What PTs does that consist of? If it's A B and C, I just did those recently and they are challenging.melodygreenleaf wrote:+1. Yup, A, B, and C. There’s no one super tough/infamous/OMFG game, it’s just the section as a whole is quite challenging.Nicolena. wrote:What PTs does that consist of? Re: December 2013 Retakers
Any recommendation on NOT falling for some tricks under time pressure? i know this has to do with just "getting better" in general, but I am starting to realize how LSAT writers are purposely putting in answer choices that can be construed as the correct answer under time pressure.
When I review the questions, I'm just like DUH... but under time pressure, things that shouldn't be connecting start connecting in my mind and man, it's a mess!! I get kind of scatter-brained!!
Any suggestion on how to be DISCIPLINED in my thought pattern?

Thanks for the response! Ya, I know about the Indian preptests, but wasn't sure about the cambridge ones below them, thanks. Why do you say don't do them until I've mastered all the others? I thought they would just be good for drilling at night, regardless of what other PTs I've done.melodygreenleaf wrote:The games linked (June 2007, India 2-4) are from official tests that the LSAC offers for free so those are legit. India 2-4 may be a bit different though in terms of difficulty or game type, but they're still good practice.Yazzzay wrote:Hey guys,
I notice a lot of you are talking about doing a lot of games in the coming week, I was wondering if you've used the games cambridge has available?

I normally have all correct on the games but once every few tests a game will totally throw me off and ill drop to like 18-19 so I wanted to use these to drill...they aren't from preptests right? i dont recognize them from any preptest 40-65.../are they worth printing?
The ones below them are not from actual preptests. I wouldn't do them unless you've mastered every single logic game from PTs 1-70.
Also, thanks esther and bee!

Review Qs you get wrong and figure out why exactly you fell for the wrong answer. Often times this can come down to a single word (like only or primarily), an AC you thought was in scope but is actually out of scope (happens for strengthen and weaken questions), or reversed logic plain and simple (quite frequent for sufficient assumption and parallel flaw).esther0123 wrote:Any recommendation on NOT falling for some tricks under time pressure? i know this has to do with just "getting better" in general, but I am starting to realize how LSAT writers are purposely putting in answer choices that can be construed as the correct answer under time pressure.

Once you see a pattern, resolve not to let it happen again through drilling, extensive review, writing out explanations. Just my two cents.

PT 58
LR 1 -2
RC -4
LG -0
LR 2 -0
Raw: 95/101 = 175
Still not totally there on RC, missed two questions that I know I shouldve had, eventually convincing myself of answers that arent correct. Nevertheless, I'll take a -3 or -4 on game day considering how confident I am in other sections.

Re: December 2013 Retakers
Shit PT today. Third take of 69 and actually scored less than the retake (168 to 175 to 173). I felt rushed on every section and I'm attributing it mostly to not PTing for 10 days. I think I've been pushing the 'take it lightly' motto too hard, particularly since I should know by now that I'm not one to respond with high scores due to taking it lightly - I need to stay fresh with stuff constantly or else I slow down.
A minor consideration is that I might be going too strict with the test day conditions, if that's possible? I'm not eating on breaks and I just take a few sips of water before the test and during the break. Should I assume that the proctor(s) won't let me drink water during it? They didn't in Oct. And while I am at a different test center for Dec, I believe it's standard policy. I especially feel the lack of drinking water during the 3rd and 5th sections.

they will NOT let you drink watch as long as you are in the testing room. when proctor was reading rules in Oct. I was bored so i took a sip. the 2nd proctor instantly came over and whispered to me, i quote:Otunga wrote:Shit PT today. Are you taking too much caffeine thats dehydrating you? I think practicing under test day is the best method, and then in Dec if the regulations are a bit more lax, then thats good, but if not....you've already prepared for it.Otunga wrote:Shit PT today. Right. I don't think there were any explicit warnings aside from the reading of the rules. Someone just posted on here before that they were able to drink water during the test, but obviously you can't bet on the off-chance you're gonna get a lenient proctor.kobe1020 wrote:they will NOT let you drink watch as long as you are in the testing room. when proctor was reading rules in Oct. Bajam: I had coffee earlier in the day, and that did not help. But I agree - going 'more than strict' can help too.

Otunga, according to my girlfriend who is graduating from meds school next year, it's probably a bad idea to drink coffee if you need to concentrate for an extended period of time when no restroom break is allowed because coffee will make you want to pee..for some reasonsOtunga wrote:Right. I agree. I didn't in Oct and not gonna for the retake. I just happened to have coffee earlier. Re: December 2013 Retakers
Dunno if it will help, but I been taking Synchro now before PTs. I don't really notice much difference in concentration or anything, but drinking Synchro has been able to curtail my morning coffee. I drink a cup of black coffee during the break though after the first 3 sections and then some water. I don't really feel that thirsty until after I've answered everything so maybe you could try that, but then again if you're not drinking coffee at all then I guess ignore everything I just said lol.
If you super dehydrated in the morning, watch what you eat for dinner aka the night before. Anything that has lots of sodium/salt will definitely make you more inclined to be dehydrated. Then again, after you wake up from sleeping people are generally thirsty anyway.

Re: December 2013 Retakers
Synchro has been good for appetite reasons, but I don't recognize any concentration benefits, perhaps aside from the first one or two times I had it. I've been using it after workouts mostly (had it a couple hours before PTing earlier). It tastes good, but it's probably not something I'd get again.bee wrote:synchro is tcr and im not just saying that cus im bee. idk if there are any true mental benefits, but it does 1) ensure you won't be hungry/thirsty during the first 3 sections, and 2) enable you to skip coffee (i drink it in place of my normal coffee).Bajam wrote:Dunno if it will help, but I been taking Synchro now before PTs. eta: drilled 4 lg sections from the early 60s today, didn't get a single perfect score. went -1 on 62/64, -2 on 60/63, every single one of them careless mistakes. the horrible thing is that, when i drilled these games before oct, i went -0 on all of them![]()
IM SLIPPING AHHH.
Do not underestimate the LSAT. I've been taking it too casually and in conjunction with shitty sleep plus the coffee making me feel weird it didn't make for a good PT.

Just going to jump in and throw out something that worked for me in Oct. I really enjoy a small cup of coffee in the morning and it has become such a part of my routine that is more relaxing than anything. If you are concerned about dehydration or having to use the restroom, drink a lot of water the night before the test. I drank a ton of water the night before, and then one bottle in the morning (or drink less if this is sounds like a lot), and I didn't have any problems with being dehydrated, thirsty, or needing to use the restroom. Good luck Dec. takers!Bajam wrote:Are you taking too much caffeine thats dehydrating you?
