I was just posing a hypothetical. Like, if I could manage to come out of Cornell with under 100k debt, and my goals were to live a moderate life-style, I feel like a lot on TLS would still see this as an unappealing outcome when compared to HYS.

I think the TLS CW would be to go to Cornell. The most established posters have very publicly advocated that sticker at HYS is not worth taking over a full ride at another T13 if your goals are standard biglaw goals.
HYS is really only advocated fervently for if someone has unicorn goals like academia.

But wouldnt Harvard make Biglaw more likely (if biglaw is what you are set on)?

Oh, unless you mean maxing out on retakes, in which case I'm an idiot.

Actually I kind of mean both. If you're PTing in the 172 range and you get a 168, you haven't maxed out. If there is some way you could study better (using resources better, putting in more effort, taking some time of work if possible), you haven't maxed out.

Of the three people I know at T-14, two of them sat three times and the other spent half a summer just doing LSAT. Every point matters, and the people who really want to go T-14 usually think in a "max-out" kind of way

So, say you study for 2 months and hit 172. In your mind, you haven't "maxed out" if you haven't used all your materials/feel that you've prepped enough.

It's more like, if you feel that you could have prepped better, you probably could have and should consider a retake. If you're PTing at 175 and get a 172, then at that point other factors might come into play. It's scores around 164-168ish that people really, really should retake.

20% is pretty significant - is that the actual numbers? Its pretty hard to bet on being median at schools like this considering how everyone else is a pretty driven individual as well.

Sweets - I think its great that you are thinking about all this now and are planning ahead, but you still have a lot of time. I was pondering all of the same things as you over the summer, and I was changing my mind on what I want to do every other day depending on who I talked to haha. I say you focus on studying for the LSAT, get the best score you can the first time and then worry about hypotheticals You are still a junior in undergrad right? Enjoy the free time you have now instead of worrying about what-ifs

So I thought I would want to stay on the east coast for law school if I decide to go, but after driving through SoCal all day I think I'm going to have to reconsider

haha. Like Rigo said, there are better schools than UCLA/USC that places better in Socal...but if you're seriously considering settling in this state, I'd say shoot an app to those two schools.

Haha, I have no idea where I want to settle. It depends on if I want to work for a company I had an internship with (either an engineering position which is an almost guaranteed offer or as an in-house IP lawyer if I go to law school) or if I want to try out biglaw. Another possibility is dropping out of college and opening up a bakery where I just make cakes and cookies all day haha

Personally, I can't stand winters that are colder than california's...lol. This so-called "hellastorm" this past weekend made me realize that I really can't leave the region for school.

But it narrows it down to just the north part of the country. Now was it closer to the Atlantic or Pacific?
