He said YS, not H. Yale and Stanford take a closer look at aspects of your application beyond numbers, because they have the small class size to afford to do so. Harvard sort of HAS to take the 3.8+/173+. That's not to say any old aspie with high numbers can get into H, but Yale and Stanford are much more efficient at filtering out the tactless and entitled who lack any sense of self awareness.

Yale and Stanford are like the hottest girls in school. Harvard is a slut so she'll hook up with anybody with a pretty face, but Yale and Stanford are classy ladies. A pretty face and big muscles aren't enough; you need a great personality too.
