taken an actual administration before? how did you get RC to such level? iirc late 50s rc has some tough passages in it.
September will be my first time.

Tbh RC is my worst section. I've been able to improve it recently by doing it over and over and over again. I recommend making RC packets and doing them until your eyes bleed.
Can you elaborate on how you are making RC Packets- what do this packets consist of? Just multiple sections of RC from PTs?.. Thanks
I've been doing packets of 4 sections with corresponding difficulties. So, if one packet includes the easiest natural science, it'll also have the hardest humanities, or something like that.

Tho I think I'm going to do what I did with LG and bump up my RC packets to 5 passages, so there's no chance of running out of time on test day.

Yeah - making some inferences in advance / splitting the game if need be can really speed up the process.

yes, but if no inferences show after a few moments you need to move on and draw hypos. some newer LG has games that have little to no inferences upfront.

Okay thought so. I have been doing it too, but just wanted to make sure that taking those few extra moments to do that was smart. thanks

if you need help waking up early, there's an app called 'sleep cycle' that will wake up you up when you're in the lightest phase of your sleep within a 30 minute time frame of your choosing. I've been using it and it really works. It's free.

I managed to get through the rest of the conditional reasoning questions, Ch 9 of MLR, and Set 2 of Principles. I got completely turned around on 46.2.23 . Moral of the story - while it's best to rely on intuition, if you have to draw it out, draw it out
Also noticing I'm really struggling with "illustrate the proposition" questions. Haven't seen very many of these and it's definitely throwing me off.

Started doing repeated drills of RC sets (thanks SweetTort!) Definitely getting higher than I did originally on these, which is positive reinforcement, and hopefully that will eventually translate to better performance on new sections.

Thanks for this. I was in on that webinar too, it kind of made me panic because I haven't been working on my personal statement in lieu of studying for the LSAT.

I have an idea of how I want to start out, it's anecdotal but I don't know how to connect that part with my later actions and move towards law school.

My friend ironically I met through 7Sage gave me a bunch of books to read, so I think I might go that route. I'm just nervous about this and curious as to what other people are doing.

Have any of yous checked out the Law School Personal Statement subsection of this forum? I have briefly looked at some of the sticky'd threads, but wanted to see if there might be some guidance as to what is most useful. Also, anyone interested in trying to start up a chat room (Slack?) for bouncing ideas around or getting outsider's perspective? Feel like that might be mucho helpful for figuring out topics.

Yeah - ditto on thanks for posting that. I wanted to join it, but, simply put, I didn't. I'm pretty active on there, and I actually get PMd PS's fairly often now. Feel free to PM me any ideas, and I'll try to give my feedback as a strong writer/reader with not a great deal of adcom desires other than the generic 'why law school' type stuff. I actually typed out a portion of a PS while not sober on my phone. It seems pretty solid, IMO... will likely scrap a lot of it, but I think the theme has strong footing.

I'll try my best to sum it up.

Conditional reasoning revolves around sufficient and necessary conditions.
The former is an occurrence that "guarantees" something that follows,
whether the latter will happen, is happening, or already happened.
For instance, a necessary condition, or a requirement, for the sufficient condition "enter law school" can be "take LSAT."
To be in law school, you must eventually take the LSAT, are currently taking the LSAT, or have already taken the LSAT.

The necessary condition, however, cannot guarantee that the sufficient condition is met.
Just because you have taken the LSAT doesn't necessarily mean you got in law school;
maybe you changed your mind at the last minute or no TT schools accepted you.
Let's denote "enter law school" as "A" and "take LSAT" as "B." As established, it is true that A -> B.
B -> A means "take LSAT" is sufficient for "enter law school," which is not the case. This is commonly known as the mistaken reversal.
Simiarly, another error is to negate both sides, resulting in ~A -> ~B, which says "not entering law school shows that LSAT isn't taken."
Again, that doesn't have to be the case because you not entering could be due to other reasons AFTER taking the LSAT.
Finally, by reversing AND negating, you get the contrapositive, ~B -> ~A, which IS true and is ALWAYS true, given that A -> B is true.
By saying you haven't taken the LSAT, it must mean you aren't going to law school because we know the LSAT is one of the many requirements.

Sufficient conditions can be easily identified by words like "if" and "when."
Anything that sounds remotely like those two indicates sufficiency. Necessity is easily seen with "must" or "required."
Sufficient assumption, or justify the conclusion, questions and assumption questions use these terms,
such as "which one of the following, IF assumed, justifies the conclusion?" or "which assumption below does the author DEPEND/NEED?"
A special case is "only if." Is it sufficient? It has "if..." No. It's actually necessary.
What if I said "you will win only if you train hard?" How would you reword this sentence? "If you win, you MUST train hard."

Finally, there's "unless." At first, this was tricky.
Let's say a problem presents a situation where a person cannot enter a club UNLESS he/she is 21.
There's no "if" or "must." So how do you figure out the sufficient and necessary conditions?
"Unless," or "without," like "only if," modifies what is immediately after it. In this case, it's the age limit.
NOTE that once you determine what is necessary, you have to NEGATE the sufficient condition, the other piece of information.
Translated, this simply reads "if a person CAN enter a club, then he/she must be 21."

Hope this makes sense.

Pretty good summary, makes perfect sense. I'll try to apply it now :D

I would definitely be interested in this. I did look at the Personal Statement threads, but I didn't find it that helpful. The threads I pored through were people who had already written theirs and decided on a law school, or other people posting their PS' and asking for a critiques. I'm looking for guidance, so as of now my plan is to dedicate 1-2 days a week on applications which includes poring through books lol.

106 degrees + sick = no motivation. Already got some studying in... plan on doing 5 more hours before the day is up.

Conditions: 5 section, 7-sage proctored, taken around 10:30 after a warmup section.

RC: -1
LR1: -1
LG: -0
LR2: -0
Raw: 99

Scaled: 180

So so so pumped. I think taking a longer warmup with questions from all three sections made a huge difference. Also, using the extra time at the end of LG helped me catch two incorrect LG answers, so always go back and check your work!
Congrats!!!

2 LG's, 2 RC passages, and questions 15-25 for LR from an old PT. Though I'm considering adding even more, because I'm still rusty during the first half of the test.

If by guidance, you mean a topic. I sort of suggest the following to everyone... if something is on your mind... just write it out. Don't worry about getting your specific essay topic yet. Just write about some things that matter to you. It could be a paragraph. It could be five pages. Just make sure you are writing something, preferably a few times a week. If you think a specific topic could be good, write it out and see what happens. Leave it alone for a few days. When you do decide on a topic, I would leave your rough draft alone for a few days and rewrite the entire statement from memory. You may think of new phrasing, ordering, etc. that you would not have thought of if you simply tried to revise your essay constantly.

I'm debating on whether I should go get myself a caramel macchiato or not. Things to consider:
