Picked Picard for my tar fairly outta the blue, beginning to realize it may have been providential.

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
I appreciate your response and I pretty much agree. I honestly just enjoy the taste of good beers, scotches, and bourbons. Getting drunk does happen, but mostly I drink because I enjoy the taste. I grew up with an alcoholic and I'd never put my son through that mess.SirArthurDayne wrote:There's nothing terrible about that, but the prevalence of alcohol and alcohol addiction in this country is an issue that isn't viewed on the same level as other lethal drugs, but it should be. The fact of the matter is that alcohol kills more teenagers than all other drugs combined. I don't understand the desire people have to get drunk; to intoxicate your mind and escape reality. Sure having a few drinks isn't as bad as what I'm getting at, but the prevalence of alcohol created an environment that is conducive to that sort of behavior. The Abyss wrote:Question what exactly is poisonous about enjoying a beer or two responsibly? the thing is with alcohol is that it is almost not okay to NOT consume it. when someone does not often they are harassed for it.. it makes no sense

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
Yeah, I don't get this. My wife does not drink at all, and she gets pressure to drink if she goes out with friends or coworkers. I always tell her just to order a tonic water and say it's a vodka/gin tonic if she doesn't want to be harassed with "why aren't you drinking?".flash21 wrote:the thing is with alcohol is that it is almost not okay to NOT consume it. when someone does not often they are harassed for it.. it makes no sense

I agree but even the fact you must fake drink is pretty ridiculous.gamerish wrote:In your personal life, tell people who pressure you into drinking to fuck off. In a professional setting, just order one drink and keep it with you the whole night.

I really don't drink a ton either. I mean, I've definitely partied in the past and still drink socially, but not as much.flash21 wrote:am i the only one in this thread that doesn't really drink?

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
I have a beer or two probably 2 or 3 nights a week. I'll have a scotch or bourbon maybe once a month, occasionally with a good cigar.
This double ipa that I'm drinking now is fantastic. I'd put it up there with Pliny the Elder (the mother of all double IPAs, the original).

I haven't drank a drop since new years . does alcohol not cause anyone else anxiety?

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
The only anxiety post drinking I've ever experienced was after a blackout drunk. The anxiety of not knowing what in the hell happened was bad for me, but I never get that far nowadays and it was never a full blown panic attack.flash21 wrote:I haven't drank a drop since new years . does alcohol not cause anyone else anxiety?
