Re: December 2013 LSAT Study Group
Just got back from reviewing/grading PT 62 in a very noisy, drafty Starbucks (think I found my next practice test site!):
LR1: -0 (-1 A MISBUBBLE. SHOOT ME!)
LR2: -0 (-1 missed an EXCEPT. Shoot me again.)
LG: -0 (-1)
RC: -2 (-6. yikes!)
180 (174)
Generous curve on this one, thank goodness. I was a bundle of nerves this whole test. I had a misbubble fiasco during LR, but thankfully caught it and had plenty of time to fix... still, not good. I'm upset I cost myself a 176 'cause of two silly mistakes. Also concerned about the RC. These felt particularly tough, but I thought I had improved enough to not fall for the sciency passages. LR felt incredibly difficult but I guess I didn't give myself enough credit in the moment. Actually LOVED Stained Glass, although I cost myself one because I failed to infer Y-->P. Oops.
I don't know what to focus on for the remaining 3 weeks ;_;

haha yes we do always seem to have mirror concerns. i think i'm going to reread Manhattan RC and just retake all the RC from the 50s and 60s I've done. What are you going to try?vicpin5190 wrote:

J2007 RC, −3. Did in 32 mins with 3 to review, including bubbling.
Found this on the tougher end.

PT63 had an incredibly easy LR1 and a significantly harder LR2. Is this normal/common in the most recent tests?

#19 and #21 both from PT 62 Section 2.
Thank you in advance.

Can't say it's normal/common, but many October takers (myself included), found LR2 to be more confusing and wordy than LR1dasani13 wrote:PT63 had an incredibly easy LR1 and a significantly harder LR2. Is this normal/common in the most recent tests?

Re: December 2013 LSAT Study Group
I'm thinking these last few weeks I might back away from PTs and just focus on my weaknesses and do sections. I've taken about 12 PTS so far and I feel that my endurance and speed has increased, but I think maybe I need to just focus on my weak areas for the next few weeks rather than take the 7 PTS I have left.

Re: December 2013 LSAT Study Group
PT 67 today. Hit my highest score so far for PTing, 172. Another 5 section test with less time between sections than normal, plus I gave myself the full 15 minutes between section 3 and 4, no more no less. Used PT 37's RC section for my experimental....
RC -3
LR#1 -1 (this one felt really easy, any thoughts?)
RC(ex.)-3
LG -2 (Zones nearly threw me off.....but then I realized what it was saying and things got better)
LR#2 -2 (This section definitely felt harder, and I actually was able to to snag about 3 minutes to go back and do checking and made some appropriate changes to answers that would have otherwise been wrong had I not changed).
Raw - 92, Scaled 172.
Overall felt pretty good, I felt the effects of fatigue in games, and I think the 15 minute break actually threw me off because I was definitely a little slower in my response time than usual. Should keep that into consideration moving forward, might want to bring something for the break to keep me from going stale. 3 weeks and 4 PTs left to go. hoorah.

Re: December 2013 LSAT Study Group
I just took 63, I went -1 on LR1 and -5 on LR2. I agree that LR2 was significantly hard. I kind of remember other PTs in the 60s being the same way, one was way easy and the other was much more difficult.Fianna13 wrote:Can't say it's normal/common, but many October takers (myself included), found LR2 to be more confusing and wordy than LR1dasani13 wrote:PT63 had an incredibly easy LR1 and a significantly harder LR2. I went -1 LR1, -1 LG, -5 LR, and -5RC for a 169. I don't know why, but I was mentally exhausted by the third section. I am usually fine right up until the very end.
If anyone wants to review PT63, I would be happy to.

For anyone who didn't take Oct, I strongly suggest for you to PT 69 and 70 asap. It's what will best prepare you for Dec, in all likelihood. The LR is more difficult on these tests than in the majority of other modern tests.

Re: December 2013 LSAT Study Group
Posted this in June by accident....
So with under 3 weeks to go, I think that my test endurance is decently high. I'm going to space out my last 3 PTs (68,69,70) over the course of the next 2 weeks. The focus this week will be one PT (on Friday) and the rest of the week either doing some drilling or doing timed sections of LR and RC.
Timed Section Goals for the week: Go 3 consecutive -0's on LR, Score under -3 5 consecutive times with RC. Do some older LGs for fine tuning precision
PT Goals for the Week: Score -6 total or better, strict adherence to timing restrictions between sections (no more than 30 seconds). Focus on speeding up RC a little more now that i use analog timing and maintain LR speed. LG speed probably needs to be quicker (too slow last time using analog).
Drilling Goals for the Week: Drill Method of Argument/Strengthen/Point questions.
Revised PT schedule: Friday (11/22) - PT 68, Thanksgiving (11/28) - PT 69, Saturday (11/30) - PT 70, Sunday (12/1) - PT 60 (diagnostic)
I see the LSAT like training for a marathon. I've put in all the work the last 3.75 months, the last 3 weeks should now be about maintaining and fine tuning, and avoiding burn out. I.E. tapering for the big race.
Other points to address: Sunday, 12/1, will be my last day truly looking at LSAT in full. Will do some timed sections on 12/2 and 12/3, plus practice writing on the 4th. And then take off the 5th and 6th fully.
Critiques? comments? We're all ready ya'll. Just get excited, I know I am.

I’m going to make my last actual PT a bit closer to the test. Maybe wed. After PTing every other day or every two days for a month, I don’t want to leave a five day gap between PTs. Maybe consider taking one with me on Wed before t-day?
On days I don’t review PTs I’m going to keep drilling hard games, make a super-stack of 4 tough games and try to do it in 35 mins, and drill LR qs 15-25 from previous PTs in addition to an RC section a day. I’ve fumbled a few too many strengthen questions so I’m going to drill those and flaw too.
Totally agree with your marathon analogy by the way.

Re: December 2013 LSAT Study Group
PT61 this morning. 5 hr energy before. 9 am start. Kaplan LSAT proctor with distractions (keep reading for an unexpected one…)
LR1 −3
LR2 −1
LG −1 (REALLY dumb error)
RC −0
LRX J20071 −2
96/101
177
Right after the five minute warning was called after LR1 (which was my third section), bit down on the end of my pencil and a tooth filling I had on a chipped tooth broke. Can you blv that? There’s an unexpected distraction if there ever was one lol. Happy with the score though, all LR wrongs I had circled the right answer and changed it and the LG error was a careless/stupid mistake not adequately testing a hypo.
Off to the dentist.

I took 63 today. There is one problem that I just can't get. 3.17. I am just not getting how to diagram it. I looked on Manhattan LR, but it still doesn't make sense.
I don't see how the way it is worded would lead it to be diagrammed the way it is.

Not much harder but noticeably harder? I got about the same wrong in LR but I had about 2~3 minutes to check answers instead of my usual 5~6. I noticed less of a difference in difficulty, but more in how much wordier and confusing the stimuli became.taks7 wrote:Oh jeez. Good read on it. Some of us Oct retakers have been advising to really drill the Cambridge LR packets even if you have already, as the 70 LR resembled the old LR, and you wouldn't think it was a one-time arbitrary decision to have wordier prompts again.melodygreenleaf wrote:Not much harder but noticeably harder? I'm thinking I may start doing some timed LR sections from very old PTs, i definitely have found those ones to be "harder".

I really dislike the new format for games(extra space), maybe its because I'm so used to working one page per game.
