Raw Score 98 --> 179

I was nervous to take a full PT today for fear of not doing well and messing with my confidence. I'm happy I did though this gives me a little reassurance.
Sweet score!! How did you get your LR down to where it is now??
I just did a lot of drilling with individual LR sections and about 3 PTs each week. I would circle all the ones that I struggled with and then go over each one tediously regardless whether I got them right or not. There was no real big method to my madness, just practice. Also, I always always try to predict the answer before looking at the choices. I feel like it mentally helped me feel more in control of the test, rather than at its mercy.
Good tips. I need to practice with a more consistent method lik this. Hopefully I'll have some fresh PTs left after this weekend.

Planning on doing that one tomorrow morning. Not sure if should score for fear of wrecking me psychologically before the test.
Don't score then. I doubt you'll glean anything from significant from it at this point imo. I'm only scoring as a method of behavior alteration now lol. Trying to immunize myself from instant freakouts over a bad score.

Just finished 72 and feel like I did relatively well. It's just all about not bogging myself down in the first 15 on LR. Obviously I feel way less stressed with extra time to finish the last few. I feel like I'm answering the questions I'm confident about with way more speed though, which has helped.

That RC question about flat tax vs progressive tax tho. Good god. I hope there are no economics passages this weekend.

Haha I'll try. I think everyone takes it at least twice, no? Haven't you done it before?

Wow this all seems way less overwhelming than it did 2 weeks ago though. Not sure why. Should be the opposite lol

[+] Spoiler
The stimulus here says that we are going to gauge the effectiveness of chess playing programes based on how they perform with fixed time limits per move. The stimulus also states that on a faster computer, any given program will be able to examine more moves in the same amount of time as it would on a slower computer and thus have a better chance of winning.

The answer, (C) is basically a rephrase of this.
A is wrong because the number of chess moves is just one aspect of how the program performs so just because it can examine more moves doesn't mean it will have a better chance of winning than a different, slower one.
B is wrong because the stimulus doesn't say anything about computer speed correlating to it's ability to run on a computer one way or the other.
D is wrong because it's comparing two different programs so just because one computer is faster doesn't mean the chess program on it will be able to analyze it faster than the program on the slower computer (maybe the program on the slower computer uses a better algorithm).
E is incorrect because there is nothing to show that giving the slower computer more time will give it exactly an equal chance.

I'm taking my final PT tomorrow morning. Don't know if I would do so if I had to take it at 7:30pm though haha. Another user noted that at this point you really only have something to lose by taking a pt at this point since it will pretty much just reaffirm your current standing, or if you make a mistake, throw your confidence. The reasoning is sound, I'm just stubborn >_>. I'd say just play it by ear. If at 7:30, you feel like it, go for it, if you don't, don't.

it's good that you don't feel overwhelmed! and yeah I've taken it twice already, but keep in mind, that I suck so, yeah. I think there does seem to be quite a bit of people who take the test twice, and usually those are the people who underperform their first take bc of nerves or something. But of course you should strive to only take it once and be done with it, but if the unfortunate happens, just get right back up and kick its ass next time. I was so devastated from my sept score being the same as June with having studied a shit ton more. literally made no sense but I'm still here so ayyy

It's so absurd I can't help but laugh. Fortunately my experience with such people is limited to stuff I've seen on the internet.

Not gonna lie. It's pretty nuts how you can answer some disagree questions by only reading one of the blurbs.

Hey guys, unfortunately I just found this forum and it's helped me a lot the past couple days. I'm taking the test this Saturday although I know it is very strongly advised against in my circumstances - I am EXTREMELY unprepared and still scoring in the low 160s - my target was a 170.

But here is the catch - I just decided to retake the test in February. While it would be wise(r) to just wait for next year's admission-year, I cannot. I am an international student on a visa, which expires in July 2017. If I don't get accepted to another program by then, I have to leave the country. I have finished my bachelors in an American University this past May and am currently working as a Legal Assistant in a law office (my 1-year visa extension is in progress right now). I have decent softs (10+ leadership positions in Uni and outside NPOs), 4 languages (fluent), and my GPA is 3.96.

My dream school is Duke, but with these PTs there is absolutely no way I can score high enough for them. I am also applying for dual degrees in International and Comparative Law (LLMs).

My question is: is taking the February LSAT a good idea?

I tried to study on my own for a month and a half, with books from the LSAC, Kaplan, and a couple other publishers. Probably got about 100+ hours total and increased from a 151 to a 163 in that period of time (October to this week). My home country is in an economic crisis so I could not afford a prep course - but I have talked to the parents and am going to enroll in one as a Christmas gift. (thanks mom and dad). I was always an extremely determined student and all that bla bla bla, but the languages barrier of English being ,y third language caught up to me and that is hindering my score - something I believe the prep course would GREATLY help with.

For TT and TTT schools, would a jump from a low-160s to a high-160s benefit in anything scholarship related?
Also, some top schools like Georgetown and Vandy have accepted a "request" for holding my application for the February test.

(And kids, don't take your circumstances for granted. I'd give ANYTHING to have just another year to work and study so I could stay in this country with a better prospect for Law School)
Duke's application due date is listed as February 15th, so even if you take the test in February, I don't think you'll be able to apply until next cycle opens. I really don't know where your home country is or how the visa program works, but is it possible to to get to one of these test centers and then reapply for a visa?: http://www.lsac.org/jd/lsat/testing-loc ... ernational
If you are already getting low sixties and aren't a native speaker, you'll probably be able to crush the LSAT in due time. I wouldn't take the February LSAT if you can take the test at an international test center later in 2017.

And yeah, with TT schools especially, having high scores is going to give you more bargaining power and make you more competitive for top scholarships.
Moving back home would unfortunately trigger a lot of things that would hinder my ability to come back to the United States unfortunately. I might, however, have to if I cannot find a way to stay. I was one week away from joining the military until the program closed, so my immigration hopes and dreams were shattered this summer - and my plans had o change drastically. I really appreciate it though!!

Fml, just went -6 on a RC section, PT59 (-3 on Noguchi passage). Losing confidence at the wrong time.

I always try to do the first 10 LR questions in 10 minutes since they are supposed to be the easiest. Even if you don't hit that mark exactly it's a good goal to keep in mind. That way you have plenty of time for the more difficult questions. Definitely helped me when I started doing this.
