Re: June 2014 Retakers
Checking in! Only taken it once, last June, and didn't retake despite scoring 4-5 points below my average (wish I would've found the TLS community earlier! I got terrible advice...) Will be primarily using noodleyone's guide for retakers (once I start that is). Have already applied and gotten into many of my targets, but I'm going to try and leverage a new score for more money/get in off wait lists (unwilling to pay sticker) or take a year off (am a KJD) and reapply next cycle.
Good luck to all!

Use the Cambridge drilling packets in conjunction with whatever study books you're using. So, if you're covering Linear Games in your LG Bible, drill those after the chapter.eddiemen2a wrote:Im in guys. Although I'm not exactly a re-taker. I withdrew from February because my RC is horrible-- I never focused on it during my prep so i plan to hit it hard during the next few months. I'm going back to the basics. Starting off with Manhattans LR, and Powerscore for LG and RC (First time using an RC book). I used my PTs up till 68 (Yikes) but I hoping familiarity doesn't play a huge role. I have also never used Cambridge to drill, and I would like to know the proper way of doing this. Should i go through the bibles/Manhattan LR first?
Continue in the same fashion with your MLSAT and other Bible materials. Rinse and repeat for anything you're shaky on or if you notice a recurring type of problem in your PT's.
Welcome to the group, yo.

I've already gone through the trainer and done the drills, so I'm more than happy to go over some of the drills. Depending on the time, I could be in. Are you talking about the drills in the book or the ones from the packets?FlyingNorth wrote:I've already gone through the trainer and done the drills, so I'm more than happy to go over some of the drills. Re: June 2014 Retakers
Hi guys, I got a 159 in december 2013 without ever taking a real, full on practice test. Just practiced shitty sections every now and then.
I'm doing better, -3~ in LG and LR within time. My RC is terrible , -7 to -10 without even making time.
I'm down for any study groups or anything.
I'm starting the LSAT Trainer today. I skimmed the 4 first lessons and it looks like stuff i get, so i'm not gonna drill them hard.
Got any motivatinal websites or something? lol... I need the 170+

It's the drills from the packets that he assigns in addition to the stuff in the book. I reviewed all of my work yesterday and separated the ones I got wrong and are still giving me a hard time. You guys down for tomorrow night 8pm EST?

Wish I could, west coast bro over here and I have to take care of a few things after work. If you want to post some of the tougher ones, I can see if I can give an explanation.

Definitely go through the Trainer anyway. I'm reviewing it after having gone through it once already, it's a great resource for solidifying your understanding of the test.ioannisk wrote:Hi guys, I got a 159 in december 2013 without ever taking a real, full on practice test. Do you think the trainer is sufficient or should I also go through the Manhattan series/power score series again?FlyingNorth wrote:Definitely go through the Trainer anyway. It's up to you. I'm using the trainer in conjunction with the PS LG Bible because I need to focus on Logic Games a little more. I think you'll get the most out of the drilling aspect of your studying rather than the books you supplement it with.ioannisk wrote:Do you think the trainer is sufficient or should I also go through the Manhattan series/power score series again?FlyingNorth wrote:Definitely go through the Trainer anyway. I've gone through ps lg bible already. I feel all those categories are sort of pointless, i don't even know what half the categories are but when i see a game i know what it's asking for/what sort of diagrams.FlyingNorth wrote:It's up to you. I suppose review the LR bible/mlsat lr would be worthwhile.

Yeah, I'm disregarding the categorization of each LG. I'm more so reviewing the bible for improving my diagramming habits. If you think you're on point, then I would suggest drilling games and reviewing using 7sage.

Registered for Feb but most likely withdrawing for the June test due to RC.eddiemen2a wrote:Im in guys. Although I'm not exactly a re-taker. The downside is that an excellent center (in fact no center) near my town is not available for June. The effect of 1+ hr drive will also be tested in June along with the usual lsat stuff.
Trying cambridge for RC this time around.

Re: June 2014 Retakers
Hi Retakers,
I am considering a June retake, and I was hoping the hivemind could help advise on if it would be worth it. I've taken the LSAT twice so far-- 162 in Dec 2012 and 169 on Oct 13. I studied on my own the first time, and took a class the second time. During the class, I never scored higher than 169 on any of the timed tests that I did, but had been seeing improvement towards the end. I feel like if I had had two more weeks to study I could have gone up a few more points, but that could also be me overestimating myself. Basically, in your opinion have I maxed out my LSAT? At this point the retake would be for getting off of waitlists (UVA so far), and negotiating scholarship. I would appreciate any thoughts.

No. Your score history shows an upward trend even if you never broke the 170 threshold during PT's. This means that there are specific types of problems that you are consistently getting wrong.anyriotgirl wrote:Hi Retakers,

Take a "cold" diagnostic, blind-review it, identify any consistent errors, drill those, PT again. Repeat this process through June and you should be able to elevate your score.

Hmm I just saw that the June test is at 12:30pm. I thought the February test was at that time. I'll take it as a good thing, right? I've never taken a PT at that time.

Re: June 2014 Retakers
Just did my first PT this session. Basically under test conditions except I forgot print a bubble sheet.
Did PT 39 at the test center, as a 4 section. Sloppy on LG but otherwise not disappointed for the first one. Second number denotes score after BR.
LG: -4/0
LR1: -2/-1
RC: -6/-1 (bleh)
LR2: -5/-2
Overall 167. All I have really done is half of the trainer this month. No drilling at all.

Tentatively checking in for a June retake. I need to improve on LG.
I went with PowerScore exclusively the first time around, but I've been convinced to try Manhattan for Rd II. Thoughts on Cambridge packets as a supplement for Manhattan? What about LSAT Trainer? I'm unfamiliar with both. Thanks for any help!

Re: June 2014 Retakers
I only used PowerScore at first, and was consistently in the -1 to -3 range. I found the Manhattan LG book to be rather helpful, and I used the Cambridge packets at the same time. After going through both I now find myself using a mix breed of diagram strategies, consistent -0's with a silly -1 thrown in every once in awhile.cron1834 wrote:Tentatively checking in for a June retake.
