Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
I've used manhattan RC this past month and I think it has helped me get down to about -2/3 and I used to be in the -7 to -4 range. I read actively and try to figure the scale of the passage, alot of RC passages are just arguments or the author discussion some theory, practice, etc. One thing I learned from the RC book that was helpful was to make sure I re-assess and fully understand what i'm reading so now I spend maybe around 3 minutes per passage when I used to just blaze thru them quickly and focus on the questions.pleadthafif wrote:What prep books did you use for RC? Some people have said Manhattan's RC book really helped them, and I personally benefitted a lot from The LSAT Trainer's approach. I think the key is to not get bogged down with details. Recognize that every sentence is either one of four things: background information, supporting information, opposing information, or a point/conclusion. That's it. Recognize the purpose of the sentences/paragraphs and not the details and it becomes a lot easier.Davey Jones wrote:pterodactyls wrote:Honestly if I could get down to -4/-5 on RC I'd be happy. I currently range anywhere from -5 to -10. RC will be the death of me.i'm here too. i range from -4/-7. i'm actually just assuming i'm going to get -7 at this point and i'm working on making my lr more consistent. hopefully i can get into the 170s with a perfect lg and only -2 or -3 on lr.McJimJam wrote:I just want consistency, my RC has been anywhere from -4 to -7. If I could consistently get -4 or -3 on it I'd be set. Glad I finally get all of Thanksgiving week off this year, hope all that time helps.

has anyone else that is re-taking PT's been just killing their PT's? I know for a fact it is because I am re-taking them but it is really infuriating to not be able to tell what your true score is. sigh.

Yeah true, I'll start doing this for sure. PT 70 went well today although I wasn't feeling the best.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:flash21 wrote:has anyone else that is re-taking PT's been just killing their PT's? I really liked what bromandude does. If you remember a question, subtract it from your raw score. It gives you a really pessimistic score, but at least you're not tricking yourself into thinking you're higher.
How has your PT's and prep been going? I am getting anxious to re-take 76

Yeah I won't be taking 76 until the week before. I think me and you discussed this previously actually.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:flash21 wrote:Yeah true, I'll start doing this for sure. It's going. I'm trying to start forcing myself to focus for longer periods, which is my biggest challenge. Been moving from untimed to timed to 4 section PTs. My problem is maintaining focus all the way trough LR. I won't miss any 1-19, but will miss several at the end of sections.
I'm kinda looking forward to 76, but I probably won't do it for a couple more weeks.
I'm hoping meditating will help me with anxiety and focus. Have you been doing it at all? I can send a link to some guided meditations that I like if you'd like. I just listen to them off youtube.

Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
I just did half of a PT (all I have time for before class). -3 on LG, -9 on LR1. Ecstatic about my LG score since I've been drilling LG like crazy lately. But I've been neglecting LR and it shows. Back to LR drilling I go.

Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
Used all my 70s, 60s, later 50s PTs in my prep for the Oct test. Should I retake them (and assumably get an inflated score), or use earlier 50s PTs? Thing is, I want to prep with questions that resemble newer tests, and I'm afraid the earlier questions won't give me that.
Opinions?

Hahah I love you guys. I'm just hoping I can do that well with stress at 9 am, instead of just with coffee and clif bars at 4 PM. I really need to make more time to actually simulate better test conditionsDavey Jones wrote:i'd be good with the score, don't care how it's distributed hahahmintme wrote:You take the LR, I'll take the RCMint-Berry_Crunch wrote:slizerd wrote:Thanks! Re: The Official December 2015 Study Group
I would use the earlier PTs just as quick practice (i.e. just do one section a day, or spread them out throughout the day) and then use the more recent ones to simulate test conditions.bnssweeney wrote:Used all my 70s, 60s, later 50s PTs in my prep for the Oct test.
