Me: "Well you could have at least brushed your teeth before coming this morning, or would that be 'trying to hard, for no reason'"

One guy was retaking the test hoping to get 149. He got 140 last October. He was hoping to get into Cooley or Detroit Mercy. He was also considering another career if he does not score high enough.
He told me that he was working full-time and did not have enough time to prepare.

Genuinely sad if true. I would have politely asked him if he had looked at employment data, and suggested that he could do better for himself. I don't care if it's not my place, and I don't care if it upsets him, it's a good deed in my book.

Yeah, not giving unsolicited advice is prudent, you probably save yourself a lot of headaches, seriously. I wouldn't do it because I thought I had some obligation or because I thought it was a good idea, I just doubt I'd be able to help myself. Especially if the guy mentioned that he was considering other careers. I'd be like, "YEAH. DO THAT." Also I understand the need to get pumped, I definitely wasn't trying to talk to people or overhear conversation before my test, was way too busy blaring the Space Jam theme song in my head.

Just a guess based on the "mom" in her user name, but I think she meant a different kind of pumping that would probably be frowned upon by the proctors.

I think this is a huge element of the mentality that justifies people attending TTTs and TTTTs. One of the defenses that Deans at these schools use to justify themselves is "There are poor people who are always in need of legal services. Ask them if there is a shortage of lawyers." This is resonant because 1) it's true (at least as far as there are people who need legal representation and don't receive it) and 2) because people want to believe that they will be one of the good guy lawyers who makes the world a better place and thus they're special and are destined for law school.

My disappearance after the break was the only noticeable event at my test center. Everybody behaved as if they were at a funeral- minimum interaction.

I think this is a huge element of the mentality that justifies people attending TTTs and TTTTs. One of the defenses that Deans at these schools use to justify themselves is "There are poor people who are always in need of legal services. Ask them if there is a shortage of lawyers." That's great that they accommodated you, though.

It's a new policy - all nursing mothers can request (and generally be granted) the accommodation for up to a year after giving birth.

We do not have a shortage of lawyers. We have a shortage of lawyers who are able and willing to make $25K a year representing the people who truly are under-served by the legal community.

Another 10,000 TTT/TTTT grads with $200K in debt isn't going to help that.
