Re: Retaking October Thread
Ending my lurking and signing on with y'all for October. Took June but canceled as soon as I verified which games section was experimental
I was averaging 170-174 in practice tests, with a few 168's and 176+'s. I took the last few weeks off after the June over-thinking/over-stressing debacle, and scored a 174 on my first "get back in the groove" test yesterday. Made me feel justified in the cancel, because I estimate I scored 167-171 tops, even with the generous curve. Le sigh...
I took most of the prep-tests before June, but I'm not uber concerned because finding zen-mode and regulating my pacing and concentration is primarily what I need to work on, rather than any question type or material. Aside from maybe a few older game type reviews... *cough nightmare cough*
I decided to order the super-prep with 3 February tests I've never seen in addition to printing out minty fresh copies of all the tests I've already taken. Nothing seemed too familiar on my retake yesterday, and it was useful to see the questions I got wrong twice in a row. So, lack of fresh materials aside, I think things are looking rosy for an October retake
I'm also thinking of taking up chi-running to work on my mindset, and hiking/swimming/sailing as much as possible this summer. Boo yeah, stress relief.
Glad to be in the mix with y'all!

Big time, especially because I spent all spring studying and now face spending my August weekends in the library. I'm spending next week at the beach and keep telling myself I'll dive back in when I return. Meh.beidoun wrote:Is anyone else having troubling getting back into LSAT studying mode?

Just started studying, and like poster above, hopefully will start practice testing by September.

Same. I probably won't start studying for at least another couple of weeks realistically.Snoring Meatball wrote:Big time, especially because I spent all spring studying and now face spending my August weekends in the library. scored a 159 on the june lsat (which is about my average). my highest PT when i was studying for the june lsat was a 161.
started studying for the retake last week. i plan on taking a PT within a week to see how im doing. shooting for a 160+ in october.
kinda sucks cuz i think i peaked around a 159-161.
good luck all

Re: Retaking October Thread
Started back up again yesterday. Pretty depressing opening my clear gallon bag to get my #2 pencils and analog watch.
Worked an untouched games section from 36 and then today worked an LR and Games from Superprep. My timing is SLOW, but that's relative to me working entire games sections in 25-28 minutes.
I'm not taking nearly as much of a "balls to the wall" approach as I did the first time. I have maybe 20 PT's to do, then I'm winding it down come October 1st. I don't want to get burned out this time. I did notice, whilst working LR, my reading comp was better and I didn't second guess at all. It would be nice to have the sort of refreshed clarity in about two months.
Full PT either tomorrow or Thursday. It's tough to get motivation when I know I have a great shot at getting into one of my top 3 schools even with my piss poor score.

Re: Retaking October Thread
I think part of my motivation problem for getting back into studying is that my major flaw in June was over-stressing. I wigged out on the first section and didn't get my groove back until the last few sections.
I've taken two practice tests since and I'm at the upper range of my scores, things are alright. I think I'll start back with one weekly practice test this next week, with just a tidbit of review. But frankly, anything more than that and I'll risk getting too antsy once again. So, instead of studying several times a week I'm doing my best to get out, have fun, even occasionally get laid. It definitely helps...
Managed to snag a new job as a legal assistant for the year, so while I'm not studying at least I'm padding my resume a little and finding out just what the hell I'm getting myself into
Good vibes and happy continued studying to all.

im being so nonchalant about the retake even though i should be studying more. i guess its the fact that i only need to score at least 1 point higher. i will start PTing september.
man oh man the difference between a 159 and a 160.

Yeah, I haven't really started PT'ing or studying yet either. I will when I get back from vacation at the end of August.am060459 wrote:im being so nonchalant about the retake even though i should be studying more. i guess its the fact that i only need to score at least 1 point higher. i will start PTing september.

Welcome to my world, circa 2007. Hence the name of my blog, hence the post about me moving from 172 to 180.
