So, I started with the RC section, struggled with the 3rd passage, and ran out of time. I thought I bombed the section and this ruined my mindset for the rest of the test.

It turns out I didn't bomb it (i just missed one question on that passage) so I essentially wasted 3 sections pouting.

Gonna crush review and try to get another PT in on Saturday.
If it makes you feel any better, PT 67 was my worst PT ever
This absolutely does make me feel better!

Any more stories of failure?

PT 72 BR is done:

174:
LR -5, RC -2, LG -1. Getting better at the new PTs, especially on my BR, which is good. Lol at missing 1 games question because I mistook "minimum" for "maximum." At this point stamping out dumb shit like that is part of the battle for me. LR continues to be a bit of a bugaboo though. Can't keep dropping this many points on it.

Your LR doesn't fluctuate much though does it? I've seen your posts for a while and you're usually around the -4 or -5 LR for both sections combined.

Just...goddamn! Fuck these new "modern" LR and RC sections right in the ass. So frustrating. PT60:

Dropped back down to a 165 with -5/-5 LR, -2 LG and -7 RC. Blind reviewed to 174 (-2/-3 LR, -0 LG, -3 RC). Made 3 objectively stupid mistakes in the first 10 questions of section 1. Need to slow my roll out of the gate.

Other than that, whoever was the sadist was who included Chicano Theater RC and Stone/Mulch LG can sit and spin.

June is closing in awfully fast...

In the 50s and low 60s I was in -2 to -0 territory. Regressed in the 70s to like -6 or -7, and am now sort of plateauing where I am. I think that's a problem in itself, and I need to get better if I want to hit my target, which is 177-180. Definitely keeping it in perspective though haha.

No that's the real score. After doing a billion LR questions I can usually see where they're trying to go. It gets repetitive. Though I definitely think it's the most mentally taxing section and the easiest to slip up on.

Eeeep no! I did most of the 70s like an idiot last year before the December test. So I only have one or two to take fresh. Is that the consensus on tests in the 70s?

Tried to do PT 68 before getting interrupted half way through - and now I have obligations that are going to tie me up the rest of the weekend, :| .

I went ahead and scored the first 2 sections of 68:

RC: -7 (I ran out of time causing me to not even get to attempt 3 questions).
LR: -4 (Ran out time again, causing me to not even get to attempt 3 questions).

These new RC are discouraging, and it isn't even due to the comparative passages.

The worst part of it is, I have BR'd in the 178 - 180 range on every PT, but I cant seem to put it together come test time.

Judging by my sudden regression, burnout my have hit me a bit; perhaps this weekend off is much needed.

Bruh, what method are you using for RC? It is the last thing I need to clean up before game day, and what I am doing now isn't helping.

I have the new Blueprint book, but haven't cracked it open yet...

I have the Blueprint RC book as well. I'm a little more than half way done with it and honestly, it's pretty good. They teach you by structure which I feel like it's easily understandable. I'm still not doing as great on RC but I've definitely improved a bit as opposed to before looking over the book. Give it a go! ;)

Sorry for double quoting.

I got some advice about 3 pages back in this thread from SweetTort that I found helpful as well which said:

"SO, the way I changed my score from -6+ to -2 or -3 was switching from writing the purpose/info of each paragraph in the margin, and instead using minimal notations to solely note structure. So, typically, it'll be like " BCK... V1... E1... Prob for V1... Implication V1" or something like that, with "***" written next to the opinion of the author, if one is provided. This also freed up a lot of time to refer back to the text for questions that ask about specific details."

Blueprint's book does something like this except they use different letters/words to tag things in the passage.

PT 66 today. I managed to go -2 in each of the LR sections, and finished LG 5 mins early!! Figured out, however, that was because I stupidly got 4 wrong :(

And.... -7 RC. Jeez. RC is killing me. I need help!

I mostly go on memory of the passage and "feel," so the degree to which I can help you is limited. But I try to read as actively as possible, continuously engaging myself with the passage with an open mind. I also underline newly introduced terms, or clear points where the author is stating a position on something.

Some people say to start with the hardest ones and work your way down to the easier ones so that way you zoom through the easier ones. I tried this but it didn't really work for me. I just did every question from easiest to hardest on each question type. I practiced every question type obviously but didn't complete every question types section in its entirety, although for some I did. I think you should try the hardest-->easiest method first but if you don't feel comfortable doing so, then switch to easiest-->hardest. And whether you should finish every single question in the packet depends on you. If you feel like you can destroy a question type before you finish the section for it, then keep some of those fresh questions for later use. Or you may just finish everything, it all depends on how you're doing :)

So... PT 67 had its way with me as well. Tough RC plus a tough curve. Ugh. 68 on Monday.

RC -5
LR -2
LG -1
