The Kaplan app is good too, but it's only for ios. I used a mixture of both plus a 4 and 5 yr old and a puppy.dontdoitkid wrote:7sage and public places as well, to simulate the inevitable proctor that won't stop whispering (I'm never sitting front row again).westy822 wrote:Do you guys have any suggestions for simulating the pressure of taking the actual test? I do great on PT's, but on both of actual LSAT's I've taken I scored about ten points below my average. I've heard that doing questions out loud with other people is a good way to simulate the stress/pressure of the actual test. Any other suggestions?
P.S. The noise you will here and wonder "What the hell makes that sound?" is a highlighter.

Re: December 2014 RE-takers Thread
I think this approach makes a lot of sense. When you think about it, the questions follow a very formulaic presentation. If you spend the time upfront to really unpack 10 questions of each type as opposed to doing 100 and sort of brushing through them, there's a greater payoff. This is the approach I'm taking this time around too.BillPackets wrote:im trying to approach things a little differently to. first, im taking review alot more seriously. before i def skirted BR'ing, and wasnt taking the time to get all the benefits from reviewing. so ive been doing less questions, and more reviewing of those questions.dontdoitkid wrote:I'm doing something along the same lines for my prep, at least in terms of relaxing a little bit (not with my focus but with my attitude). It's hard to relax when you know how important it is so it's almost like trying to trick yourself into thinking it's not that big of a deal. Any tips on how you approach PTs staying cold/unemotional?
secondly, ive been trying to follow the guidelines of "the testing effect", which if you havent, i recommend reading about. testing, reviewing, and thinking about what you're studying throughout the day. it's also kind of a "less is more" thing
thirdly, im taking a different approach to PTs. i read an interview with a former LSAT writer (im sure everyone has read that series) and he argued that drilling and reviewing is more important than actual PTing, and that diminishing returns set in pretty quickly from PTs. so, again, focusing more on drilling, reviewing.
I think im just going to try and get 10-12 Pts in before D-Day.

Same here, Bill. I got a late start in studying, so I kind of panicked and tried to cover a large quantity of material without going very much in depth. I didn't review my answers (right or wrong) last time around, so I'll be doing that this time. I'll be drilling longer sets, as well as listening to a lot of krautrock.BillPackets wrote: im trying to approach things a little differently to. first, im taking review alot more seriously. before i def skirted BR'ing, and wasnt taking the time to get all the benefits from reviewing. so ive been doing less questions, and more reviewing of those questions.

Is it bad that I don't feel like drilling? I know it will probably be helpful, but I really don't want to pay for the Cambridge Packets...

Moving to 3 preptests a week until a few days before the test. I definitely feel as if my problem for my first take was not doing enough timed preptests.

Ops I meant 52.5 (June 2007), not 56. -8 curvecharlesriver wrote:there are a few odd ball in LR. the second question in RC was unexpected as well.dasani13 wrote:the curve for PT 56 is bullshit

Took my first PT since the real thing in September. It also happened to be Prep Test 72 (June 2007).

A bit atypical for me as RC is usually my strongest. I'm thinking I had some fatigue in that last section after not having looked at a question in just over a month.
Looks like I'm right about my need to drill LR.

Can't believe I'm already feeling a little burnt out after less than a week of studying. I had to stop in the middle of a PT bc I couldn't concentrate. I am so sick of this test.

I bought the Cambridge difficult LR questions packet (which I havent used yet). should I invest in the question type packets instead?? I am having trouble improving in LR so I need to drill drill drill.
