Haha, I think it is the social system that sap our passion. We are all born with the ability to be passionate about something unique, but our real self is drowning in this society. I will not proceed, for the paragraph would be too long to come to the end.Deardevil wrote:Liming wrote: Very inspirational post. Kudos for signing up just to help out this young chap as well!
I have to say that parts of what you mention also resonates with me, like the bit about your major.
Coincidentally, I'm Chinese myself, but I doubt that our lack of passion stems from biological roots (at least, I hope not).
Anyway, a speaker at my graduation commencement had something like this to say:
"You're not born knowing what to do. That's up to you. It took me 20 years to find what I really wanted in life.
The journey to your desired career may not be so clear-cut, but it's there waiting for you, however long it may take."
So while you may still be unsure of what it is that you're searching for, that's okay.
You're still young. You have a long road filled with obstacles, but life is about conquering those demons.
Life can also be a bitch, but make it your bitch, right? Also, have you considered law school?
Thank you for your encouraging reply. I just knew LAST the other day.and I have been thinking of law school ever since. Not sure about it because of my poor English. I started learning real English two years ago in college... I don't think law career is my passion, but a top law school and a nice job may help me to stay in the US, which is crucial to my real passion. I have to stay in the US for at least a couple of years to do what I really love. Anything can help me to stay there will be considered, except for CS....
