I think the answer is clear. There is a huge difference between somebody who scores, say, a 178 and somebody who scores anything lower. It's only above 178 (179 and 180) that the fine grain distinctions are entirely meaningless.

p.s. The LSAT, like most standardized tests, is essentially useless for determining any qualities of value. The substantive differences between a student who gets a 180 and one who gets a 165 are far less important in terms of accomplishing anything in life than "subjective" differences in their work ethic, social skills, writing ability, etc... If I had my druthers I'd do away with it entirely.

I scored 170-175. I think that a lot of the people I know who scored 175-180 are a lot smarter than me. But then again, I think a lot of the people who scored 170-175 are a lot smarter than me.

Obviously words like "smart" and "intelligent" are extremely vague. One of the qualities that I'm highlighting when I say that these people are smarter than me is creativity--the LSAT may test your ability to interpret existing arguments, but not your ability to formulate novel ones.
