Re: Pt 50-60 September Crew. Enter Here
I guess I'm in. I just switched my test date from December to October, and I still haven't done 50-60 yet. I think I'm going to do 49-60 in the coming weeks.
I've been doing very well but I haven't done any of the more recent tests until just now. I've been doing LG sections from the late 40s and doing well, ranging from -0 to -3. But I won't really be able to guess at how I'll do in October until I do 50-60.
Good luck, everyone.

10/2 - PT 59 (+ Section 2 of PT 49)
With all Saturday PT's occuring at 8am-ish at a site public place near my test site.

I do mine blindly. I look at the first two sections of the preptest I'm on, then choose the same type of section from a different test and then after I've taken the test I flip a coin and if it's heads the first section I count as the experimental if it's tails the second section I count as the experimental. That way I can't relax on any section because I don't know which one will be scored and which one won't... This works well for me but who knows...WonkyPanda wrote:ugh, the thought just makes my brain ache. Do you guys try to fool yourselves with the experimental or do you consciously know which one is the experimental? On one hand, I feel that it's sort of dumb to fool yourself because you need to gauge your true performance on any section. On the other hand, i feel that I sort of take it "easier" on the section i know that is an experimental.xqhp82 wrote:On my schedule i plan to do Superprep C and PT43-60 starting from 9/4. going to use 4 PTs (40, 46, 50, 57) for the experimental sections. that makes 3PTs per week until test day. yep got 42-60 to do this month. prob do 57-60 in October tho
im a retaker too, i took 2 weeks off before the June test and got really rusty on the logic games.
I haven't started 5 section tests, but I plan to to split up a test, use each one of the 4 sections as an experimental, and after I've finished 4 tests, I'll combine them all and score it. That way they still count.

PT 50 SPOILERS SHALL FOLLOW.
I just finished PT 50. 94 raw, 175 scaled. -1RC, -2LR, -1LG, -2LR. I feel okay about that.
This was the PT with the Riddled Basins of Attraction passage that apparently flumoxed a lot of people/is notorious for its difficulty. Sadly, my -1RC wasn't even on this passage, it was question 5 which for some reason simply went over my head.
I think Riddled Basins is supposedly complex because most people read it and don't understand what the eff a riddled basin is, and then in the answers they try to get you to answer a lot about riddled basins, but they don't ask many questions actually on riddled basins, except for the definition, and they give you a definition in the text that you just have to match up. Anyone else do PT 50 today/have an opinion on Riddled Basins?
If that's the worst RC they can throw at me, I really am pleased with RC, haha.
LR I got #24 and #25 wrong. Felt fairly good about most of these questions.
LG - I really liked these games! Found it quite easy to make deducations/inferences. Got number 8 wrong - grouping game.
LR again - wow my mind was wandering and I was like "I don't even want to finish this" but I persevered. I think I made 2 stupid mistakes just due to my mind wandering. #11 and #19.
Overall, quite pleased with this performance, especially since everyone says LR/RC is much more difficult as you go onwards - -1 and -4 overall LR are fine with me.

those are the PTs I have left , plus 1 or two from the teens/20's/30's. Should I do them in sequential order? Or does it really matter? I kind of think I would like to give myself some time after I take a newer PT to let it absorb and learn from it rather than taking it RIGHT before I take OCt 9

Yeah, as long as I don't go over the time limit or don't finish in time, it's good... but I looked at the time and had 10 minutes to do the last passage and got all freaked out. Looking at the time unnerves me - today was the first time I really used my watch to check the time.Knockglock wrote:3 minutes is still pretty solid! especially if that's on the slow side for you.eit wrote:Pastels - usually I have 5-10 minutes left in RC, I think I had like 3 minutes left this time!

Definitely practice your PT's timed then! Are you practicing with an analog watch?eit wrote:Yeah, as long as I don't go over the time limit or don't finish in time, it's good... but I looked at the time and had 10 minutes to do the last passage and got all freaked out. Oh no, I always practice my tests/sections timed - I just usually put on that LSAT Cacophony thing (where it has a fake proctor saying start your section, then lots of skritchy pencils and coughing noises) and I usually finish LR/RC before the 5 minute warning that gets announced, so I don't usually have to look at my watch.
And yeah, I'm using an analog watch. I usually just set it and don't ever look at it but today I was in the library/couldn't have my LSAT Cacophony so it was my main source of timing. Good experience because I'm slower when I think about the time haha.
ALSO did anyone else (who did PT 50) think that game about the child eating alphabet soup and making up the game about the spoonfuls was insanely ridiculous? Not in difficulty or anything, I just felt like LSAT was insinuating this game was so easy a child could do it lmfao.

I can't really remember the game, but I think in the 50's they started doing some kind of weird games again, to try and stay ahead of the prep companies. Definitely by the high 50's/60 they were, with Dinos, interns, mulch & stone.eit wrote:Knockglock wrote:Definitely practice your PT's timed then! I haven't done most of the 50's yet and I'm kinda scared to run into these dinosaurs, interns, and mulch & stone games that I keep hearing about. I hate struggling with games.

I'd be more afraid of RC! Fractals, Riddled Basins of Attraction, Talk-Story, Cake-Walk, Willa Cather, etc. Some of the absolutely most brutal RC passages are in the 50's.Adjudicator wrote:I haven't done most of the 50's yet and I'm kinda scared to run into these dinosaurs, interns, and mulch & stone games that I keep hearing about.
