What kind of stuff is in the Atlas RC book? Practice or tips and tricks? RC was my best section but I've been really sucking at it lately

Re: DECEMBER 2010 DOMINATION
I'm also seriously considering purchasing the Manhattan/Atlas RC book. Tempted ... it could prove really useful since the 50s RC is so much different than the older ones.
Anyway, just reporting in:
PT 54
LR -2/-1
RC -2
LG -0
96 --> 176
I think I missed a #3 on LR1. Lulz. FAIL. I really want to whittle RC down to -0. I think acing LR is a toss-up but RC is a little more reliable. Maybe. So I'm looking at that RC book, about to pull the trigger ...

i just ordered the Atlas LR and RC to add to my LG one. I like their setup, and while Dec 11 is less than a month away it cant hurt. I figure since I'm out of fresh PTs this could help.

I've been so busy with classes this week (week before fall break) that I haven't been able to even think about the LSAT. I'm actually excited to get back to studying for it. This concerns me haha.

Solid, although I'm not sure the Atlas RC works for people who are only getting 1 or 2 wrong. But it couldn't hurt.aesis wrote:I'm also seriously considering purchasing the Manhattan/Atlas RC book. Tempted ... it could prove really useful since the 50s RC is so much different than the older ones.

I think you'll be in good shape, especially given history with the December curve. 180 certainly looks in your range - best of luck to you.aesis wrote:I'm also seriously considering purchasing the Manhattan/Atlas RC book. What about roughly -3/-4 on average?kkklick wrote:Solid, although I'm not sure the Atlas RC works for people who are only getting 1 or 2 wrong. But it couldn't hurt.
You guys have me considering it, but with only 3 weeks until test day and an online class + practice tests to balance, I'm wondering whether my time is best spent on that book or elsewhere.

Just bought the Atlas LR book. Its by far my weakest section and I still feel like I'm missing after going through the Bible. Looking at the sample chapters online, it seems like this might be more helpful to me. *fingers crossed*

95/101 = 175 on PT 57...wow
-0LG
-2 LR1
-1 LR2
-3 RC
The Logic games section was nasty, I barely finished in the 35 minutes, the dinosaur game was very difficult until I got the T inference. Also the first and last game were very time consuming, glad to have punched out a -0. Definately the hardest LG section I've ever done.
Both LR's, made a couple of uncharacteristic errors, I have to stop skimming the remaining AC's once I find an answer I like. Otherwise pretty happy.
RC, definately happy, especially considering I got 7/8 on fractals. But TBH, the novelist/narrative passage was a disaster, must have spent 13 minutes on it, and still missed 2, but not bad considering I barely understood passage B.
Just hope I can keep this up.

92/101 - 172 - PT 35

RC truly makes me want to shoot myself, what a miserable section.
Thrilled with LR performance and always a little irritated to miss one on LG but that isn't the end of the world.
Took the first half in the terminal of the Dallas Airport, took the second half on a 30 person airplane extremely cramped. Really pleased with the overall results given that the conditions were without a doubt worse than they will be on test day.

Just reporting in:
PT 55 w/ 32 minute sections
RC 25/27
LR1 25/25
LR2 24/25
LG 23/23
97 --> 178
I am very pleased with this. The curve for 180 was -1. Geez. I'm getting close though. Ended up changing an answer to LR2 Q2 to the right one, thankfully!
Three weeks! Can't wait.

Aesis,
Did you do those 50s PTs already for the Oct LSAT? Just curious, because I tried re-doing old PT sections and found them a little too familiar to be of much use. The curse of having a decent memory, I guess.

Re: DECEMBER 2010 DOMINATION
For anyone who's using Atlas' Reading Comprehension Guide, did you find that it helped you improve your performance in that section by a sizable margin? I know the test is only 3 weeks away, so I might not benefit much from the Guide, but at this point I'm pretty worried about how I'll fare in the RC section, so maybe any help will do.

I've read some good things about it and just started it. I like their approach to LG and from what I've read it looks helpful.

PT34 today. 178. 96 raw. New high score for me.
-2 RC
-1 LR1
-2 LR2
-0 LG
It's good to get back on track for LG. I ended up changing 3 answers throughout the test. Changed two of them from the correct answer to the wrong answer and one of them to a correct answer. That's pretty frustrating. Besides that, good test. My PT average is slowly rising and is at 173 exactly after today's test.
I should be getting Atlas RC in the mail tomorrow and will go through that before Wednesday. I also have the Economist now to read while I'm at work if it's slow. Over Thanksgiving, I'll be going over all of the LR questions I've missed since I started studying again.

Re: DECEMBER 2010 DOMINATION
I wish I had fresh recent PTs to do!!!! ahh. So far i've been killing the individual sections/questions I've been doing, -0 on a timed LR section, -0 RC passages etc... time to get out the erasers and find a PT or two i havent seen for a year +
