I think the question is reasonable given the standard advice is to walk in averaging ~3 points higher than your target, not ~3 points lower.

Then don't take it at all. It is not uncommon to drop more than 3 points on the real thing. Your most recent testing is going to be the most reliable indicator of how you're doing.

This late in the game there is really no room to improve THAT much.
