i know this feeling. my parents are STRICTLY opposed to taking some time off after undergrad. they want me to take whatever score i get and just go to law school.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 WAITERS

You should associate studying with personal growth. The LSAT has a way of maturing us in meaningful ways. It's emotionally demanding, intellectually stimulating, and the outcome is directly proportional to the work you put in, which makes it truly meaningful work.
No lay person understands how difficult this test is. We try to explain it, but if they don't understand, it doesn't matter. Do you.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 WAITERS
Rigo, that's rough. I'm sorry.
I'm going to guess you've already tried to explain the possible outcomes of not reaching your full potential versus settling, right? If they don't understand now, they probably won't, honestly. When I talk to my sister (who is way more critical than my mom), I always base it around scholarships. Yes, I'm postponing, but do you want to pay $300k for me to go to LS? No. So stop complaining and let me postpone. Hopefully they'll come around.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 WAITERS
Sorry to ya'll with no support on taking/retaking the LSAT. I was trying to explain to someone how important it was to study and get a higher score, but they soooo did not understand. Most people really do view the LSAT like other standardized tests and it really is the most unique.
Was the LSAT different back in the day than it is now? I know a lot of lawyers who tell me they never studied for the LSAT and did well... and they must have done decent to go to the schools they went to. If it is no different, I feel like an idiot for having to study and retake.

Same here.Dirigo wrote:Thank you guys so much for letting me vent. I'm so glad I found TLS because I know for a fact that I would have barely studied and gone to a TTT had I not found the support and valuable consumer info on this site.
You guys have all played a crucial part in shaping my future.

Re: DECEMBER 2014 WAITERS
It's not that earlier iterations of the test (pre-1991) were easier, it's just that the competition was nowhere near what it is today. Most people ITT could get something like 80th percentile after a week or two of prep. Back in the day, that was all you needed to get into top schools.KAYCEE wrote:Sorry to ya'll with no support on taking/retaking the LSAT. Now, as we know, you need 98th to even have a shot at HYS. Because grade inflation and the fact that nearly every dumb dildo in the country goes to college.

Rigo remember our PMs and the similarities in our LSAT/post-undergrad journey. Can't say I know exactly what you're feeling but I've been getting similar talk from my loved ones and I definitely empathize. <3

Re: DECEMBER 2014 WAITERS
So my Aunt sent me a giant assorted popcorn basket and The Paper Chase as a law school congrats/Christmas present. Apparently it's a must see for incoming law students. Have any of you watched it?
