Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
PT29, Game 1 - Anyone mistakenly think Tuesday was also an option? I somehow thought Tuesday was an option the entire way through and still went -0 but it took me 12 minutes.
"On Tuesday, an accountant has exactly seven bills (1-7) to pay by Thursday of the same week." Totally thought that meant Tu, We, and Th were all options.
Doing it with the correct diagram? 3:30, -0. Durrrrp.

Ok one question guys.
I reviewed my N/A questions and I found out one type of question I got wrong all the time.
When the answer choices contains conditional reasoning, e.g. If a then b. When we negate the answer choice, which part should we negate?
Not A then B or A then not B, or maybe not A then not B?

Uggggghhhhh, I've only managed to study two hours in the last week. Things have just been insane lately. I get auto-laid off from my job (seasonal) in mid-March, though. And I should have enough saved to be able to just focus on the LSAT full-time for ~3 months.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Taking PT 31 later today after I finish reviewing PT 30. I have noticed that the mistakes I have been making in LR are usually due to not fully understanding the scope of some answer choices and just pure senseless mistakes. I am confident that with more studying with my weakest sections, I'll be in the high 160's by the time I get to the 40s. I'm half AA too so if this is representative of the real thing, I'll be pretty straight. Also, something I noticed is that with the wrong answer choices I selected, the majority of them have been right next to the correct answer.

Today is scheduled to be my weekly day off of LSAT.
LSAT prep has been so ingrained into my schedule that I think I am going to review a couple LR that I struggled with.

Took PT 42 this morning.
LG: -3
LR: -5
RC: -5
LR: -5
Raw: 83
Scaled: 165
A frustrating step back for me. I haven't reviewed it yet but the only positive that I can think to take out of this is that I didn't have one terrible section...though I obviously didn't have a great section either.
Thank goodness I still have 3 months.

Developing consistency throughout the test is one of the issues that many people overlook.The-Specs wrote:I haven't reviewed it yet but the only positive that I can think to take out of this is that I didn't have one terrible section...though I obviously didn't have a great section either.

I am going to start adding in a RC section from the older tests to simulate an experimental. Hopefully this will allow me to build my endurance up.
I am hoping to get to the point that I am able to take two test back-to-back in the days leading up to the test for pure endurance purposes. I figure I will just add another experimental to my tests at certain "marker days" (50 days out, 30 days out, etc...) leading up to the test.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Thanks, I think that that is good advice.
So i finally reviewed my PT. It looks to me like I missed a fair amount just from lack of focus which caused me not to read closely enough. At least 8 of the 18 i missed were simple if I read every word. It is just silly to miss points that way. About 3 others were from time pressure but even with those i could have closed out a -10 test if i had just been focused.
Back to reading my PS Bible.

PT 50
RC: -3
LR: -2
LG: -0
LR: -2
93 / 173
That RC section was rough. Pacing problems on the last passage and worked right up to the end. Finished LG in 23:00. LRs felt mostly comfortable, but obviously I've got a lot to review.
In LR2 there is a question about crosswalks which was done almost identically in some PT 1-20, just with differences in wording. Drilling helps!

Anyone doing something similar to PithyPike's plan?
I'm doing drilling for this month and the next month, along with SuperPrep tests A,B,C
Then April and May and early June will be hardcore PTs, about 3 per week.

this week sucked...only worked wednesday and friday feel kind of guilty about it. spent all week filming a documentary for this bs seminar. anyway, waking up early tmro to take 42. took 40 yesterday got a 167 (real happy i went -0 on lg even with that weird airline connecting zendu game). so now im consistently within the above 165 range...now for the hard jump to the 170s.

thanks DD...im focusing on formulating my own approach to the test than trying to shove everything into a cookie cutter ps or manhattan method and its working so far. keep up the good work man...we're killin it in june.Daily_Double wrote:You'll be there before you know it.shieldofachilles wrote:this week sucked...only worked wednesday and friday feel kind of guilty about it. spent all week filming a documentary for this bs seminar. anyway, waking up early tmro to take 42. took 40 yesterday got a 167 (real happy i went -0 on lg even with that weird airline connecting zendu game). so now im consistently within the above 165 range...now for the hard jump to the 170s.

Hey, at least you know you can get that on an LSAT. Obviously not the end goal but a good baseline.bmore_md wrote:My last 3 PT's have been 167. Buzzkill.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
You should be focusing on the raw score, and noting whether it is out of 100 or 101, to first identify how many questions you missed, and second if there are any patterns in the missed questions. And I really don't mean to imply anything here, just a recommendation, because honestly the scaled score doesn't matter nearly as much as your raw score. Yeah, I know people are going to say, well what about June? And I would still argue that the higher your raw score, the higher your scaled score, so focus upon raw, and scaled will come.bmore_md wrote:My last 3 PT's have been 167. Buzzkill.

Experimented and took PT50 half asleep; needless to say it didn't go very well and thus I will be doing my very best to be as mentally alert as can on test day lol. Taking 42 tomorrow for redemption otherwise PT50 will haunt me indefinitely.
Best section was LG with a -4 :/

Sleep. Get ready for the review. And review your answers, you know how to do it. I don't mean to be critical, but nobody should take PTs unless they are at least more than half awake, because otherwise the PT isn't as representative as it should be.CardozoLaw09 wrote:Experimented and took PT50 half asleep; needless to say it didn't go very well and thus I will be doing my very best to be as mentally alert as can on test day lol. Yeah, it was an easy game but I'm convinced they wanted to fuck with your mind by telling you "on Tuesday" then giving you that rule that basically says which days are how many bills.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:PT29, Game 1 - Anyone mistakenly think Tuesday was also an option? Doing it with the correct diagram? 3:30, -0. Durrrrp.
I thought they'd stop doing things like this (Wording the rules and/or setup poorly) and just focus on making the deductions difficult (Like dinos in PT57, for example) to make the game hard, but then there was the prompt for subzones in PT67...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
