Re: The Official June 2014 Study Group
I just scored a 162 on PT 62
RC -12
LR -4
LG -1
LR -9
I'm not going to lie. When I graded it with 7sage I honestly thought some sort of mistake was made.
Wasn't really expecting a 162.
I am very disappointed with that RC score and that -9 on LR.
If I could just minimize the damage I'd be looking at 165+
Still going to be drilling games very heavily until test day. As you can see I pretty much need to be perfect to have any shot at a decent score.

Yeah, that's a good way to look at it I suppose. It seems like all of the modern June exams are "easier" (have a tough curve), why is this?rebexness wrote:Just think that its not YOU doing poorly- its the test having a tougher curve. Tougher curve= easier test, theoretically.CincinnatusND wrote:After getting my best score yet on PT65 yesterday, PT66 destroyed me today. -5 on the RC, -3 on the games..
I feel as if I always do poorly on June exams, not great for confidence heading into Monday.
I'm thinking that maybe I struggle more with these "easier" tests because I'm so consistent on LR, it doesn't really matter how difficult the LR sections are intended to be, so it generally behooves me when more leeway is given.

You're scoring better than ~87 of test takers. You're at about the average for undergrads at Harvard.
That's pretty damn good already, and you'll get better still.
I feel like you could add some points in RC. Your RC shouldn't really be much lower than your LR. The two sections are too similar.
What do you think your hangups are with RC? Are you skimming through the passage?

RC is pretty much a mystery to me. I majored in English so in a way I've come to neglect it thinking I'll be alright. Obviously not true. I read really fast. Maybe this is my problem? I feel like this helps me see the structure and how paragraphs are related. I usually see the big picture easily. I don't know. I have the Manhattan 4th Edition RC. I should probably finish it before test day.papercut wrote:

The answer choices are designed to confuse the shit out of you.
To take that power away from them, you need to really know the passage well. The only way that's gonna happen is if you slow down and really take it in. You should spend more time on the passage than on the questions--as much as a minute more.

Just did prep test 70 in the building that I'm taking the test at. Scored 170 /:
-3 RC
-2 on the first LR
-0 on games (yay)
-6 on LR2 (ouch)
Anyone else find this second LR section a bit hard? Or did fatigue get the better of me?

Didn't you score 150 a couple weeks ago?
That is a huge improvement. I hope that my next PT is a 162! Give yourself a pat on the back tonight. But then get back to work tomorrow

I'm just focusing on games which I neglected. I just did games from PT 40. Not sure how difficult this was, but I kind of felt like I didn't know what I was doing, and got -5 wrong, I'm sure all dumb mistakes. I should be upset but I am not because I felt like I was kind of on auto-pilot and am glad I have the fundamentals for set-ups down despite not having done games in a while. #whatevs
Also, I didn't feel pressed for time at all.

Some of the 40s games are really strange. Not necessarily difficult, but odd enough that you waste a second going HUH?berkeleynick wrote:I'm just focusing on games which I neglected. Re: The Official June 2014 Study Group
I did score a 150 a couple of weeks ago. I don't think that was very representative, however. I really know this stuff to a degree. I'm hoping June 9th will be the day of my best performance. I'd like to think of myself as a clutch player. I'm going to rise to the occasion. I know I have the skills to do it. Right now, my biggest concern is games. I've seen a few lately that have literally paralyzed me. I can't have that happen on test day. It will destroy me. When I got that 150 that's what happened to me. I had two games in one section that I couldn't solve. It was frightening.Louis1127 wrote:Louie, louierodriguez wrote:I just scored a 162 on PT 62

LOL yeahhhh definitely weird. The airlines game I didn't really do a proper diagram. I just kind of went with it. And same with the monkeys/pandas one. Probably why I got 5 wrong lol. Hey, I'm just happy I haven't lost the skills and did fine under the time pressure. Plus, the whole, 'This isn't real,' mentality always gets to me and makes me just wanna finish and be done with the section. I know I shouldn't count on not having that mentality on test-day, but it's hard to help it.rebexness wrote:Some of the 40s games are really strange. Lol I guess I am just being hopeful that test day I'm on point.
Is anyone else taking Zicam and/or Emergen-C this week leading up to the test? I felt a tickle in my throat this weekend and bought some Sunday as to not risk it. I will NOT GET SICK THE WEEKEND PRIOR LOL.

This has actually crossed my mind. I've noticed a cough throughout the day. I'm not too worried about it though. Now that you mention it, I'll probably pick up some orange juice tomorrow.berkeleynick wrote:Lol I guess I am just being hopeful that test day I'm on point.

Anyone know of any interesting speakers?
I enjoy watching Malcolm Gladwell give lectures. Anyone know of anything similar? I've watched a few interviews with the Supreme Court Justices as well. Those were cool.
Doesn't have to be law related, but I welcome it.

I really hope PT72 doesn't open up with a non-experimental RC section. I hate opening with RC.

I'm the opposite. I'd rather start with RC. It's a different mode of thinking for me and I'd rather not have to go back and forth during the exam.dasani13 wrote:same here, that's why I plan on doing 1-2 passages before the test. I think starting with games would be terrible.
I'd rather be deep in LSAT mode and then subtly transition into it.
