Re: 10 weeks to a 180
The middle statement does nothing to the argument. Logically, the second statement is already incorporated in the first student. Am I mistaken?
Concerning the several ra, that´s what it sounded like to me too. I just wasn´t sure how to incorporate it into the diagram.
Thanks for your insight.

Who's ready for December 4th?
aw thanks! to be fair, though, i've been studying since late june, took october, and am a retaker. it's tough to see what my "real" skill level is at testing-wise since I've seen a LOOOOT of these questions during my Testmasters prep. oh well. i feel like the time off in between the Oct test and the scores helped relax my brain, so maybe that helped? i did get a little crazy toward the end of my Oct studying- I felt crunched for time. The day before I must've done 6-7 timed LR sections and just killed myself.
I'm applying to Boalt! ...but in two years. Hope to see ya there! It's my dream school. (well, technically, stanford- but that ain't happening. i'd probably pay full $$$ to go to boalt though!)

Can't take PT today... way to much going on for me to find 2 1/2 hours of straight time. Gonna do some drilling for reading composition instead....

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
Today im doing 3 timed LR sections, 3 timed LG sections, and then figuring out how to print the oct 11 test so i can take it timed tuesday AM simulating test conditions. Its the only test i havent seen the right answers to so hope it'll be an accurate gauge. Plus if I bomb it i have 2+ weeks to get my confidence back up (hence why im not taking it as my last timed PT)...

Made some headway today....Did Feb 94 LG (-1), Jun 94 LG (-2), and Jun 94 LR 2 (-1). Reviewing, taking a break and eating dinner, then coming back to do some more. Anyone have any consensus on if LR has gotten easier/harder than the earlier PTs? The LGs feel much much harder, that's for sure.

Haha, don't worry about it too much. You should be proud of those scores, regardless. However, you should be preparing with recent materials from here on

do you think i should do 38 and down for my timed drilling sections instead of working my way up then? you may have a point there. everything above 38 i've been using as full timed PTs.

I HATE old LR. I almost don't even find it useful. I feel like you can gain more from cementing the most recent questions into your mind than from doing mostly outdated material.calidancer2 wrote:180asBreath wrote:Haha, don't worry about it too much. That criticism is directly mainly just toward doing them as timed sections. If you slip up on a few weird questions and/or spend too much time on them and your score suffers, that score is not at all representative of your ability. 'na mean?

RC is a little easier but mostly pretty similar. There are a lot more inference question on the new ones, but for the most part, I think, the patterns are about the same.
The LGs are weird too, and yes a little easier! I get tripped up sometimes on those complex hybrids.

You lost me...so work on the most recent PTs for timed sections? On my study calendar I have Jun 05, Oct 05, Dec 05 left, and then a few 08/09 PTs that I scored under 170 on and want to redo as my FULL-length PTs. Doing one tomorrow and one Tuesday, I think!
I agree the RC seems pretty standard always. Some of those earlier LGs...just...weird. like the letter/word/sentence game? wtf? and the switching around of order of project assignments or something was a weird one too. Definitely not the standard "cookie-cutter" LGs we've been seeing recently (at least IMO).
PS- just wanna give a big shoutout to TLS/this thread. you dudes keep me sane...i don't think anyone else outside of TLS "gets it." even my parents are like, "hey thats great, but maybe you should take a break. or something."

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
Sorry I have been writing my PS literally all day.
Mainly, I would not do the old LR as timed sections, only as individual question practice. Some of the questions are weird to me and throw me off.
I agree on the TLS shoutout cali. It´s nice to relate to people on this wild journey.
I think I'll do another PT tomorrow too. On Saturday I'll take another new PT.

171 on 57.
LR1: -4
LR2: -1
LG: -1
RC: -4
LRX: -6 (missed last 5)
I'm drained but hoping to keep going through Dave's LR book and refine my LR approach.

174 on PT42, -7.
I missed 4 on RC. I hate RC. Why are the answer choices so tricky?
Congrats, 180!!

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
Redid the Dinosaur game today and that was a joke for me.
Also Did December 2008 RC and got -3 MY HIGHEST EVER (got to all four passages and guessed on none of the questions)
did September 2009, got to all four passages and got -5. (Guessed on two questions because of a lack of time).
Overall this is great, normally i'm doing -7 to -9. This easily has brought me in the low 170s....
Gonna take Superprep test C tomorrow =)

JUst completed Preptest C
Games: -2
LR1: -2
LR2: -3 (missed 3 of the toughest)
RC: -7
(Couldn't get to 1 passage and got three wrong on the last passage)
For a 170 =)!
Highest score ever. Gotta drill more on Logical reasoning and Reading Comp though.

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
Congrats, chester!!!
Yeah, for real! I just took PT 46, missed 7 and got a 172. what?!
I´m still really psyched about it though. I must not have done any review when I took it the first time, because the passages felt almost new and only a few LR questions were familiar. My breakdown was -2 on RC, -3 and -2 on LR.
I was killing it on the last LR when I noticed I had 12 minutes to do 5 questions. I missed two of them
Just when you think you got this thing.....
PT break tomorrow, gonna look over some past answers I got wrong, find any trends in questions missed and what not
Thursday, another old PT
Friday, OFFFFFFF
Saturday, new PT!
LETTSSSSS GOOOOO
