Took a practice test today and my score dropped down quite a bit.

So I decided to purchase 7Sage's course because if the lessons are half as helpful as the LG explanations have been, I think it will be worth every penny. I also want to see how I do learning by watching videos rather than reading everything. The starter course is only $179 bucks and if that can net me a few points, I would be happy. By the same token, if I don't like it I think they have a good refund policy.

I am still going to be going through The LSAT Trainer/MLSAT/Cambridge packets along with this course. So I'm not really changing what I'm doing, but adding to it. It will also be nice because I will be able to watch lessons at work when I'm not busy!

Going to start doing the lessons tonight! :D

I was below their LSAT median and slightly above their GPA median and got waitlisted with two LSAT scores. if they averaged I should have gotten rejected!
Interesting, good to know. What school is your top choice? out of curiosity.
H, now that I know I can get the score. :D yours is NYU right? I can see that since you're probably really close.
Harvard, oooooh ;) Hope you get it man! Yeah I like NYU a lot, the school attracts me more than any of the others. Obviously if I got a significant amount of money elsewhere then I'd have to consider that, of course.
Gotta get that 100 Montadillos. I really love the NYU area. It's about the only part of the city I really care for. I'd be really happy with NYU or Columbia, but schools in the south and elsewhere are kind of calling. I've lived in NYC, and I will likely live there after law school...so part of me is feeling a UVA or Penn or something.

My worse fear is to end back up at my UG [i.e. it's the best law school I get into]... like... I'd still be in a T14 program, but I feel like I would be sort of missing the old days and fear of just like ... living there after.

LMK how it is. I feel like the LSAT is slowly becoming my life. I haven't been studying super intensely today, but I've had my book open or doing LSAT related things since 9AM.

did you show her the LST report? I convinced a friend to retake after she got a half-tuition scholly from BU. I consider it one of my greatest achievements :P
I haven't but I probably should. She thinks that she will be able to handle the sticker debt from there, but to do that she will have to be at the VERY top of her class.. I'm going to say around 5% give or take. Idk, I feel like if she can't put in the work to get an LSAT score to at least get a full ride to that school (which I would say is still something debatable because of their employment stats), she probably won't put in the work to be at the top of her class. IIIIII don't know what to do, lol I'm just hoping she doesn't get in and that she decides to retake (AND ACTUALLY STUDY THIS TIME)

I love NYU's area as well. I had to go to Washington Square Park for some mediocre sociology assignment, and while I was there, I went to visit NYU. I liked it a lot (excluding the construction of the front entrance of their main building).

TBH every experience I've ever had with this has ended with the person keeping their score. Ya gotta let them do their thing, for better or worse.

yeah I know someone who went to Duke for undergrad and going to Case Western for law school. literally if you can get into Duke you should probably retake the LSAT because you're obviously capable of doing better.

Yeah, I know someone who had a 3.9 in UG and is about to be a 3L at Brooklyn Law. I mean, personally I don't think there is anything wrong with taking a full ride at a T1 or T2 school depending on goals. Like if someone wants to go work at a small firm and they know for a fact that they can get into that firm through connections or something, a full ride at a tier 2 school is defensible. But obviously if someone goes to a T2 and says they want biglaw, they should adjust their goals or numbers.. lol

holy crap I was so confident that this was a 173+ PT.

Score 168

RC -3
LR -2
LG -2
LR -5

I don't even know what happened on that second LR. literally have not gone over -2 on LR yet and I didn't even find it that difficult of a section. gonna spend some time reviewing those missed LR questions . both of those LG misses were dumb.

on a more positive note, that was apparently a killer RC section according to 7Sage (5/5 difficulty), so I'm definitely happy about that. gonna spend the majority of my time tomorrow drilling LR.

also wtf at a -10 curve, I was expecting -12 or something.

I know the feeling Mikey. Had several friends a couple years older than myself, with great GPAs, end up going to my university's TTT law school. They all basically studied for a couple weeks, scored in the 140s-150s and wouldn't listen to me. I just think all you can do is let them know the information and let them do their thing. I knew a girl with a 4.0 that ended up a Pace Law School @ sticker!!! She was so smart, but she was of the mindset that "law school is law school." The get suckered in and will see any sort of informative advice as being a hater of some sort.

Breaks my heart when I think about that is how I used to be. That lasted about a month until I found this forum

The only thing classier than boxed wine is canned wine. Love me some canned wine. OH shit - that remind me. You know what said brand of canned wine is called?

