Can't imagine they'd make the scale ahead of time before seeing how actual participants perform to the difficulty levels...What do you guys think?
Hmm I didn't think about that. I suppose they would have to adjust for tossed questions (like if no one gets a question right, or if there is a complaint about it, etc.)

I wonder if they also go through the experimental stuff prior to releasing our scores, especially if they are close to "perfecting" a section and want to use it soon.

Pretty positive they set the scale before the test is administered... But I feel like that whole process is a nebulous and no one really knows how they set the scale or why scores take 3+ weeks to receive.

Actually, speaking from a data analyst standpoint, it is as easy as pressing a button most likely because I build tools for my clients that basically are something similar.

Feed in data from scantrons into tool, and the tool populates all trends/averages/outliers for you. I think it's a matter of them just sorting through, and agreeing as a group which questions need to be thrown out, what curve should be it. Plus, they have to see complaints and see how many complaints come in, what percentage of tests that impacts, and which scores should be put on hold. That's the manual process within those 2-3 weeks.

Score calculation, etc - it's a 10 minute business because there are tools that can be built to calculate that for them.

(this is the most work-related I've talked in 2 weeks)

In a few of my prep books when they introduce the LSAT to you (which most people skip over but I have this weird thing about reading books cover-to-cover because I need to know everything) discussed the scale...I got the impression that it happens once they see how everyone actually performs. But then again, maybe they gauge it based on how people performed on them when they were in past experimental sections. Who knows.

The rejection is typically final, although some schools have an appeal process within 30 days of rejection...depends on the school. Look on the school's website. I've never heard of anyone ever doing this so that's all I've got.
So I work at an admissions office (undergrad, not law school, please don't jump me) and I have never understood the logic behind people that call back to see if their decision can be redone. I know some schools will appease you and put you on the waitlist, but that is really, really unlikely to pan out. I would just let the by gones be by gones and if you really want to go there, transfer.

Again, not the most legitimate advice, but I'm also secretly trying to get us to 100 pages so you're the sacrificial lamb :p

I've always been under the impression that questions get reviewed once students start to complain, but again how will we complain if we don't get to see the exam?

That's incorrect. If too many students miss any one question, it gets thrown out

But if you go to the gym, then that's one more hour that you don't have to worry about your score. Chance are you won't get it for another couple hours anyway, if not tomorrow.
