I can attest to this. We've gone hiking and it's very pretty but the shopping (at least near him) sucks. They don't have a Bloomingdale's. Or a Nordstrom.

They JUST got a Whole Foods. (I live right near the KOP mall so I guess I'm spoiled.) He said in high school there was nothing to do except get high and have bonfires in people's backyards

Sounds like my hometown. We had a Walmart and a bowling alley & that was pretty much it. Fun times.

The downtown of my unincorporated community is a church, post office, gas station, and watermelon packing plant. No stoplights.
