Yeah, I'm trying to think of how much money this will save me in the long-run. Somewhat helps with the pain of wasting all of this money.
There's a place on campus that will print and bind stuff for you for 5 cents a page, so I just use them. I must have dropped 200 bucks on printing alone thus far.

So it's actually better to do my drilling and PTs on paper rather than PDF? Besides less strain on my eyes, what are the advantages to doing it this way?

I already have a topic, it's just connecting that topic to everything else I want to introduce/say in my statement that is throwing me off. I don't know if it's been overdone because it is a bit unusual, but it describes me so I'm at a bit of a conundrum.. :/34iplaw wrote:
If by guidance, you mean a topic. I sort of suggest the following to everyone... if something is on your mind... just write it out. Don't worry about getting your specific essay topic yet. Just write about some things that matter to you. It could be a paragraph. It could be five pages. Just make sure you are writing something, preferably a few times a week. If you think a specific topic could be good, write it out and see what happens. Leave it alone for a few days. When you do decide on a topic, I would leave your rough draft alone for a few days and rewrite the entire statement from memory. You may think of new phrasing, ordering, etc. that you would not have thought of if you simply tried to revise your essay constantly.
Thanks for the writing tips though. I might try and piece part of it together later this week.

All this talk of caffeine is motivating me to get a new box of my Yogi tea today! I don't like coffee my body doesn't take it too well (partly because I drank too much of it along with red bulls awhile back), but I LOVE the Starbucks green tea with lemonade.. So. Damn. Good. Also, so much money I could be pouring into LSAT prep..Barack O'Drama wrote:Had to go with the Iced Caramel Macchiato! But I am also too lazy to get up, get dressed, leave my room, and walk across the street to Starbucks to get it.
Your picture has inspired me. Heading out now! I have no excuse because it is literally across the street, lol.
That wasn't hard at all. Back in 10 minutes flat! Man I'm so glad that's over. Now to watch some 7Sage lessons and get some drilling done.
Ahh! Good luck. Dreaded is correct, I thought reading comprehension could be my favorite when I started the LSAT, because I understood it best. Now it is my least favorite haha.

I don't BR either. I erase my answers try to BR the problem and if I still get it wrong then intensively review the problem, put the problem in my LR notebook and review that until its seared into my memory.SweetTort wrote:So, I have to make a confession.
I've never BR'ed.
I know I should, I just get too anxious to check my score after I take a test.

It's more realistic? lol.. Idk I print everything though and buy the preptest volumes, I have the 40s and the 60s, I was planning on buying the 70s on PDF, printing them, and making them into mini preptests. I also have Cambridge LR/RC/LG on PDF and print those when I'm drilling. I mean on the real deal you are not going to use a computer, so it's similar to simulating test conditions.olikatz wrote:

I have two extra ink cartridges sitting in the laundry room and I use my mom's printer, paper costs around 4-5$ for 400 sheets at Target, and Fry's often has the 99 cent deals, so it's a really good investment.

I mean you can do whatever works for you. I do LG drilling on regular loose-leaf paper, but I can't do that with LR and RC. With those 2 I have to have them printed/copied from the original PT.olikatz wrote:TheMikey wrote:Damn, well hey you gotta do what you gotta do! haha. Yeah, I was planning on it. Thanks though. I will start PTing in about a week or two, so I need to calculate how many preptests I can get in and review along with drilling for problem areas. I plan on definitely using the 60s and 70s (as full preptests) and if needed I'll use the 50's for experimental sections. That way I can kill two birds with one stone. I was hoping to get ALL the 40s-70s in but getting through the 7 Sage curriculum is taking a lot longer than I thought plus work got in the way. I'm putting everything on hold now to do this full time.TheMikey wrote:Use the 70's PT for full timed PTingngogirl12 wrote:It's more realistic? lol.. On a positive note I'll be finishing the Manhattan RC Guide today, I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling with RC. I have been going through it really slowly over the span of 6 months with breaks in between. I have taken notes on every chapter. I don't do everything they advocate like write a passage map after reading the passage or doing a scale. However, I use their PEAR technique, and mentally try to do a passage map.
I haven't started drilling RC yet, but all the passages I've done in the book thusfar have been met with a high level of success. It's still my #1 target area after LR, but this book has been terrific. After I finish it, I'll start drilling RC and go through the Blueprint/Trainer books.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WELCOME JUNE WAITERS
Conditional reasoning is scattered throughout the LR and LG sections.olikatz wrote:Deardevil wrote: Conditional reasoning revolves around sufficient and necessary conditions.
The former is an occurrence that "guarantees" something that follows,
whether the latter will happen, is happening, or already happened.
For instance, a necessary condition, or a requirement, for the sufficient condition "enter law school" can be "take LSAT."
To be in law school, you must eventually take the LSAT, are currently taking the LSAT, or have already taken the LSAT.
The necessary condition, however, cannot guarantee that the sufficient condition is met.
Just because you have taken the LSAT doesn't necessarily mean you got in law school;
maybe you changed your mind at the last minute or no TT schools accepted you.
Let's denote "enter law school" as "A" and "take LSAT" as "B." As established, it is true that A -> B.
B -> A means "take LSAT" is sufficient for "enter law school," which is not the case. This is commonly known as the mistaken reversal.
Simiarly, another error is to negate both sides, resulting in ~A -> ~B, which says "not entering law school shows that LSAT isn't taken."
Again, that doesn't have to be the case because you not entering could be due to other reasons AFTER taking the LSAT.
Finally, by reversing AND negating, you get the contrapositive, ~B -> ~A, which IS true and is ALWAYS true, given that A -> B is true.
By saying you haven't taken the LSAT, it must mean you aren't going to law school because we know the LSAT is one of the many requirements.
Sufficient conditions can be easily identified by words like "if" and "when."
Anything that sounds remotely like those two indicates sufficiency. Necessity is easily seen with "must" or "required."
Sufficient assumption, or justify the conclusion, questions and assumption questions use these terms,
such as "which one of the following, IF assumed, justifies the conclusion?" or "which assumption below does the author DEPEND/NEED?"
A special case is "only if." Is it sufficient? It has "if..." No. It's actually necessary.
What if I said "you will win only if you train hard?" How would you reword this sentence? "If you win, you MUST train hard."
Finally, there's "unless." At first, this was tricky.
Let's say a problem presents a situation where a person cannot enter a club UNLESS he/she is 21.
There's no "if" or "must." So how do you figure out the sufficient and necessary conditions?
"Unless," or "without," like "only if," modifies what is immediately after it. In this case, it's the age limit.
NOTE that once you determine what is necessary, you have to NEGATE the sufficient condition, the other piece of information.
Translated, this simply reads "if a person CAN enter a club, then he/she must be 21."
Hope this makes sense.
Pretty good summary, makes perfect sense. I'll try to apply it now
Once you've done enough of these types of questions, they're like freebies.

Didn't study today for once.
Been reading a lot of personal statements and thinking "wow, you deserve to be admitted."
Really inspired by these accounts, ranging from tragedy to triumph, and hope mine can match their caliber.
