Updated: 94/176. LR is getting much better, best yet. LG was at -0, and RC dragged me down with a -3. Getting closer and closer to my goal...

I have the powerscore rc bible, not very impressed. I think it was mostly due to lack of focus and concentration, not technique. At this point (between -1 and -3) I don't think a book will help. I just need to force myself to focus harder.

Re: June 2011 Study Log (a.k.a. the destroyer of social lives)
See I'm around -3 -4 for RC, which is soooooooooooooooo annoying because it basically precludes me from getting 175+ unless a) forgiving curve or b) I ace the other sections.coldshoulder wrote:I have the powerscore rc bible, not very impressed. I scored that 176 with a -3 on RC, but it's true you do have to almost ace the other sections (-4LR total and-0 LG).
I would say do lots of review, try to figure out the question type patterns.

Re: June 2011 Study Log (a.k.a. the destroyer of social lives)
See, I just got a -3 RC and -3 LR total/-0 LG and only scored a 171 :\ I guess it's pretty curve dependent, either way though I'd feel a lot more comfortable going into the test with an average of only -1 or -2 in each section.coldshoulder wrote:I scored that 176 with a -3 on RC, but it's true you do have to almost ace the other sections (-4LR total and-0 LG).

Jesus, that's a ridiculous curve. Was a 170 really a -8? Most of the test in the 30's are -12 to -14 for a 170...

Yeah I think so lol. But inck said the curve gets better in the later 50s. IDK if that's a sign of tests getting harder or what T_Tcoldshoulder wrote:Jesus, that's a ridiculous curve. Was a 170 really a -8? Most of the test in the 30's are -12 to -14 for a 170...

I'm not sure, I've heard that RC in the 30's is hard, then LR is hard in the 40's, then everything settles down in the 50's and the newer tests, with RC being more difficult and LG being easier on average.

Re: June 2011 Study Log (a.k.a. the destroyer of social lives)
this is a little late but congrats on the jump into the mid 90s/170s!
I had a similar diagnostic as you and was also scoring in the high 80s/160s on the first 5 or so PTs I did. I saw that you had made a jump around that time to the mid 90s and 170s after a week off, so I took a few days off and came back today and hit a 94/174 on PT 44, my best yet.
just wanted to say thanks for the motivation! hope we both kick some ass this june

Glad to see my studying has motivated you! Once you break that barrier there's no going back, gotta stay above 90/170.

just like to say that i bought and used the manhattan rc guide after experimenting with the forums, ps, and other approaches.. the guide is phenomenal.. it not only changed my approach with rc but helped me out in lr as well... its worth the $$crumpetsandtea wrote:NICE!!! Re: June 2011 Study Log (a.k.a. the destroyer of social lives)
Updated: PT 43-176 Best LR score yet, thought they were a bit easier than past tests (this is my first test in the 40's). RC was really, really rough. Extremely long sections, long answer choices, 28 questions. It's normally my favorite and one of my best sections.
LG didn't seem easier than prior tests, but not harder either. Screwed up on the food trucks to office buildings game.

Updated: Pt 44, 174. This really shows how much a curve can affect your score. I was -6 on the last three test, with a 177, 176, and 174 resulting. LR is still doing quite well, and RC is still more difficult in the 40's. Missed all three on one science section.

Re: June 2011 Study Log (a.k.a. the destroyer of social lives)
Updated: PT 45, 170.
I have never done this poorly in LR. Apparently being gone three days took me from a -2 or -3 total LR loss to a -10. Seriously, WTF.
LG was again super easy, but RC science section killed me again.
Any tips on staying consistent in LR? I felt legitimately bad during the first LR, but thought I did great in the second LR, and got -5 in each. This is devastating, as I was in the upper 170's for about 5 tests in a row before this.

PT 50 and 51 updated, both 176 scores, very happy. PT 51 first super strict test with timing and sections in order, will only be doing exact tests at the time of the test from here on out.

What were the conditions like for your tests that haven't been super strict? It couldn't have been too far off of realistic as you maintained a nice high score.coldshoulder wrote:PT 50 and 51 updated, both 176 scores, very happy. I hadn't added an experimental before, I used a digital timer on my phone instead of an analog watch, and I didn't always sit down and do the entire test at the same time.
And thank you

Just wanted to say CONGRATS on your recent awesome scores! I'm totally jelly of your progress, I seem to have been pretty much stuck in the same range for the past...umm...4-5 months?
Either way, hope you 180 it this June (:
