The wife just reminded me I "owe" her a trip to Amsterdam. Doubt it will happen this year, though.splitterfromhell wrote:Anyone traveling after apps and before school?

Amsterdam is a lovely city and all, however, if you're going to go to The Netherlands, I recommend Rotterdam/Hague/Holland in general. Amsterdam is transforming itself into a tourist haven, and in the process, losing a lot of its charm.TheProdigal wrote:The wife just reminded me I "owe" her a trip to Amsterdam. I was there over a decade ago, stayed in a hostel right next to the red light district. Lovely city, great art, and with a good mix of debauchery and culture.fips tedora wrote:Amsterdam is a lovely city and all, however, if you're going to go to The Netherlands, I recommend Rotterdam/Hague/Holland in general. But seriously, the financial foundation to live a far more involved life.
ETA: connections, brand, etc. Opens doors for activism and political involvement (not candidacy).

To pay off any debt and make some money. After 5 or so years, use big law experience to get an end-game type job at a smaller firmtheugg wrote:@ the people picking big law . . . why

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
I've spent ten years in kitchens and food service. I'd happily trade 80 hours weeks in 100 degree kitchens and getting called in on my days off at $8/hr for 80 hour weeks in air conditioned offices and getting called in on my weekends at 160k/year.theugg wrote:Big law is a nightmare but I guess some people enjoy it ???? I just don't get why a lot of people go into it already knowing that they hate that sort of lifestyle.

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
This makes sense. My SO's dad is a very big, very well-known IP attorney and I think the idea of me doing big law scares the shit out of him.theugg wrote:Also I'm biased against big law because I know what it did to my dad and my family. Once you put the golden handcuffs on...
Not set on it, though. I have another preference, but I've also gained a lot of connections from working at my current firm, so biglaw is definitely a possibility.

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
I come to this thread hoping to find random internet people with too much time on their hands expressing ill informed and wide-ranging opinions in the areas of:
1. October score release date
2. Potential curve
3. Maximum legal discussion of the actual test
Unfortunately, it is filling up with the ill informed and wide-ranging POLITICAL opinions of random internet people with too much time on their hands. While I am willing to read a lot of useless junk like a crazy person until I receive my score, this is a little too far...
