When some pretentious ass says to me "I go to school in Boston; well, not really in Boston, but near Boston," I always say, "Oh! Do you like Tufts?"

What would you rather he say? That he goes to Harvard? Would you judge him as any less of a pretentious ass?

Yes. If you go to Harvard, and someone asks you where you go to school, answering "Harvard" is not pretentious at all.

Yup. I took a free practice test at the local Kaplan test center after buying one of their books online, so they had my LSAC number and contact info. They called twice to ask if I wanted to apply to teach an LSAT course after I got a 165 (after freaking out and getting a 158 the first time). Um, really? I'm glad I didn't pay for your course then, because I'm so not qualified to teach that. Did you notice the part where I consistently got half the logic games questions wrong because I'm too slow? Yeah, I guess not.

Most girls (that I interact with, at least), are impressed by any law school. You could say you go to Cooley or T4 and they'd still be impressed.

I'm a girl, and I'm not psycho. I just got all hardcore and didn't realize other people are more cavalier about the whole "future" and "career" thing. I think TLSers have the right idea, I'm just saying that sometimes we forget that we're notttt within the realm of normalcy

Actually, I think the elitist bent is a key reason why TLS is such a strong resource for aspiring/current law students. Many of the people who participate are wicked smart and earnest about offering good feedback and the wisdom they've gleaned over the years (or weeks). There is a lot of high-quality constructive advice to be found here, precisely because there are so many actual and wannabe high-achievers posting.

But there's a lot of crap & self-esteem crushing commentary around here too, and anonymity does make people mean.
