They would pretty much without a doubt make you more proficient and reading, writing, analyzing, etc. All of which are helpful for any career, especially a law career. Plus it will teach you about things outside of law, which may help you use your law degree better. It's obviously not necessary, but I wouldn't say they're useless. Perhaps from the perspective of a prospective employer, perhaps, but that's hardly a dispositive measure of usefulness.

Compared to the 160,000 industry standard and future raises and bonuses and perks of big law, which will more than make up for the measly 3,000 a month for 10 years even if you go into major debt 300k+.

Even with that debt chunking out you'd still be making at least 100k+ a year. And by the time the 10 years are up your salary will practically double because of all the raises and bonuses and no longer having to pay off loans anymore, and that's if you don't make an equity partner.
