Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
173! Would be happier with 175+, but no shit what a pointless thing to say.
Up from 166 in October. The 166 was partially due to utter failure to remain calm after a disappointing Section 1 LG performance (which turned out to be EXP!) leading to my worst-ever LR score of -10 total; even my absolute cold diagnostic 6 years ago when I took a free PT session for fun was -6 or so for LR. For retake, total removal from LSAT studying between October and January. Couldn't retake in December due to schedule. Then in January started up with LG drilling/7sage and PT-taking.
173 is about mid-range of what I expected coming out of the test on test day: 169 if nothing went my way, 178-179 if absolutely everything went my way, 170 (hopeful) safe estimate, but likely 171-174.
I would comment on what I estimate the curve to be, but once you get a few points above 170 it gets harder to tell because the closer you get to -0/180, the less the curve affects your score if at all.
Here's how I felt about each section in case this is useful information for anyone trying to gauge how they did:
Section 1, LR: LR is supposed to be my backbone. On PT's I usually breeze through and have 3-5 minutes at the end to check through. Had much difficulty and stress on this one, maybe because it was my first section and I had WAY too much adrenaline. This is the one that had the mice and fleas in the nest with the presence of some kind of herb or something. On top of not being confident with several of my answers in this section, the resultant time crunch forced me to guess completely on 1 question and half-guess on another. In my post-test estimate, I reserved about -1 to -4 for this section.
Section 2, RC: I spent about 15 minutes on the first passage, both due to the proctor breathing very heavily right behind me, and because it was the one about the sculptor. I always do badly on the "minorities in the arts" passages. I thought I was totally screwed at that point, but flew through the next 3 prompts and felt extremely confident about them. I loved the shrubs one but thats because some of the questions were almost LR questions. Post-test estimate: -0 to -3
Section 3, LR: My perception gets fuzzy here because my EXP section was also LR. But I think this was the one with the bats and moths (unless that was in the same section as the mice/fleas). I couldn't remember enough specifics at this point to fully differentiate between the 2nd real LR and the exp, but I felt very confident about both. Post-test estimate: -0 to -2
Section 4, LG: Was frustratingly straightforward set of games. Frustratingly because that means I should have finished the section with no rushed answers. Alas, I think I tend to over-check answers on test day which adds up and slows me down in the end. Came back to Game 3 with 7-9 minutes after finishing Game 4. Had to rush the last 3-4 questions of Game 3 because panic prevented me from (1), slowing down to find inferences at the beginning and then (2) efficiently and calmly brute-forcing once I decided to jump from the set up to the questions. Also possibly rushed 1 question in Game 4 when I wanted to make sure I had time to go back to sufficiently address Game 3. Post-test Estimate: -2 to -4.
For anyone struggling with LG, I started off only being able to finish 1 game in 35 minutes. And that game would be the 1 sequencing game in the section. And I'd probably still get 1 wrong in that game. 7sage and Cambridge drill packets are your friend.
Cheers, everyone, and good luck!

I thought i didn't do my best but I didn't think it would be THAT bad. I'm pretty sad right now
I scored below my potential too, which is upsetting. I'm sitting out this cycle, and I had already sent in my apps, thinking I definitely scored amazing since my PTs were showing it.
However, I'm plannign to either quit my job or switch to part-time work and focus on my LSAT 100%. I know I want this, I know I can do this. I just need more time, that's all. Don't give up yet. Give yourself another chance! I've taken it twice, I'm at least going to take it a third time before I give up!

does anyone finds it necessary to explain big disparity between two LSAT scores (more than 15 points)

I'm not gonna take it again. I sacrificed a lot, probably more than I should have, for this take. And I dropped the ball...I'm already in several schools but haven't heard from my top choice yet & I'm below their 25th...I'm just really disappointed and can't keep putting my life on pause for another yearlizzielemon wrote:Don't think like that Abbey.AbbeyS wrote:Thank you...but I don't know. Sorry to hear that. I also am disappointed in my LSAT. I will be doing a one year masters program in oceanography starting in June. Probably never have as much time to prepare for the LSAT as I did this past winter. I blew it.

Eh. I talked right after I took the test and when I got greyed. Not many people in my real life even know what the LSAT is, and I wanted to share.AbbeyS wrote:I wanna punch all the lurkers who didn't say shit for the entire 113 pages then just popped up to brag about their score

And hey... All the shooting in the gym occurred before this thread was made, didn't it? This thread was just gossiping in the locker room.

The shooting in the gym was us coming together as a group and supporting each other during the wait but it was a joke anyway. Trying to bring humor to the fact that my life is in shamblesjb111 wrote:Eh. I talked right after I took the test and when I got greyed. I am not you so I cannot say for sure, but I can say with 99% certainty that your life is not in shambles. You seem smart and energetic. You are going to do well. We are all gonna make it. Lurkers or regs or hit our PT or missed it or whatever else.AbbeyS wrote:The shooting in the gym was us coming together as a group and supporting each other during the wait but it was a joke anyway. Not certain I'm ready. But how do they score the tests so quick?

For real tho
Y'all regular posters have been great
I hope everyone finds peace in the scores they received and that they have the opportunity to pursue their ambitions.
TBH I'm strongly leaning towards a retake, but for now GIF TIEM!
