problem with RC is spending too much time on the earlier passages and then feeling rushed and therefore not checking/reading as thoroughly as I should be for the later ones.
I'm going to be spending a substantial amount of time tomorrow drilling RC. UGH.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
168 on PT 60 today. That's like a monthly low for me. I haven't gone below 170 in quite some time. Here's the breakdown:
LR1: -1
LR2: -3
RC: -1
LG: -9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exp LR: -2
Wow. I haven't missed more than 3 in LG in ages. I knew I performed poorly on it, but I was thinking -4 or something like that. Holy crap. I personally found those games retardedly difficult. The last game was simply unbelievable.
Oh well. I'll just have to drill games in the next couple of days.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
PT 54 Today
Phone buzzed during LG which shattered my concentration, leading to my sticking too long on a question in game three, leading to my guessing on 5/6 questions on the last game. And yet...
RC -0, LR -0, LG-4, LR-0, raw 97, scaled 177. I'm feeling good about this. Reallllll good.
Anyone know where I could find a list of schools that average LSATs? I find it somewhat ridiculous that my 168 will basically negate any achievement I make on this (barring an impossible stroke of luck or divine intervention granting a 180).

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Took 55 and 56 today.
55
LR: -3
RC: -5
LR: -7
LG: -4
Raw: 81
Scaled: 162
Disappointed by this; the lowest score I've had since my third PT. I wasn't really into it, which is evident by the -7 on the second LR; normally I range from -2 to -5 on that section.
56
LG: -5
LR: -2
LR: -5
RC: -2
Raw: 86
Scaled: 167
Felt better about this one, especially since a couple of the LG questions I missed were dumb/lazy mistakes. Easily could have had a -3 on that section. Also, one of the questions I missed on the first LR was a pick 'em. Good way to end the day. Taking 57 and 58 tomorrow, 59 on Thursday.

This makes me nervous for pt 60 on thursday. I have been above 172 for 4 straight tests, hopefully I can do it.3|ink wrote:168 on PT 60 today. That's like a monthly low for me. I haven't gone below 170 in quite some time. Here's the breakdown:

I've been taking games for granted lately. I'm hoping that's the cause. However, it seemed that these games required more subtle deductions that usual. It seemed like they were rooting out rule drivers from those who can make the big deductions fast.Patriot1208 wrote:This makes me nervous for pt 60 on thursday. Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I had a similar experience when I took 59 this afternoon. -5 on the first LR (I missed two in the first ten, not thrilled about that) and -3 on the second. -2 on RC and LG. Kind of unhappy about my LG score. I finished with 3 minutes to spare. I should have taken a little more time, but then again, -2 is a perfectly fine score. My last five PTs have been 170 and above and I plan on taking PT 60 on Thursday.eit wrote:WonkyPanda wrote:Took PT 59 today and DAMN the first LR blew my mind. Strangely enough, as I was taking the test on the quiet floor of the library, some idiots decided to start listening to 911 tapes at high volume. Can I expect blood curdling screams during the test? Naturally after I told them to knock it off a fraternity on their required study time decided to show up and jack around for two hours.

Its unfortunate too because LG will likely be the difference maker on the test because I've been so consistent on the other sections. I just keep making stupid mistakes.

Well, that's my RC. I go anywhere from -4 to -8 always. I keep drilling RC and just cannot seem to get it together. If I could get RC on par with the rest of my sections i'd be lock for 175+. As it is now i'm not even sure i'll get 170+minnbills wrote:Wow! I envy you man. My LG have been terrible recently, mostly around -6 or even -7. Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Taking 58 tomorrow. I still have 51 and 54...going to part those out and drill just a ton of sections throughout the day - probably including the ones I've done horribly on the last few days (60 RC, 59 RC, 57 LR2).
I really feel my concentration is going to be the issue on Saturday. If I'm 100% there through the first 3 hours, I'll have a chance at a 180 regardless of curve. If I'm any less than 90% there, I won't see the good side of 173.
I notice that most of the LR wrong answers I get are on questions that I don't necessarily answer right away, but ones where I have to briefly weigh two choices before confidently going with one (as opposed to one I'm truly torn on). Does anybody else have this problem? And if so, how do you counteract it?
I'm debating marking those questions as "pitfall" questions or something so that I have a list of 6-8 to check on in the 3-4 minutes at the end of a section, as something to do to potentially grab a point here or there. I realize this is kind of late - if I'd had this epiphany earlier, I could do more with it...
As for my consistency, I seem to have flashes where I can get LR/RC to -1 or -2 for the test. However, this never happens to both at the same time. (Today -7 LR -2 RC, yesterday -5 RC -4 LR...) I keep telling myself it's going to put itself together one of these days, but I'm running out of time...

As for the other issue, I feel you on that. I get a -2 or -3 half the time on LR and RC, and the other I get a -5 or -6. I just need a -2/-2/-3 or so on those sections; I usually get a -2/-3/-6 every exam.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
RC between 53 and 55 is very, very difficult.
Got a -5 on RC 53 today and needed to fill in the last 3 answers as time expired then did RC 36 immediately afterward and got a -1 and finished in 31 minutes.
I'm so nervous for RC, whereas I think I have LG and LR under control, I can go -1 to -7 on RC depending on different factors. That could be the difference between a 173 and a 167, and that could be the difference between getting into... (etc etc)
