I drilled a bit this morning. LG is slowly but surely getting easier, and I'm consistently going -0/-1/-1/-3 on LG packets. Hoping to just knock of that one blown game per section and I'll be golden.

How are you making your packets?

Randomly. I get that it's not as effective as doing them based on actual past LSATs, but I'm just trying to learn the basics right now, and time hasn't been a problem on my PT's.

If I'm happy with a 172 or above, is it a safe bet to register for the February LSAT PTing at 170 now?
Only if your PT average (across ~10 tests) is at least 4 points above your target.

If you're still working on the basics, don't you think you should be drilling by type?

I mean, maybe? I just printed out all the LSAT games, shuffled them, and am drilling/reviewing with 7sage. It's been helping. I was originally going like -10 on LG.

Yeah, I think you'd be much better off drilling by type. Do full sections intermittently to gauge your progress and work on timing. Making your own mixed "packets" is kind of pointless IMO. You develop your skills by mastering individual game types.

But that's the thing. I can get the game basics. My problem is just sloppy mistakes, like misgraphing, not understanding rules, etc.

Getting the basics is not the same as mastering the game type. You definitely need more practice. If you're misunderstanding rules, that's not carelessness. You have to make sure your fundamentals are as strong as they can possibly be.

Nope, taking it on the West Coast. If I have to retake in June - oh dear God I hope not - I'll prob be taking it in NYC (I think my job's sending me there for a week or two in the summer for a project)
So you're coming to CA for feb?

Yep :) I have to work on a project over there at the end of Jan, so I figured I might as well take the LSAT there so my internal sleep clock won't be all messed up. Where you at, nlee? The LA area?
Yup. A little east in Orange county.

Not flame: every time I go to the Starbucks inside the b&n, I get a tall coffee and its price is $1.80.
