I think TLS made me far more neurotic about the LSAT than I would have otherwise been. Which is a good thing.

Re: How seriously do your peers take the LSAT?
In my limited experience I have been more serious about the LSAT than my fellow starry-eyed prospective 0Ls. Of course, my UG had no law school presence, in that, not only do they not have a LS they don't even have a pre-law program, or law school visitation forums, or anyone who really knows much about it. In fact, the "Pre-Law Advisor" was actually an assistant advisor for the History Department, and I can say that my experiences with them were comparable to the other horror stories here on TLS, if not worse. So, since there was a heavy academic (Ph.D) focus for the upper end students in my department, LSAT takers weren't that common. I was close with 5 of them. Of the 5, I scored the highest (which was still just 94th percentile), and that was by a long shot. What got me is that these were good students, who had 3.8+ GPAs (Higher than my own), but they just didn't seem to put much into the LSAT. I think one of them took an evening Kaplan course for some ludicrous amount of money, and I still didn't break 160. It was kind of odd really. I think 2 of them changed and are now in Masters programs, 2 went to Tier 2/3 law schools at almost full cost, 1 went to a (lower) T1 at full cost. So that leaves me as the only retaker.
I think TLS made me far more neurotic about the LSAT than I would have otherwise been. Which is a good thing.

Most people I know IRL say this:
"The LSAT is a stupid test that has nothing to do with law school, the bar, or the law!"
and
"There are many successful attorneys who didn't get good LSAT scores, so LSAT doesn't mean anything"
and
"I wrote a very strong PS and have so many extra-curriculars"

I don't have peers worrying about the LSAT. I have peers worried about making rank and studying for advancement up the chain-of-command.

Most took a one-a-week course in undergrad, consider themselves prepared, and are "waiting forever" for the October LSAT.

As I've posted in another thread, I don't know anyone in real life that has scored at least a 160.
Enough said.

I knew a couple of people who talk a big game, but refuse to actually put in the work necessary.

The only people I know taking the LSAT are the TLS folks in the October 2013 thread, and they take seriousness to a different level. I log in everyday and, as sure as the rising sun, seem to be outdone.

Re: How seriously do your peers take the LSAT?
Just correlational.
The people I know who got 160 or higher on diagnostic or real test take it quite seriously and put the effort in.
The people who can't make it past 160 and those whom I believe won't be able to make it (due to quitting or wrong mindset), seem to talk as if they take the LSAT seriously but oftentimes I hear them say things about how their PS will get them in to a law school, with a sub 160 mark.
