Also, I'm applying in Fall 2018. I have a few good professors right now who like me but I'm worried they won't remember enough about my work by Spring 2018 to write me a good rec. Should I ask them now? Ask a different professor later?
If I got a 170+ I would 100% not retake. 167 or below I 100% would. 168 I probably would, and 169 I'm really unsure.

This LG is where my diagnostic was. Drill games like no tomorrow using 7Sage perfection method, and pick up the LG Bible. My diagramming ended up being a hybrid between those two resources' methods so feel free to improvise to find what works best for you.
I think I will probably get the bible if nothing else. Thusfar my strategy has just been endless PTs (but I admittedly started studying far too recently)

Do you watch the 7sage explanations on youtube? they are invaluable.

I've watched so many of those videos that sometimes when I'm doing LG I'll find myself explaining the question in that guy's voice in my head.

I used to think that at first, that they were unfounded, but found the answer is based on what the author has actually said in the passage. Anytime the author makes an argument, that is likely where those types of answers will be.

Another great PT today. Finished most sections (even LG!!!) with time to spare.

PT 67

RC: -2
LR1: -0
LG: -1
LR2: -1

177

Feeling great one month out. I'm seeing a lot of other high scores around here too. We're gonna kill that test!

Rock on everyone. 8)

I started a sort of "game". The goal would be trying to see what kind of awareness do I have after having taken a test, in order to build a sort of "error margin" around my self-perception of a test. I mean, after a test I try to predict how many questions I could have missed in each section, mostly based on how easy do I find a section and how much time / struggle do I need to complete that.

PT 54 today:

LR1: -2 (-2 predicted)
LR2: -1 (-2 predicted)
RC: -5 (-5 predicted // time struggles as always, got wrong the last 3 questions..)
LG: -0 (-0 predicted)

Score: 172 (171 predicted)

This repeated to every test is meant to give my the error margin perception/actual score, to be used after the test day. It is probably absolutely useless your perception in there is kinda distorted.
Anyway, I like to do that, and it could in some way alleviate the month before the results... Or maybe worsen it... Don't know bruh, I just have so many inferences in my head I don't feel lucid anymore

29 days to landing

Didn't know anyone else did this haha...So I actually think there is some merit to this - not necessarily from a 'doing better' standpoint, but from a not being super anxious waiting for scores to come out perspective.
I actually predicted my exact score on Dec 16. I figured best case scenario (i.e. I got like half of the ones I had to guess on right) I'd land with a 170, but felt that a 168 was probably right on the money since I figured to get somewhere around 20% of the guesses correct. I ended up getting a couple guesses correct, but missed 1 or 2 that I thought I had done correctly. Ended up squarely on a 168. If nothing else, it was pretty funny to know that I had accurately assessed my performance.

I'm usually pretty spot on with my guesses, especially LG and LR. RC is a bit more guesswork, but I still have a pretty good idea if I messed anything up.

Took PT 75 this afternoon and I don't wanna grade it because I am afraid... :?

Also, are any of you saving specific tests in the event you need to retake?

I'm saving 72-76 in case a retake is necessary, also probably some of the late 50's for drilling.

The first game in LG threw me off. I didn't know how to diagram the game and it took me WAY too much time to work my way through the questions. Had to guess on two questions on the last game because I ran out of time. Haven't been over -2 on LG in a while  but staying in the 170s is good. If I can keep RC under -5 I think I will be ok.

I think 168+ plus and I won't retake. Hopefully a score above that, military experience, and a 3.84 can produce some good options.

I took the same test today and got a 151 (about average for me, but I'm hoping to do much better on game day). Any tips on being more consistent with LR?

Hey, I saw in another thread you said you spend about 3+ hours reviewing a single test. Would you mind sharing an overview of your process?

I bit the bullet and graded PT 75, skipped blind review (but will give it a real review later). I did great in LR (for me!) but RC... I thought you loved me...

PT 75: 171

LR1: -1
RC: -6
LR2: -2
LG: 0

At least LG is there for me. Had a weird time with that section (I really hate when it is last. I also hate when it is first) had the most trouble with the second game with the trees...

Lol that makes three of us on 67. We must have a mind meld going on.

Hey navy maybe you shouldn't do the games in order. I try to do the harder ones first. On this LG section that was the fourth game about the zones. So I did that one first and worked backwards. I finished with a few minutes to spare and went -1, and I'm pretty weak at games (I average -2).

I'm not saving any. I just want to go all in on take one. Also, retaking PTs seems to be perfectly good practice. I think the only downside is that you don't have a fresh PT to calm your nerves (or send you into a state of panic) before the retake.

This. I'm sure there will be some older PTs with sections that I don't do (I use the pre 50s tests solely for Experimentals and drilling problem areas) but if I have to retake I'm sure I can just do some of my used PTs again. No way I remember all that much, except for maybe a couple of brutal games (Looking at you dinosaur game...),

I haven't gotten over 3 wrong in a while, so I'd say its easily my most consistent section. I learned it by working through the trainer and following the Trainer's 12 week study schedule which I abandoned about halfway through so I could customize towards my strengths and weakness and use outside resources (RC and LR the trainer was great but I found LG to be lacking). I did all the drills as prescribed, and I also got a hold of a retired version of Kim's schedule that uses older PTs, which includes drill sets that I use to hone in on problem areas. For example, last couple weeks I was doing uncharacteristically poorly on strengthen and SA questions, so I reviewed the trainer lessons and then worked through drill sets in the retired version of the schedule.

If you or anyone else wants a copy of the retired schedule PM me, its useful just for the LR drill sets even if you don't use the trainer. Alternatively, you can email Mike Kim directly, which is how I got it.

I've redone PTs, and a month separation makes them fair game for me again, especially since I started in-depth review fairly late in my process.
