How much time does it take to just read the passage in your experience? I think that in 7 minutes I can't even reach the first questionAlexandros wrote:34iplaw wrote:InterLaw wrote:Alexandros wrote:
Also a native speaker so obviously not the same struggle but one thing that helped me with timing is doing passages individually with a strict time limit - Practicing passages one at a time with a 7 minute time limit, for example.

Re: The Official June 2017 Study Group
Just did Prep Test #36 (21st for me). 164 again but interesting results:
LR: -4
RC: -7
LG: -8
Never made so many mistakes on LG, I found it very hard this time (maybe due to absolutely no exercise during the last 5 months). However, I found RC much easier than the last I remember (last PT was on november).
Now here's my idea: what if, while trying to improve my RC reading several passages every day, I work hard on LG? I usually make the first 3 LGs without errors and the fourth completely blank / 1st answer... Well, I think with some exercise I could reach the -0 on LG, and I think it is a better and faster way to improve my scores than working hard on RC. We are 2 months from the test: 1 month hard on LG and every day reading exercises, then 1 month hard on RC, when I'll be more fluent on reading.
Now the question: how do I take down my -5 LG average to a 0, considering that usually I never get an answer wrong, just not enough time to reach the last (and hardest) game? Just Powerscore LG Bible? (speaking of which, I have the 2008 edition. Has the time come to buy a new one?)

yeah you might see a lot of benefits if you speed up actually. whats your like, method for attacking the passage?34iplaw wrote:Seven minutes is probably too long.InterLaw wrote:How much time does it take to just read the passage in your experience? I don't think I have an actual method on that... Like, I read the passage (5-6 mins), and I go for the answers (1 min each)... I have to go back and check on the text usually 1 or 2 times, not more.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:yeah you might see a lot of benefits if you speed up actually. whats your like, method for attacking the passage?34iplaw wrote:Seven minutes is probably too long.InterLaw wrote:How much time does it take to just read the passage in your experience? I know this is easier said than done, but try forcing yourself to read the passage quicker.InterLaw wrote:I don't think I have an actual method on that... I for one think we need a new OP and some goddamn polls. We're less than two months to test daygrandpapy360 wrote:We gotta up our post count. These are rookie numbers. The September thread is putting us to shame.

Both of those series just got real interesting. Nash might be too physical for chioopsu812 wrote:What's going on with Chicago? Also, I hate the Leafs.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:Woooo hockey

Re: The Official June 2017 Study Group
I took PT 57 yesterday. I did really well and I hope I am able to replicate it for my actual LSAT.
I am retaking LSAT which I scored 160.
I scored a 175. It was a 4 section PT. I timed myself.
LG -0
LR1 -3
LR2 -2
RC -1
I was surprised with how well I did with RC because I swear I was sort of making educated guesses with the last two passages. After Blind Reviewing LR's, I was able to correct 3 questions. I made a bubbling mistake in LR1.
My next PT will be on Tuesday. I will take PT 58. Tomorrow I will drill some games and RC's.

I haven't watched any of Chi vs. Nash because I thought it would be a relatively easy win for Chicago, but clearly I was wrong!Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:Both of those series just got real interesting. Re: The Official June 2017 Study Group
Haven't reviewed or scored my PT from today. Had some horrible distractions, didn't get to 5 questions overall (just put in my answer choices of the day), and felt like a zombie for the first 3/4s of the test. Want to throw this PT in the fire. Hold me
I'm also getting nervous for June because the afternoon time is my normal mental slog and trying to figure out how to best alleviate that. Usually I drink a cup of tea before the test and a cup of tea during the break, obviously I can't do that on test day. I'm trying out caffeine pills instead but man, that half one I did today didn't do much.
