Yea- good idea.34iplaw wrote:Probably. Yeah - I'm not worried. I'll apply, see what my offers are, and then weigh whether CLS is worth waiting a year for a better score.jagerbom79 wrote:OH shit! I have been off the grid (went on a 10-day bender after the semester ending) so I didn't even know scores were released.Congrats on the awesome score, but I know exactly what you are talking about since we've talked before and I feel like are in a similar position with similar aspirations. I think you are in a better position with Penn then CLS/NYU no?34iplaw wrote:I got a 170. I got my RC down, but I ignored LR and it got rusty. Not what I expected, but I looked at the numbers and a 170->174 for a soft-ish splitter doesn't really matter much outside of CLS, even for scholarships it seems. So, I'll apply this cycle and possibly retake in June...I may do it even if I get into NYU or Penn... just because I know I can do better than that. CLS/NYU are nice b/c they are in NYC, but I imagine UPENN actually probably aligns with my interests more.jagerbom79 wrote:Lol you definitely crush Dec, and aren't going to need to check in bro34iplaw wrote:Tentatively checking in?
That feeling when you knew you -0d your experimental section so much that you wrote -0 on your scantron... lol.
Either way, congrats bro. It will all workout

I've done Blind review a few times. Each time resulting in a 'perfect' Blind Review score. I've also done two LR sections without using a 35 minute clock, but instead just going through them as long as it takes, both time getting -0 in just under an hour. However, it hasn't translated yet into anything profitable on a real timed section. So, I think I am getting the concepts, just rushing when timed. I have trouble putting into practice the fact that if I only get through 20 questions but they are all correct, that is better than getting through 26 with 8 incorrect.Walliums wrote:Don't forget to do Blind Review!saf18hornet wrote:Hi all! I'm joining this group as I am planning my first take in June for applying next cycle.
I have aspirations of money to attend a T10 school, but because of my GPA (3.52) I will need a 170+. I took my diagnostic the day before Thanksgiving and got a 148 (-4/-15/-12/-18(RC) with half attributed to running out of time). I've been studying since just after Thanksgiving and PTing at 160 right now.
LG is by far my best section. My diagnostic test was -4 in LG and since then I get about 1 LG question wrong every 3 or 4 tests (I've completed 12 PT's thus far). Before you call me lucky, just know the LR and RC have been a huge uphill battle. I have basically scored -0/-8/-8/-8 on my last 5 PT's.
Gonna keep trying to get 1 more question right at a time. 2 points a month til June and I'll be where I need to be, slow and steady!
Let's do this!
But what's really the best way for me to get to -1/-2 consistently? I'm assuming just repetition. I've only done test 42-51, and the superprep tests, so I have plenty left.

If you can afford to, I recommend getting the LG Bible which has an extensive review of how to tackle the games, as well as real questions from the LSAT.dm1683 wrote:Hey guys, I need advice on something. My major weakness is LG, where I went -13 on my cold diagnostic. LR and RC aren't too bad (-1/-4 and -3, respectively). My study materials (the 7sage course and the Trainer) start with long sections on LR and stress that I should not jump around and should progress through their guides in the way they are set up. So I would be doing LR first, then RC (for 7sage) or LG (for Trainer) My intuition (and some posters on here) tells me that I should begin with my weakness, LG, and get that down first (learn diagramming and game types etc.) before refining my skills in my strong areas. What should I do?

Already did. Ordered it a week ago from Amazon. They said it was out of stock at the time and they would ship it when they have it.rubixcube wrote:If you can afford to, I recommend getting the LG Bible which has an extensive review of how to tackle the games, as well as real questions from the LSAT.dm1683 wrote:Hey guys, I need advice on something. Re: The Official June 2017 Study Group
Well I took the plunge. I got the 7Sage Starter package with a two month extension so it gets me to the June test. Hopefully that's enough. I also have the Trainer so if sh*t hits the fan I have a back-up.
The 7Sage schedule has me at 10 hours a week, which is perfect since I have a full load at school. I noticed I have one PT in week 2, then I don't have another one until late March. Does that sound right? Also, only 10 PT's total, which sounds a little low, right?
I'm trusting all the rave reviews of both. And I'm not getting any bibles for now. Hoping 7Sage can do the trick with Trainer if needed.

