Re: December 2013 LSAT Waiting Thread

Starbucks coffee beans are actually one of my least favorite for whatever reason. It comes out a lot more bitter in my machine than most other espresso roast beans. Price also keeps me away from starbucks beans since I don't have a costco nearby to buy in bulk =(

If we want to start a new topic I can share the two reasons I want to go to law school.

When I was six I got a piece of bazooka joe bubblegum and the fortune at the bottom was "you should be a lawyer". I honestly never changed my "what I want to be when I grow up" since then. I have much better reasons now, I was fortunate enough to take a 1L class with a law professor and I absolutely loved it. It was through a "Special Program in Law" thing at my school, read the entire Canon of American Legal thought in a semester (edit: we did a lot more than just read it, I realized this probably isn't impressive to TLSers)

The second reason I had in high school was that my favorite comedians had gone to law school. Greg Giraldo was a Harvard grad and Demetri Martin was accepted to Harvard (went to NYU on scholarship I believe). There were a couple others that I can't think of now. It seemed like all of the funniest people I met were lawyers. If I go to school in a big city I will probably try it out.

Anybody else have terrible reasons why they originally wanted to go to law school?

I enjoy beans from the local "craft roaster." But those with less refined tastes (kidding) could probably start with whole bean Starbucks or Peet's (the latter is preferred). I remember the first time I had freshly ground coffee at home. The flavor and texture were so eye-opening. I don't think it even has to be high quality when you're first getting started.
costco sells whole bean starbucks and its perfectly fine to my taste (plus the added convenience of buying in bulk), but one of my favorites is http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/

eta this is not aimed at snag, who sounds like a coffee hipster

eta2 i use a french press i bought overseas for like, fifteen dollars. it doesnt cost too much to pick up a really nice one that will last you ages.
brb buying lensless Warby Parkers.

Thanks for the link. I bookmarked it and will order something in the new year. And I'm hardly a snob, in fact, I buy a chain dark roast daily b/c I'm too lazy to make my own. Also, I'm a card carrying member of the costco cult so I'll look into that, too.

As much as I love Costco, I can't stand their vodka. I tried, believe me, but I just couldn't.

 this possibility didn't even occur to me! Where will I buy 57 lbs of spinach and frozen fruit for smoothies?

Also seconding the artichokes and vodka!

Yes. Costco is where I get the lion's share of my snacks and alcohol. They have an overwhelming variety of nuts and produce.

Cheme2014, costco has two house brand vodkas (both kirkland?), the kirkland signature in the massive bottle is above average quality and a pretty incredible bargain.

Haha nvm then  I thought you were talking about the Kirkland brand. Someone brought it to a party and it was absolutely horrid (to me).

Yeah, the massive bottle is a great deal, but it just didn't really work for me. :/ It worked just fine for many of my friends, though :P

I'm not a vodka drinker and haven't bought it but I thought it tasted rather smooth and I have it on good authority from a friend that's a distributor that the kirkland shit shares the same distiller in Cognac, France as Grey Goose making them virtually indistinguishable from each other to taste testers.

I've heard the Grey Goose/Kirkland stuff, too, but I could never tell if it was true or not haha. Now I know, I guess. :)
When I tried it, it was pretty smooth, and that was a plus, but there was a subtle flavor that I really didn't like. I'm not an alcohol connoisseur, by any means, and I'm also not a fan of Grey Goose, so I'm probably just a weirdo lol.
