Re: October 2010 Test Prep
This is the 3rd and final time I am taking the LSAT. The first time, I canceled my score because I had no confidence in myself that I scored over a 160. The second time, my practice scores were in the mid-high 160s before the test, with an eventual score of a 163. I figure that because I am not starting law school until next September anyway, I may as well have a final go at it in October and see what happens. First, does anyone agree with my logic? Second, does anyone have any tips that can help be gain a few extra points? I feel like I have read entirely too much of this forum, studied way too many hours, and invested too much money to not give it a last shot. Has anyone found something that has allowed them to get over that final hump? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to everyone in October!

Congrats! It's good to see that all this effort can pay off, what a great motivator. Have fun taking a well deserved break!!sgtgrumbles wrote:1. 8. 0. 180. I just scored my first 180. Holy. Shit. This feels so good.
PT 52
-3 RC exp., -0 LR, -1 LG, -1 LR, -0 RC.
Raw: 97/99. Scaled: 180.
And my last recommender, after not being in touch for three months, wrote me back today agreeing to write me a letter. Time to celebrate.

Definitely take it again, you pretty much have nothing to lose.shmumush wrote:This is the 3rd and final time I am taking the LSAT. There is so much advice on this forum for you to comb through and everyone is different. I've definitely broken through by doing quite a few PTs and always reviewing every wrong answer and figuring out exactly why I messed up with the goal of not doing it again. I've definitely seen improvement. Obviously the prep books like the bibles can help too, but it is getting late for that. I would just practice practice practice using real questions.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Actually I have read all 3 of the bibles.. I have been studying for about a year now. They are great books. I guess what I need to do at this point is pound out the mistakes I have been making.. My worst section is logic games. (On the June '10 LSAT I scored a 15 of 23) I am scouring the forum and internet for tips but it's tough finding a method that can work with my TestMasters method. (Which in my opinion, its greatly inefficient) Thanks for the advice, I think I am going to re-take for the last time and cross my fingers! Good luck to you!

Didn't do my PT today. Just not up for it due to various factors. Hopefully tomorrow.
I did about 7 games on my bus ride, though.

F* it! You'll be ok even if you do only like 2 or 3 test between now and test day.eit wrote:Didn't do my PT today. Just not up for it due to various factors. Hopefully tomorrow.

I on the other hand need to work as much as is possible. Haha!

But I feel like I have to keep doing PTs, haha, no rest for the wicked.
Re: October 2010 Test Prep
If I keep doing PT's at the pace that I have been, I feel like i'm going to run out. Testmasters killed 3 tests for me already. I'm running out of things to do in between tests. I just can't keep focused after reviewing tests to do any other problems.

I feel the exact same way... I'm just ready to get it done with. Have your scores been where you want them? Mine haven't so I'm motivating myself that way.curryinaninstant wrote:If I keep doing PT's at the pace that I have been, I feel like i'm going to run out. Testmasters killed 3 tests for me already. I'm not sure. For a while, I was hitting a wall at 169, then out of nowhere a 174 and a 177. I'm saying its a fluke.

I don't in any way mean to diminish the accomplishment, but doesn't that add up to 94/99?sgtgrumbles wrote:1. 8. 0. 180. I just scored my first 180. Holy. Shit. This feels so good.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
the -3 was in the experimental section, so it didnt affect his score.....
the ruling on the field that it was a 180 is upheld... sgtgrumbles is now free to celebrate however they want for the rest of the night..

Exact same situation for me. I had a wall at 169/170 and my last two were a 174 and a 177. I'm going to be extremely depressed if I drop back to 170 anytime soon, I'm feeling pretty confident.curryinaninstant wrote:I'm not sure. Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Blah!
PT 50
RC -6
LR -0
LR (exp) -1
LG -0
LR -4
90 raw
170 scaled
Riddled basins was not that bad, I missed one on that passage. The rest ... haha I almost want to laugh because RC is usually my best section, -1/-0. Dunno what's going on here, but the problems are fixable, clearly. Unrepresentative I swear
What do you guys think of doing RC warm-up? Maybe two passages to get pacing right? I usually do one only. Eesh, gotta step it up if I want to hit 176 again.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Same here. I was averaging 169-171 over the last 20+ PTs. My last two PTs shocked me (176 and 179). I'm treating it as a fluke as well, must not get complacent. I think that is the right attitude.curryinaninstant wrote:I'm not sure. For a while, I was hitting a wall at 169, then out of nowhere a 174 and a 177. I'm saying its a fluke.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Ok so I've been reading this thing for a couple months now and I finally decided to post something on it. It seems like you guys give pretty good advice here so i was wondering what you thought my chances are on test day if I've been getting scores like this:
PT26-168
PT27-164
PT28-163
PT29-161
PT30-169
PT55-163
PT54-162
PT53-170
These are just the most recent ones i've taken but my scores have pretty much been in this pattern
Thats the oder i've been taking them, I just feel like I'm all over the place and have no idea what to expect on test day. I'd appreciate any input you guys have, thanks.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
is there a section that is influencing your scores the most? If its LR, is there a specific pattern to your misses? LG, is there a game type that frustrates you? Id look over your last 5 tests, and itemize which questions you got wrong for LR, what type of games stump you, and try to practice those ones more.
Although, i would guess that if the test were today, you would score a 163+. Remember that puts you in the 80th+ percentile of all test takers in the past 3 years, which is a feat in itself.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Thanks, I've been consistently getting -0 on LG and my LR has been improving over the tests, I actually just got my first -0 on the last test I took.
RC has been a killer tho, my scores for that have been all over the place. I usually end up missing more on RC than the other 3 sections combined. I'm hoping I'll be able to get that down by test day.
Thanks for the input i appreciate you taking the time
