At this point it feels like I'm going to need a statistically unusual day to go 170+ during the June writing. I got a 170 last week but this isn't the norm by any stretch. Trying to temper my expectations for a "one and done" LSAT experience.

The silver lining: for the first time in a while, I didn't go "on tilt" during one LR section. -4/-4 isn't great but it's not freakishly volatile either, which I view as an improvement.
I'm in the same boat - PTing in the high 160s, and my goal was 170... don't think it's gonna happen. But we can try!!

Also - I'm envious that you're done with your PT for today. I'm still at work, and still have to go home and begin a PT :(

BUT yes, I was thinking - the test takers sitting for the exam where comparative reading was rolled out were likely totally blindsided. It's not unreasonable to think they'd introduce something completely new on our test either. It's discouraging, but you gotta respect the test.

Less than four weeks. On some level, I'm petrified because I haven't hit my target yet (and likely won't), but I'm also so ready to get it over with.
this, yes

i told myself months ago that if i got +170 for june i wouldn't retake in the fall
now i'm just praying for a +167 and i'm not even focused on retaking
i haven't pt'd lower than 166 since like 12 tests ago - but there's always that chance you could fuck up entirely on gameday...

Same here. Goal is 171. Highest score thus far is a 170. Last PT was a 167 on PT 70 with my past scores varying between 166-170. I only expect to stay the same/regress after hearing of the difficulty increase in the 70s.

Trying to stay optimistic that if I can nail down RC I will reach my goal but time will tell.

Yea, I think it might be healthy to just plan on treating June as the 1st of 3 attempts. Takes a lot of the stress off, might allow us to focus, and quite frankly, if you go high-160's first time out of the gate, you're very likely to grab a 170+ at some point this fall.

Anyone here ever take a practice test with the writing section? I'm always too lazy to do it + I don't even know the proper format or how to write it properly.

-2 to -4 total? That's pretty damn impressive considering you didn't learn the question types

I never have but I am considering adding another (6th) section in my upcoming PTs to really increase my test taking stamina.

No, -2 to -4 per section.

My breakdown for almost every PT is:
LR (-2 to -4)
LG (-0 to -2)
LR (-2 to -4)
RC (-2 to -5)

But i've haven't gone -4,-2, -4, -5 (164) or -2, -0, -2, -2 (175)

It usually adds up to about -13 (167/168)

At least you're consistent across all the sections. I've been averaging around a 166 over my last 5 tests, and have been going -5,-6 in games. My LR score is holding things up. Come June, if we get a difficult LR or RC section, I'm screwed as that could mean a 160,161 score. It's so freakin' aggravating. Last test, PT 69, I went -6 in LR, -2 RC, and -6 in games lol, on what was considered to be an easy section. Scored a 168 though, which I'd be really happy with to score on a first take.

PT 61

166
RC: -9 (Kill me please)
LR: -4
LG: -1
LR: -3

Did it yesterday evening without a 5th "experimental" section. I can't seem to get past -9/-10 on RC, fml.

YOU GUYS. I'm so effing tired. I just did PT 70... but somehow managed to do the first three sections of 70 and then the first section of 71 (the last section of 70 was LR...the first section of 71 was also LR)...

W/e. I'll swap the last section of 70 for the first section of 71 when I do PT 71 on Saturday.

But ayy I got a 170 (even though the curve is likely messed up because of my IDIOTIC error)

Sorry you're tired dude. Hang in there...lights on at the end of the tunnel and a 170 is a good sign that it might actually be the exit.

To everyone concerned that the June test won't be their only take, fear not. (I was going to make an "arrow to the knee" reference vis. Dec 2015 game 3, but no--I'm better than that.) Basically I was exactly in your shoes six months ago: hoping for a 173+ despite only having hit that mark two or three times, almost entirely on pre-PT40 tests. By late November, I was pretty severely burned out, but I was afraid if I stopped working my score would suffer. To the contrary, I think I hit 170 once in the 4 weeks leading up to Dec 15, during which I worked through 61-76. Mainly I was in the upper 160s, occasionally even tanking to the low 160s. It was all super discouraging, but I persevered, slowly coming to realize that a subsequent take was likely. I ended up with a 170s score, which I wasn't bummed out about--but I figured I could likely hit that 173+ if I studied smarter. So I took a few months off--and I mean off--and when I finally got back on the wagon in March, it was like something had clicked. In the past month, of the 8 PTs I've done, I haven't scored below a 174 once, and several of my scores have been 177+.
So, long story short, a retake isn't the end of the world; do your best now, but know that even if things don't work out this time around, you've got plenty of time to make things even better.
