Re: The Official June 2014 Study Group
Hey, everybody. Been awhile since I checked in here.
Still waking up every day to study at 6 am before work, as I've done since the first week of January.
Been a long battle but it's nice to be on the homestretch.
Currently averaging a consistent 171 on practice tests.
Did PT55 today under timed conditions, with the following scores:
LR1: -3
RC: -2
LR2: -1
LG: -3
The LG on PT 55 was particularly hard. Spent about 2 hours reviewing the whole test today (I PT on my off days Monday and Friday). Been stuck on at this scoring range for a few weeks, but it's still better than where I was at in mid-April when I was totally burnt out.

When I'm not motivated, I read about the schools that I want to go to and the threads about the people who got in this year. It helps me almost every time.jk148706 wrote:I'm so unmotivated lately idk what to dorebexness wrote:Completely unmotivated to PT today. Ugh ugh ugh.

PT 57 today...
LG (-3) 20
LR (-4)
(22)
LR (-8)
(17)
RC (-8) (19)
Raw 78
Score 162
First PT i've taken in awhile, and this one was in a relatively quiet library, but some more distractions once I got past my first LR section... The one LG about the dinosaurs really tripped me up, and I was very happy with my first LR score! I haven't been doing too well on them but I liked to see this -4... but then I had a bad LR section, but I think it was just because of a few dumb mistakes that can be corrected... the RC was HORRIBLE for me, I could not get involved in any of the readings and I actually felt like I did much worse! Overall I am pleased, considering my last PT i scored a 158.. will continue to review this exam all day tomorrow, and hoping to continue improving!

If you're doing well unmotivated might not be such a bad thing.dasani13 wrote:When I'm not motivated, I read about the schools that I want to go to and the threads about the people who got in this year. I have a different feeling about looking at schools: I try for the most part not to look at any and just convince myself I'm going to go lower than my PTs suggest. I'd prefer to let my LSAT score dictate schools rather than the other way around seeing as expecting a score on the day of adds unnecessary pressure.

Re: The Official June 2014 Study Group
Two notes from Louis1127 today:
1. Way to go Agalfano! I know you'll be at 165 plus within time. You are almost there.
2. Alright time for some controversy
Does anyone else feel like they understand the stimulus better when they read it before the question stem? I know, I know... I feel like I am betraying Mike Kim (and I LOVE Mike Kim), but I am just so much more relaxed when not reading the stem first.
I feel like when I read the stimulus before them stem, I read for structure and understand the underlying structures of what's going on in the argument. I feel like when I read the stem before the stimulus, I get anxious and try to say "Ok, gotta find the support, gotta find the conclusion", and I end up trying to memorize the stimulus instead of reading for structure. I can't explain why this is.
And this isn't a one day thing. I have noticed this over weeks. For what it's worth, my accuracy goes up reading stim before stem as well.
Anyone else feel this way?

Re: The Official June 2014 Study Group
Same here. I can answer main conclusion and necessary assumption questions in like 10 seconds reading stem first. It may take a while to get used to in the beginning but it'll save you a lot of time later on when you have mastered exactly what to do differently for all question types. But of course there are always exceptions, I suppose.Learn_Live_Hope wrote:Not me…i have to read the question stem before reading the stimulus…but then again thats just me..Louis1127 wrote:Two notes from Louis1127 today:

Hit a 168 on PT 60. Super disappointed since my last few PT have been 170 174 170 and 175. Made a crap ton of stupid errors (thinking to hard and second guessing myself). The last RC was some law passage on contingency. I couldn't understand it at all, but upon my review it came off super easy. O well, Im going to chalk this one up to being mentally tired after this being the 4th day of PT in a row.
Going to take the next 2 days off.

I don't know if it will make you feel better, but I would like to share with you that a handful of us recently scored way below our normal scoring range, so you are not alone.Calbears123 wrote:Hit a 168 on PT 60.
