LJL at the bolded. Bell & Ross slaps stock ETA movements into unoriginal case/dial designs and prices at 6x what comparable ETA-powered watches cost. OP is smart to stick with his Seiko and Hamilton (the Hamilton probably has the same quality ETA movement as a Bell & Ross at less than half the price).guano wrote:They're good watches, but you're paying extra for the snob factor. There are equally well-known brands making watches just as good that cost a chunk less, like breitling, and there are highly regarded (in watch circles) but less known brands that would cost even less, like bell & ross.RZ5646 wrote:Are Rollies passé now? If you're going to spend that kind of money, there are brands that are better value (not really value for money, because, WTF?) like an entry-level ulysse nardin or jaeger lecoultre.
If you've really made it, of course there's always patek philippe

I think the whole luxury watch quality debate is absurd anyway, since a $10 quartz watch from Walmart will keep better time than a $10,000 Rolex.

I used my seiko skx007, which is a dive watch with a bezel. I wear it most days and was comfortable with adjusting the bezel to mark my time for the sections.
Orient makes some mechanical watch that are bit less expensive, but appear to be of reasonable quality (they are owned by Seiko if I recall correctly). Casio and others make less expensive bezel watches that are quartz movements that would do fine for the test, or for most purposes really. But I enjoy having a something in my day to day life that is not dependent on a battery.
