This is the third day in a row that i haven't taken a practice test and I'm starting to get extremely antsy. Midterms or not, I'm feeling underprepared. Gonna have to do double time tomorrow

Doing some old logic games. Its amazing how just doing games over and over will get you in the zone. I used to be completely lost but after doing a bunch and seeing how limited things are Im getting the hang of them. Older games used to completely scare me because it seemed like they had endless possibilities. Now its clear that each game has 2-3-4 inferences that follow from the rules that restrict the game.

Ive been doing back to back timed sections randomly, but I think I have run out of material now. I dont think taking a bunch of tests at this point will really do any good. I'm satisfied with my scores and the last thing I need is some test to nuke my confidence on test day. Thoughts?

Agreed! I'm definitely bringing a few LG games, an RC passage and a couple of LR questions to the exam as a warm-up... previously done, of course. It gets me in the zone!!Sandro777 wrote:Doing some old logic games. Its amazing how just doing games over and over will get you in the zone. In other news, yet another 170 on PT 53. One one hand, I'm really happy because I'm looking for 170+ on test day, but on the other, I wanna bring my score up as high as I can so even if my score goes down a bit, it won't be below 170. At this point, my main issues are RC, RC timing, a teensy bit LR timing, and dumb mistakes, which I make at least 2-3 of in each PT.

I think you are fine just taking one more test and retiring from the full length PTs. You could consider continuing to do a section per day though, or working specifically with question types that you miss frequently just to try and gain a point or two and more importantly not drop off by losing your edge.Tullstone wrote:*bump*Tullstone wrote:Ive taken around 15-20 prep tests from numbers 19-59 and got scores all within a 2 point range on average, since I actually made progress in my scores. Yeah, I might do 59 and 60. That is, if they get here in time. I just seem stuck on RC, ive narrowed every other section down.2014 wrote:I think you are fine just taking one more test and retiring from the full length PTs. minus 4-7 on both LR sections together
0-3 on games
4-6 on RC
I dont score in my bad range for all sections at once
Ive been in between 167-169
170 never happened for me. I'm an undergraduate law clerk at 2 firms though while going to school full time AND studying for this test.. WHEW

I wish I had a bunch of old RC sections to start using as experimentals
If anyone has some unused older RC sections, please PM me maybe? Please?

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
So I managed to eliminate at least one major stressor from my actual school schedule (definitely nearly cried in a prof's office hours today, haha), so that's very helpful!
I'm doing PT 57 tomorrow. I'm terrified after hearing all these horror stories about dinosaur games, sharp increases in difficulty, etc, etc... but whatever. I've been doing the most difficult LR set from Cambridge and actually not doing so terribly. Helping to look at the mistakes I'm making/common traps, too, even if I don't get the questions right. I'm also drilling games from the very early to the later to the middle (basically games from every section around), so I'm feeling like I can at least hope to do pretty well on games. It kind of destroys my confidence even getting 1 wrong on games, though. Urgh.
Anyways, I eagerly await marking PT 57 tomorrow to see if I can beat the horror story.

Did PT57 tonight and the dino game wasn't as bad as advertised, especially if you aren't locked into doing everything by the book with the LGB strategies. Many of the tough games in the 30s are worse.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Anybody want to suggest which PT I should do some problems from on the morning of October 9th to warm up? I will have taken 24 through 60, in that order, at that point. Should I redo something from the early- or mid-50's, or will that be too recent in my head? Would something from the 40's be too dissimilar to the new tests? Am I taking this WAY TOO SERIOUSLY?!?!

I'm going to do recent PTs for warmup. IMO, I don't think it matters if they're still recent in your mind. For me, warmup is just about getting in the "right" mindset. I've read on a couple of LSAT blogs that you don't want to try something completely new or the LG you never conquered, etc.sgtgrumbles wrote:Anybody want to suggest which PT I should do some problems from on the morning of October 9th to warm up? Oh, and for the record, clearly ITT we take everything WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. We've analyzed our breakfast choices... And, I've had to rethink my outfit at least twice.

Pick a section that you are comfortable with, but that is old enough that you won't remember the answers. Probably an LG one.sgtgrumbles wrote:Anybody want to suggest which PT I should do some problems from on the morning of October 9th to warm up? You aren't going to learn anything new that morning and probably won't (and shouldn't) grade whatever you do. So you might as well choose a section that you are comfortable with, but don't know the answers without having to think about them so that you can get your mind rolling.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Yeah why is it that the older test have games that are much harder? I took PT36 yesterday and the games were just ridiculous. Totally unconventional. Have things started to get more mainstream with the LSAT or are we all just so use to ordering, in/out, 2D, etc?TUP wrote:Did PT57 tonight and the dino game wasn't as bad as advertised, especially if you aren't locked into doing everything by the book with the LGB strategies. I took a PT on thursday and saturday but nothing since. I scored above my usual on them so I think I'm afraid to take one again and fall to my average/below it. But I'm taking one tomorrow. Just taking today to review some formal logic I haven't looked at in a while.2014 wrote:This is the third day in a row that i haven't taken a practice test and I'm starting to get extremely antsy.
I wish I had more newer PTs to do but I've taken 60 and 58 as actual administrations and done the rest of the 50s as practice for them, twice. Back to the 40s it is.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
we're in the same boat, i took 59 and 60 as actual administrations and so that essentially means i've done the 50s at least once if not twice already before having studied for this third attempt. I'm trying to spread myself thin by doing some for the THIRD time and saving my actual 59 and 60 as practice tests for this weekend (which isn't that bad since I probably don't remember most of the information, esp 60 since I haven't looked at it since I took it)JJDancer wrote:I took a PT on thursday and saturday but nothing since. Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Im getting hot again. I love it! 163 today. A drop from my high of 165, but a "tighter" scale and a similar raw score. The main thing is that Im flirting with that mid 160's area on a consistent basis. My last 4 PT averages are 162. So im not far off.
My LG performance continues to excel, as does my LR. RC was good today. However, LR 1 killed me. I might consider tinkering around with "warm ups".
In any case, Im happy and Im improving. I need to stay hot over the next 2 weeks and most importantly on Oct. 9th.
Good luck everyone!!!
One last thing, how did people find the games on PT 56? Easy, ok, hard? Thanks!!!

June 2007
LG -2 Was perfect until like always, needed an extra 1 or 2 mins to finish the last 2 or 3 questions....
LR -2
LR -2
RC -3 Freakin pollen. Took way too long on Passage 1 (11 mins) which ran out of time passage 4. Same ole stuff...
91/169 My best raw score ever and tie for my best scaled score. If I can figure out how to get a little faster on RC and LG looks good. Also I looked up this test when I first decided to take the lsat, last July. While some of it was vaguely familiar, i didnt remember any particular answer and I think if anything it served to mess me up by vaguely remembering something about it. It was more I remembered that I had read the question about police/morality before, but nothing to the sort of what I answered/got wrong/right ...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
