You need to make sure you do a realistic assessment of what you got. For example, I know I bombed LG. But, if I actually work out what I guessed on, and my realistic chances of being wrong, I think I got -6. When I average that together with my estimates of how I did on other sections, I still think I got 1-2 points higher than my previous test I was retaking. It's also possible that this test could curve much higher than I thought, or I got lucky on my guesses, and I end up with several points higher.

Just try to make a realistic assessment of what you actually did before you cancel. There have been people who have nearly cancelled 180s because of nerves.

??? There's no limit on how many times you can take the LSAT. The only limit is 3 times/2 years, nothing overall.

This really isn't the case. Admissions is only required to report the highest score and many people on TLS who have had two significantly scores have said that their cycles went exactly as they expected had they only had the highest score.

I'd keep the score unless you anticipate your score to be sub-150, just to avoid a possible LSAC investigation.

I think you guys are overestimating the high score thing a bit this cycle man. A cancel and high score is universally better than a low score and a high score. The advice of just avoiding it to avoid investigation isn't entirely true. I've applied as a retake with a low and a high, and it does wear on you...

How can you say that a "high score is universally better than a low score and a high score" with no evidence? Mike Spivey and Karen Buttenbaum, in their thread, both say that the low score makes absolutely zero difference in your prospects. This includes schools like HYS.

I wouldn't cancel. I sat for the first time back in February and felt like I had bombed when I left. I felt like my brain was locking up, couldn't think straight, and was constantly running into time issues (something I had never done on any Practice Tests). But when I got back my score it matched my highest Practice Test score and I was extremely relieved that I hadn't cancelled.

I got 164-166 on all PTs. Took 3 PTs in the last 5 days and got 165 on all of them... I have never in my LIFE choked like that. I almost started crying in the middle of section 4.... I have literally never experienced such a thing in my life.... I freaked out in EVERY WAY.... I am in shock... I'm pretty sure I did really bad... I should just cancel right? What's worse a cancel or getting lower than a 155? I was sobbing on the way home I've NEVER been so disappointed in myself...

I just read all of your posts on this thread and wanted to say that the EXACT same thing happened to me on Saturday. Literally. I was scoring between 163 and 165 consistently with a few 166s. I went into the test feeling super confident and then got LG in section 4, hit a few questions I couldn't answer and panicked. I started tearing up, which clearly made things worse, and then that carried over into section 5 & the writing sample. I ended up guessing on 85ish% of the LG section and am sending in my fax tomorrow morning to cancel.

I'm studying for the December test, as I assume you will be as well. Since we're both in very similar boats shoot me a PM if you want to exchange so prep tips!

I didn't say it'll have a huge effect, I said it's better. Would you rather apply to a t3 with a low and a high, or just a high? Just think about it for a second. Lol I've spoken to both Mike and Karen about it personally. It's true that it's not a big deal, but I can assure you, as an applicant, you'd rather be applying with one high score.

If you were all-powerful you would control it so your only score was a 180 and you did not have two or more.

But the mistake most applicants make is falling for the notion that all scores are weighed, measured or matter because 99% of the time it is entirely the high score.