Could someone explain the 3 in 2 year rule to me? I can take those tests at any point during that timeframe, right? So if I took it in June 201) and sept. 2016, I'm fine to take it in June, correct?

Guys, what is the difference between PT and drills (new to all of this). How much is recommended of each?

Drills could be defined as doing a full timed section or even just doing one game at a time, or even just 10 questions at a time, keeping track of score and time of completion.Everythingimnot wrote:Guys, what is the difference between PT and drills (new to all of this). I recommend doing drills and timed sections first before jumping into full, 4 or 5 section Practice Tests. My study plan is to go through at least 50 PT's. Doing probably 80% as timed sections and 20% as simulated full tests. (Historically, I don't really suffer from test anxiety or long test fatigue, so I am comfortable with this ratio)

Re: The Official June 2017 Study Group
My first 2 weeks of testing were spent solely on LG. I used the LG categories here:dm1683 wrote:Hey guys, I need advice on something. My major weakness is LG, where I went -13 on my cold diagnostic. I organized PT's 42-61 by 4 categories, Linear, Grouping, Mixed, Other. I printed out 3 copies each of every single game and then did every linear game in order, 1 at a time, keeping track of time to complete each game and my score. If I got any wrong, I watched the 7sage video and also noted the time 7sage expects the game to take as a reference. Once I finished all the Linear games once through, I then did every grouping game in order, following the same scoring/timing process and review method.
Next, I redid every one of those linear and grouping games one at a time again, aiming for perfect scores and a quicker time of completion.
Only after I was getting about -1 per every 4 games total did I move on to the Mixed games. I am about 6 weeks in and still have not done any of the 'Other" category games.
Anecdote: I find that grouping games take 1-2 minutes longer for me than 7sage estimates, and linear games I complete significantly faster than the estimates. Figure out where your real weakness is and drill that. You can do games over and over and not have them memorized because they are all so similar that they mix together.
Hope this helps!

Im doing the same. I could have stuck to just reviewing the Bibles but a lot of people have had great success w/ Manhattan as well so I figured extra perspectives could only be helpful. Personally, I thought Manhattan >>> PowerScore for LG, but I tend to learn better the second time a concept is introduced and read PowerScore first which may be the reason for my preference.jagerbom79 wrote:Im doing the same. hmm yea, it seems like pretty split preference. I did like PS when i did it. What are your thoughts on LR? TBH, I don't think I did Manhattan or PowerScore LR. By the time I got done with LG, my TestMasters was in full swing, and I had literally zero time for prep outside of the course.jagerbom79 wrote: hmm yea, it seems like pretty split preference. I think the Manhattan section on Rule Substitution is quite good, and I don't recall something in PowerScore that was quite as good.

Hey guys checking in for my first take in June 17.
I decided to not take a diagnostic now, since I am clueless about logic games and reasoning. I have the Bible's+ trainer. I've read and absolutely loved the trainer for LR. I have yet to open the powerscore LRB, but I will read the trainer before I do. With that being said I was reading the LG section of the trainer and personally was lost.
I opened up the Powerscore LGB and holy moly - the difference. I love the setup, the drills. I like that they use actual LSAT examples too. I definitely suggest the LGB. It's broken down so easy where I felt the trainer with only a couple chapters dedicated to LG, it didn't explain it as good. But best of luck !

I bought the ultimate one, but if you just want it for the curriculum then you can get the starter one. If you don't want PT explanations, that is. The only thing different among each one is that they give you more practice problems and PT explanations. If you have all the PTs then you don't need the practice problems obviously, and if you don't care about the PT explanations then yeah the basic one. But if you wanna go all out and have everything then go with ultimate+cherrygalore wrote:Which 7Sage should I buy? Ultimate+, Ultimate, Premium, etc.?
