Exactly. Don't do smth drastic like training for a marathon, but have a routine of mid-intensity exercises. I started to emphasize swimming and running (aside from yoga and lifting) and it helps calm me down. One thing I did wrong in the fall (and ended up with a shit score) was forsake physical fitness. Never again.

That's what i hear, too - we are a pretty tight, awesome bunch!

It's over, but now I'm left with five weeks instead of seven, and nothing but 7 PTs under my belt. RC is still a killer (the only section where I sometimes cannot figure why the correct answer is correct -- ex. Roy Lichtenstein in PT 42, q's 11 and 12), LR I still have trouble with Most Strongly Supported and Assumption q's, and in LG I continue to sort of just wing it when it comes to diagramming rather than knowing what to do when I see a particular game type. I really, really hope that 5 weeks is still enough time to get this stuff straight. I'm going to try to do a PT a day with a day off every three or four days... see how that goes.

sdjf. Ok, so today I start fresh. Good luck to all of you!
Haha we still remember you ;). Hope all is well in the real life arena now. You were PTing really well before your break so I wouldn't worry about it. You'll be a-ok.

It stinks but once you force yourself to get through those days, over and over, during which you can't focus, you will actually learn to focus in any situation. It's awesome... the process is rough, but the result is worth it :)
Do the exact same thing, that you don't do for anything else, immediately prior to your test, every time. If you do that, it's like training a dog, but you're training your mind. For instance, I played one particular Bach play-list, and it just turned my 'focus-time' on :)

PT #33 May 2, 2011

Timed and Untimed

LR 1 20/25 (-2 Untimed)
RC 25/28 (-1 Untimed)
LR 2 24/25 (-0 Untimed)
LG 21/23 (-0 Untimed)

Raw Score Timed: 90/101 = Scaled 172

Raw Score Untimed: 98/101 = Scaled 180

I absolutely couldn't believe some of the silly mistakes I made in LG and RC

+1  I was hoping it would be easy after that 5 day break. Alas, it is not.

But Gev kudos on those scores. You are really well on your way to killing it in June.

Just finished PT 53

LR1: -0
LG: -0
LR3: -3
RC: -4
Raw: -7
Scaled: 174

Did a warm up RC before this test, got 8 wrong on the RC
I found doing a warm up section helps, although the warm up section is an epical failure in my case.
I seriously need to drill RC intensively. Time to review.

Man, it doesn't help that the weather's just getting nice where I am. When it was gray and gross I could focus so much better...now I just want to go outside and eat ice cream. sigh.

The untimed perfect score definitely shows that you have matered the skills and techniques, and as long as you have evolved your own way of time management and working under time pressure, you will be golden. Keep up the good work!

I assume you're signed up for June and so if by May 15 (the deadline) you don't break into upper 160s, I recommend postponing until Oct.

yea i'm registered for the june test, but i honestly thought i'd have done more studying by now. it was so hard to stay motivated when it was so far away, but now that it's getting closer and closer, i've been putting in much more time. i've scored in the 160's just not the high 160's yet. i guess we'll see how it goes. least i have a back up option

Finally going to get back to hardcore studying tomorrow, by noon I'll have all of my finals completed (college grad, woo hoo!).
I've been lazy about using experimentals, so starting tomorrow I'll be doing full five section prep tests with 30 minute time limits.
Let's watch my high 170's drop...

I'm finishing up some games (PT25 S3 G3 just punched me. Over 11 minutes and still got -2. Ow.) but I'll be online with the room open while I review PTs 29 and 52 just in case anyone drops in with anything they'd like to go over.

Ps- Gev if you're thinking seriously of Oct, I really would bet that you can do it in June. But of course you know your situation best.

Gev, great job with those back to back 170+ scores! Especially impressed with that -1 LR section and improved RC.

Aww, thanks for remembering Eich, haha. Gev, your latest scores are looking amazing, don't second-guess yourself now! Anyway, I'm not sure what I might be able to answer, but I was registered for the Oct 2010 test, and cancelled a month prior b/c logistically I couldn't have made it to the test center (req'd flying to a different country). All I remember doing was spending five days finding a fax machine (I was in the middle of nowhere) and then faxing a cancellation form.

Took Superprep A today. So I actually like doing LG, but somehow on the third logic game I ended up enjoying it too much and forgot I was taking a timed test... um, I'm serious. I started doing random hypos, and was startled when I heard my mp3 proctor saying I had 5 mins left. Oops. LRs went well, I think because I consciously tried to take note of what the question stem was asking me for. RC as usual tripped me up -- I am never 100% sure of my answer on at least a third of the questions. Thinking of getting the MLSAT guide, since it doesn't seem like most people would recommend the RC bible. What RC materials have you guys found most useful? Or, any strategies that the RC geniuses like Eich would want to share?

Btw, the PTs I've done are 40, 41, 42, 50, 51, 52, 33, and A, in case anyone ever wants to discuss questions from those. I'd be happy to offer any explanations I've got! :)
