Yeah, I'm mainly using Mike for meta stuff, as well as RC general stuff. My main strategy at this point is drilling, though I'm not doing that on vacation due to the lack of a printer/willpower.

Yeah, seriously - really hoping it works out. Been doing apps lately, which is a pain, but it's nice to do something law school related where progress isn't just mostly in my headDirigo wrote:I'm so happy you decided to retake. It will pay off.Big Red wrote:I should probably start studying again
On another note, I had a pretty strong TLS moment this weekend when I found out a friend's list is the classic "regional schools errywhere" thing. Didn't say anything, but I was kind of like

My friend started out wanting TTT's & I told her those schools really sucked and would send her articles about how much they sucked (subtle move, I know). But she listened and really started putting effort into the LSAT and was shooting for BC and BU instead and started talking about scholarships and stuff. She unfortunately scored a 162--several points lower than her PT average--but she decided to sit out the cycle and retake in June.
I'm so proud of her. She went from being a completely misinformed person to sitting out the cycle with a score that was initially much higher than she ever thought she needed for her TTT aspirations. I hope she knocks it out of the park in June.

I don't think they'll ever get it, but as long as I don't feel obligated to make the foolish choices they advocate, I'll be fine.
My question is whether or not TLS paints a gloomier picture than is true. For instance, I have ties on ties on ties to North Carolina. Subsequently, if my PT stayed where it is now and I ended up with a 165-169, would it really be such a bad deal to do UNC Law on a full tuition scholarship? Are there really no decent jobs out there besides big law?

Duke and UVA grads will always snag the most prestigious private sector jobs in the state though.
I've also heard that UNC is insanely stingy when it comes to offering scholarships. I've heard they think they're god's gift to earth and refuse to negotiate--even with people who have insanely good numbers over both 75percentiles. So don't hold your breath for a fully from UNC even if you do really well on the LSAT.
I was just posing a hypothetical. Like, if I could manage to come out of Cornell with under 100k debt, and my goals were to live a moderate life-style, I feel like a lot on TLS would still see this as an unappealing outcome when compared to HYS.

HYS is really only advocated fervently for if someone has unicorn goals like academia.
So, if I'm at a 164 now, would it be "settling" to be OK with a 170? From what LSN seems to say, a 4.0/170 would merit full tuition at Cornell.
Sorry for ranting. haha

If NYC biglaw is something you want (and it is for me), you don't need a full-ride from Cornell to justify it. It's when you talking about sticker or $ that people push back against CornellSweetTort wrote:Dirigo wrote:I think the TLS CW would be to go to Cornell. In terms of the LSAT, you should "settle" when you've maxed out.

But how do you know when you've "maxed out"?

Oh, unless you mean maxing out on retakes, in which case I'm an idiot.

Gotcha. Sorry for spazzing out, it's just nice to clarify these things.

Re: The Official February 2015 Study Group
Actually I kind of mean both. If you're PTing in the 172 range and you get a 168, you haven't maxed out. If there is some way you could study better (using resources better, putting in more effort, taking some time of work if possible), you haven't maxed out.SweetTort wrote:Oh, unless you mean maxing out on retakes, in which case I'm an idiot.
Of the three people I know at T-14, two of them sat three times and the other spent half a summer just doing LSAT. Every point matters, and the people who really want to go T-14 usually think in a "max-out" kind of way

So, say you study for 2 months and hit 172. In your mind, you haven't "maxed out" if you haven't used all your materials/feel that you've prepped enough.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
