Re: October 2010 Test Prep
rc is a pain.. what worked well for me was to do a couple of timed sections of rc, and experiment with different marking techniques, and notations. Everyone has a technique that works well for them, and earlier in this thread someone gave a good advice ofr what works for them ( i think around pg 62-66ish).

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Just took SuperPrep C and got a 167 after getting 4 straight 158's on PT# 50, 51, Jun07 & SP B. It had a very generous curve and Im hoping its not a fluke. Got a 82 raw score after usually getting around 74. I would love to have an 80 raw score as my new baseline going forward. Definitely need to improve on RC.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
A few times on PT 52 I got to the end of some LR questions feeling like one answer was more credited than others and yet that answer seemed incredibly weak itself. Most times when this happens I miss a key deduction or phrase, or that I just can't think of why a certain piece of information is relevant.
Does anyone have any sort of routine they go through when they are confronted with this situation (such as look at key modifier words or try to find suspiciously broad words)?

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Preptest 49. 88 raw 168 scaled. I guess I am just firmly planting my average and median at 168 and this is kinda pissing me off. Good news is though that I haven't scored below 167 in a long time, just a lot of 167's and 168's with a few 170-175's put in. All I want is a god damn 170 on test day. Here's the breakdown.
LG -1 (pissed I missed one as I almost never miss any and it was a stupid mistake)
LR - 3
RC - 5 (again, only one missed until I was rushed on last passage)

pt 45 today 169 with three misbubbles, for the sake of my confidence i'll call it a 172 which it would have been without misbubbles. LR1 -4 RC -9 (including 3 misbubbles) LG -0 LR -0

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
gosh, everyone here scores so insanely high.
i've scored 163 in three straight pt's, and it's annoying me so much, especially considering my mistakes varied wildly from test to test (-3 RC in two of the tests to -8 in another) and (-11, -10 and then -6 in LR). i can't even identify my strongest section anymore.

HAHA AWESOME I'M GETTING SICK.
Just a cold, but I get horrid colds. Fracking hell.
Ah well, it shouldn't last until the 9th. At least I'm not getting it the week before the LSAT.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I typically find 2-3 LR questions on a given test to be difficult and to have a fairly obscure A/C. For these questions, I go strictly by process of elimination; a quick glance usually gets it down to two A/C's. I then re-read the stimulus, comparing key elements (e.g., changing "most" to "some," identifying an absolutism, looking for an intentionally excluded word), and make the final cut. If I'm still having problems, I'll finish the section and refer back with a semi-fresh perspective. I usually finish 5-10 minutes early, though, so this strategy might not work for some.lamentable wrote:A few times on PT 52 I got to the end of some LR questions feeling like one answer was more credited than others and yet that answer seemed incredibly weak itself. Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Preptest 50 this morning 89 raw - 169 scaled. Stupid, Stupid LG mistake robbed me of the 171 I should have had. I mislabeled a rule and didn't realize until I had done the entire game. Had to go back through the game and re-do every answer and didn't get to two of them. Two preptests in a row I make stupid mistakes on LG when I almost always go -0. Breakdown.
RC - 5 (-0 through first 3 passages, ran out of time and guess on 4 questions on last passage, I don't know why I just can't improve my time here)
LR - 0 (first ever -0 on a LR section)
LG - 2 (stupid mislabeling, should have gone -0)
LR - 4 (found myself really distracted during this section, a lot of noise in the library at this time)
One good thing is it has been a long time since i've gone less than 88 raw. Hopefully a generous curve will help me this October.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Preptest 45 today, timed, in the Union with lots of distracting noises.
Result: My new personal best
96 Raw, 179 scaled.
This comes after two weeks straight of 168 - 170s and a previous personal best of 174.
LR: -2
RC: -0
LG: -0 (I'll admit, a couple of these were guesses after I narrowed it down to two)
LR: -2
The only downside? One more right would have been a scaled 180. Oh well.

I got, or scored if you will, a 156 on SuperPrep Test C. I got average scores on the LR, a bit below average LG, and a personal best on RC.

Does anyone have advice about allergies? I recently moved here a few months ago and my allergies are going crazy! I have the sniffles nonstop even after taking Claritin. Im afraid test day will be no different and everyone hates the one person that sniffles all through out the test.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you at? Is there any possibility of whatever is causing your allergies dying/hibernating by that time?

Im in Austin. I believe its mold and this is purely based on tracking pollen/mold count on bad days and probably making an unjustified correlation.

I just had one of my best tests in a while. PT55, -3 for a 178.
-1 on the first LR, and -2 on RC. I usually miss at least 1 in LG so it felt good to ace it, and with 5 minutes left over, as well. And that is after spending about 10 minutes on the last game.
So, feeling good.

Similar situation here. Just scored a 178 (-3) on PT 52. By far my highest score to date. (previous high was 174, avg was 171) All three misses were on RC.Adjudicator wrote:I just had one of my best tests in a while. PT55, -3 for a 178.

Anyone else have a uncharacteristic score boost on 52?

I'm currently on 50. Got a 171. VERY relieved because I was suffering in the 40's! The LR was so tricky for me! Section breakdown:
RC: -8!! (SOBS omg whyyy?)
LR1: -1
LG: -0
LR2: -0
I HATEEEE RC!

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
My low LR mark in a while, I was going fine until I hit the second LR. -2, -1, -5 (???), -3/ 169. Not a bad score by any stretch, I'd be thrilled with it on the real deal, but -5. I missed three in a row too on the second LR. My timing is fine (always finish with 5+ minutes left). I'm going to chalk this one up as a errant bloop, maybe an issue of focus/ I haven't eaten anything more than two margaritas and bagels in the past 48 hours. The Gentleman wrote:Similar situation here. Worked through the LG's in the 20's recently to bring my games back up to err... game. I demolished PT23's games, (supposedly the 2nd game is very tough)... went through it in about 8 minutes, piece of cake; didn't miss any, and under-time. I'm finally back to speed on games, really hitting my stride, but now it looks like LR might need some fine tuning.
Going to mow down PT53, 54, 55 and 56 within a week. Then I'm going to tone it way back and review, review, review up until D-Day.

Austin allergies are the worst. I grew up here and it was awful. Pretty sure all this rain/dampness is definitely jacking up the mold count. Hope you aren't allergic to cedar, that's the worst.psychlaw wrote:Im in Austin. Austin allergies are TERRIBLE. Anywhere south of Dallas, North of San Antonio wreaks havoc on my sinuses. Every time I go back to texas, I always have to stock up on allergy pills, or else I suffer from it. Once I moved to OK, my sinuses instantly cleared up.akili wrote:Austin allergies are the worst. Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Im super stoked right now. Just took PT 51, and FINALLY broke the 165 barrier. I scored a 168. -4 RC, -0 LG and -10 on LR. I really need to fix my LR like crazy. I obviously zoned out on the last 4 questions of the 2nd LR section and that showed. But I'm so excited. I've been aiming for a 165 all summer, and it finally happened. Hopefully this isnt a fluke!
