I haven't gotten into it yet but I expect good things. the book organizes passages by structure instead of by subject matter, which seems to make more sense. its also about twice as long as other RC prep books.MAPP wrote:Oh well, maybe I'll actually end up buying itproteinshake wrote:It's overMAPP wrote:Are they still giving free BP books away to TLSers? Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
Officially checking in.
First diagnostic was in the 140's. Self studied to a 161 in December 2012 (-11 LG) followed by an extremely disappointing 157 in October 2013.
3.85 LSAC GPA.
I went to work full time instead of enrolling in LS and picked the studying back up in late Summer 2015. Material-wise I have read PowerScore LG, RC and LR, Manhattan LR and RC, Kaplan RC and currently making my way through Mike Kim's LSAT Trainer (which so far is excellent). Go ahead and skip both Manhattan books if you are going to read the PowerScore books. Matter of fact skip the Kaplan RC too and focus on the LSAT Trainer strategies for RC. I would recommend to anyone who does not want to take a paid class, to read and master the strategies laid out in the PowerScore LG and LR books and then when you feel like you have peaked to make your way through the LSAT trainer.
I took my first full timed PT of this cycle three weeks ago
PT 62: 167 (-8 LG
). You may see a pattern developing.
Shooting for 170+. I need to get my s straight on LG and I will be happy.

I'm glad you said this, only one person responded to my thought of doing this by saying not to. Been stressed about it. My plan is to do Powerscore LG and Blueprint RC over the weekends until summer, at which time I'll do the Trainer full time until my September take. Hopefully this works.dt24 wrote: I would recommend to anyone who does not want to take a paid class, to read and master the strategies laid out in the PowerScore LG and LR books and then when you feel like you have peaked to make your way through the LSAT trainer.

Interesting, I just looked at some of those threads and consensus looked split to me, many of whom basically suggested there is no difference either way. Guess we're reading different forums. But thanks anyway, that link helped.proteinshake wrote:if you look around the forums, almost everyone will tell you to start with the Trainer. look here: https://www.google.com/search?q=top-law ... chools.comO.J. wrote:I'm glad you said this, only one person responded to my thought of doing this by saying not to. Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
I know I've probably annoyed a lot of you all on this thread regarding LSAT prep, but I'm in a dilemma choosing a 2nd prep course...
I am currently enrolled in a Kaplan prep course which starts next week, but I am also wanting to enroll in an additional prep course over the summer, most likely Powerscore or Blueprint. I'd like to enroll in an additional prep course to get more practice, prep, etc. The only prep materials I currently have are the Powerscore Bibles, which I have found to be helpful and understanding. Before I make a decision, I have a couple questions:
1) My original plan was to take the Kaplan course until it ends in June, and self-study until the September LSAT. Is taking an additional prep course a good idea to begin with?[ I think it's also important to note that the Blueprint course ends on the same week as the LSAT test date
2) Will taking an additional prep course prevent me from doing more review/drilling, or do these courses help with drilling and analyzing each problem deeper?
3) Since I am comfortable with the Powerscore bibles, should I lean more towards to the Powerscore prep course to hone in on their strategies?
4) Considering I am comfortable with the bibles, would it be a bad idea to enroll in another prep course that teaches different strategies/techniques, or is being exposed to different strategies from other prep companies helpful?
5) Are live courses that much better than online courses?
6) If you took a Powerscore or Blueprint course, what was your experience like?
Any advice is surely appreciated! I'm willing to spend and utilize the best resources in order to get a good score. Thanks a bunch in advance!

I would personally put the money towards a 7sage subscription and go through his online videos if you've already taken a prep course.. I think you'd get much more out of it since two prep courses will just teach the same basic information in different ways.

Update: Kaplan just cancelled their class for the second time, probably because everyone has heard about the negative reviews haha. I'm done with them too and just asked for a refund. So, what prep course would you take- Blueprint or Powerscore???

Thanks for the responses re: the Blueprint RC book. I think what I'll do is see where I'm at post MLSAT RC book, if I find it makes a huge difference with Trainer, then I won't get it. If I find I am not doing well with RC post material, I'll look into the Blueprint RC book.
I looked at their sample chapter online, it seems very similar to the MRC book, but who knows it might be really mind and lifechanging!

Hi all. I want to take the LSAT in September, hence my posting to this board. I was wondering what would be best for someone who has never seen the LSAT before. I've purchased the PowerScore Bible bundle and am going to start with the 4 month plan. Are there an other recommendations so I can get the 170 that I need?

Good luck with the 170! I hope you get it. You could look into taking a physical prep course such as Princeton or TestMasters in addition to your 4 month study plan.HarveySpecs wrote:Hi all. Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
Hey guys, I've been lurking for a year and now joining you for the September study group!!
I've been studying since maybe August of last year with a part-time job, took the December test, choked, then cancelled, and took the February one and scored 7 pts below my PT average..
(mentally shook up during the LG which was pretty straight forward).. I took a long break (gasp) since then only doing a few problems and drills here and there. I'm now back to studying mode. I'm aiming for 173+ for my last chance and applying this cycle.
Sorry if this has been asked before.. But I signed up for the June 2016 test and decided to postpone my test to the September 24 date. I saw that one of the posters in this thread asked when the late sep/oct one opens up for registration and was told mid-June. However, I'm trying to postpone by May 17th change date deadline to the September one. Does anyone know if the September one will open for registration before the June test's date change deadline? Or does one have to withdraw for partial refund for the June test and then sign up for the September one again?
I have already sent an email to LSAC about it, in case anyone is in the same boat. I doubt they will tell me exactly when the test will open up but hoping they will let me know if I can chance it to September before the date change deadline. But if anyone has had experience with this situation in the past. I'd appreciate it!!

In case anyone's wondering, those signed up for the June 2016 will be able to postpone for the September one close to the date change deadline!

This is going to be vague, but bear with me. I seem to remember reading, either on the 7sage site or here on TLS, about a book to supplement lsat studies. Pretty sure it was about logic or logical thinking or something along those lines... anyone know what I'm talking about? I'm getting all my prep books ready for study this summer and thought I might buy this book for when I have down time and don't really want to study.

anyone else plan on having a rigorous schedule over the summer? I plan on waking up very early in the morning everyday and making sure I workout 5-6 times a week, eat healthy, and, of course, get in all my LSAT studying each week.