Underwood. It's actually not terrible.

Favorite red wine though that is cheap [~$10 / bottle]: Col di Sasso, Castello Banfi, IT [Tuscany, I think?]

It's like...actually good. They also sell it in 5-6L bottles which is hilarious to say the least.

Tfw you manage to go -0 on a set of 5 lg and grab the keys *and* walk down the hall to your new LSAT book from the mail guy in the middle of the set in 30 min flat. Aww yeeah 8) 8) 8)

My first -0 on a 5 set in a while. Keep screwing something up and going -1/-2, which is not ok for a game I've done before.

Also how the hell do you practice lr? Mlsat's useful but I remember the qs all far too well. Going to go do by type training for the next 45 min. VIGILENCE.

Yeah - they make them up to 15L a la Nabuchadnezzar. Usually, 6.0L is about the biggest you can buy retail and not many wines do it...especially at the Col Di Sasso price point [they still may not]. 15L is usually for promotional events, but they are real. They are all named after jewish kings, IIRC.

Magnum 1.5L
Jeroboam 3.0L
Methuselah 6.0L
Salmanazar 9.0L
Balthazar 12.0L
Nabuchadnezzar 15.0L

Image

TIL, there is a 30.0L bottle - Melchizedek.

I suggest the Methuselah... perhaps one size up if you have good forearm strength. The methuselah is still handy enough that you can carry it by the neck like a baller. I imagine any larger and the neck gets too wide to hold with one hand and the bottle gets too heavy.

Also, if you plan to indulge in such a bottle outdoors during September, I highly suggest a white wine. You will never be able to drink a red wine before it gets too warm to be disgusting. 6.0L of red wine is also a lot for one person to drink, and the bottles are unwieldy. You may spill! Many ladies of the younger and greek persuasion [gentlemen, too really] quite enjoy the novelty. I *of course* am not speaking from experience.

They make beers like this sometimes too. The only beer I ever saw was a 5.0L or 6.0L of some seasonal mad elf beer or something.

ANYWHO - Got some pizza in me. A 20 OZ coffee, and, thankfully, I didn't leave my notebook in the class with my Testmasters notes. Time to do some more of the Manhattan LSAT grouping games and then maybe call it a night with a glass of pinot with a Robin lecture.

My most recent PT scores were 168 and 169 respectively. It seems like I've milked all the low hanging improvement out of logic games, my biggest issue now is time, I never finish all the questions in the allotted amount of time. Just gotta drill I guess. LG Bible followed by drilling games and watching the 7Sage video has been hugely helpful for me, especially in getting my brain to a place where I can see the underlying concepts behind a game. I'll start mixing in LR studying this week as that's where the other missed points are coming from...seems like there isn't as much of a consensus on the best LR prep material as there is on LG.
Yeah, that's because LG is more "mathematical" than LR. You can approach LR in this way, but it is often more nuanced. I'm using 7sage, but if you want their LR stuff you gotta at least buy their starter pack ($180). I've heard great things about the LRB, PowerScores a great prep company and you should be fine with them. The LSAT Trainer and Manhattan are also supposed to be very good. From my understanding RC is the toughy to improve on.

Also, that's a great diagnostic, mine was about the same (157). Last test I took was a 160 (163 after BR) after a week of studying. Assuming you're also in the 170+ camp, you're almost there with a lot of time left. If you've only focused on games at this point, then you're in even better shape because once you start you'll see a lot of improvement. Good luck.
oh sweet, I really liked the LG Bible so good to hear that people had good results for the LR version. Not sure if I'm ready to drop that kinda money for 7sage just yet, but then again if it's as helpful for LR as it has been for games might be worth it...
I will say that so far the LR stuff I've done with 7sage has been great. In 5-7 minute videos, JY explains concepts very succinctly that took my honors philosophy professor a week of classes to explain in ways that confused my whole class. Maybe I feel like it's easier because I've seen this kind of material before, but I remember how she taught it, and if I had to start over and learn it again from the ground up I would use JY's method.

Going to do - 25 Inference qs, LR ch 8, a few RC passages in a noisy environment.
That's good, and to get you used to at least some noise around. I went to my internships' law library today and drilled some LR. It wasn't too noisy but there were people walking back and forth, lightly talking in the distance, moving around papers, etc.
