A 151 is at 48.1%, while a 152 is at 52.2% for the October 2010 test.

i wonder if they are just crazy and freaked out about the test, aka bad test takers? give them a beer before the test maybe and tell them to read closelyframboozer wrote:All you have to do is search the Internet. When I was looking for resources about law school and just looking up ways to get my LSAT score up, I stumbled upon the antithesis of the TLS Forums. If you think that everyone on here is completely unrealistic in their expectations of what everyone can achieve on the LSAT if they put in the effort, well there's definitely another side to it. There are so many people out there who are struggling to get into the 140's or 150's. They even stop to wonder if they should re-take a score of 141. They want to get into any law school that will accept them, and not enough people are telling them that their expectations are beyond unrealistic and that they should choose a different path. I guess so many people these days still think that a law degree equals a steady and prosperous future.
It makes sense. If 151 is the median, then half of test-takers are absolutely bombing. Luckily, I think most of them realize that law school is not for them. So yea, I've seen 131, 133, 138, etc.

I am not a great LSAT taker (scored 158) and I decided to take an timed LSAT while fairly drunk and I got a 142. So I really have no idea how ANYONE could score less than 140.

haha maybe not then...still there are plenty of schools they can go to even with a high 130 something, not good schools and some not aba but they are there, peoples law i think and some in very rural areas or for minorities and those who speak English as a second language...that is my guess on people who score in the 130s, and even Elle Woods from Legally Blond scored a 143 on her pt before 179 on the real deal lol! If she can do it anyone can!Total Litigator wrote:I am not a great LSAT taker (scored 158) and I decided to take an timed LSAT while fairly drunk and I got a 142. I heard rumors that a cousin of mine got a 168. I'm not sure I believe it, but he is kind of the black sheep in the family.

The lawyers I work for in Southern Maryland always make fun of me. When they found out I was going into my fourth LSAT they slipped me something called a "bar". When I got back from the test around 3 everyone in the firm (its small staff of less than 20) were standing there applauding and laughing. I got a 138 on that one...

Okay, so I am obviously in the minority here and I have scored 133 (October LSAT). Was I unprepared, not by a long shot, however I have been known to freeze up on standardized test, not that I do not know the material, however it is just something that spans from my childhood.
On another note, I have a strong application that I have already submitted to 2 tier 4 schools in the DC Metropolitan area. Both schools LSAT median for the part time program is 144-149 respectively, which means that I have a chance. Not to mention that I am an Engineer with a Masters degree...
Am I worried not at all, this is not the end of the world if I don't get the 150 that I am aiming for from the December test, just re-test one more and then if it does not produce the score I want without even a waitlist...not the end of the world...I will just sit back and enjoy my high six figure salary for the next couple of years until I feel like trying again...

Re: Lowest LSAT score you have ever seen/ heard about
I've had dozens of students who scored in the mid to low 130's on their first diagnostic. I've probably had about 5-10 score in the 120's, 127 being the lowest that I remember seeing.
Some people don't guess on every question, they'll only fill in maybe 40-50 bubbles on the test. You can't expect people scoring below 140 to exhibit optimal test-taking strategies.

Why would anyone want to ruin a perfectly good buzz by doing the LSAT? That is just wrong.

Re: Lowest LSAT score you have ever seen/ heard about
The lowest score I've seen on a practice test is a 120. Yes, I had a student enter with a diag of 120. At first, we thought that we were just scoring it wrong, that she had taken a different test or something. Nope, she actually got a 120. Apparently there were multiple things that went wrong there (undiagnosed learning disability, didn't know that there were no points off for wrong answers so only put down answers for about a third of the questions, etc.), but yes, I did see a natural 120 at one point.
The lowest score I've heard back from a student on the real thing was a 138. This guy was a bizarre case. He came in with a diag of 138. He asked in the first class never to be called on, because it made him nervous. (Bear in mind that this was in a class of maybe 20 people, so it was pretty conspicuous that he never got called on and never participated at all.) On his second test, he got a 138. On his third test, he got a 138. On his fourth test, you guessed it, he got a 138. He got a 138 on his fifth and sixth tests, too. And on test day, sure enough, he got a 138.
I've since gotten the "no cold calls" request a few more times, and I tell this story now. No one has ever said, "Even so, I don't want to be called on" after that.
EDIT: Also, check out the "Overheard at the LSAT" topic for people who would get catastrophically low scores.

Also, technically speaking, prior to 1991 you could have a scaled score as low as ten (10).

I would think that a 120 is as rare as a 180.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
